Be awesome if you could make a whole episode on daggerboard placement in different sea conditions for people like me still trying to get my head around how to use them properly 👍

That is the long term plan but it requires us to sail in all those conditions and film it. So it will take a while to compile. In the mean time we are making a series of short videos describing placement in each scenario as we encounter them. Once we have enough footage to cover the majority of conditions we can do a proper discussion on it....as long as my jib holds together long enough 🙄🤞

I agree an episode purely on daggerboards would be really useful 🙏

One thing I didn't understand was the comment about if you were offshore you might reverse your dagger board setting - could you explain that please?
This year I will pass 200,000 miles of deliveries & cruising. About 30,000 of that in cats, but only 10,000 in dagger board boats. I really appreciate that I can learn from you guys, and I learn with almost every video so it's much appreciated and thank you...

Hi Nigel, when offshore I am playing more conservatively and I have the windward daggerboard as the deeper of the two. If there was ever a hull fly or the wave picked the windward hull the windward daggerboard will ventilate and allow me to slide sideways in order to reduce the risk of a capsize

Hi we appreciate your clip but my wife and I were in the Atlantic recently with 3,5 to 4m waves. What is your recommandation about the use of daggerboard in a downwind / on the beam reach in heavy seas. Thanks

It would very much depend on the boat, wind intensity and the sea state. My guess is you would be having to play a lot with daggerboard placement depending on what point of sail you are currently in. The difference between downwind and reaching is huge.
We did talk a bit about daggerboard placement on our Atlantic crossing ua-cam.com/video/gJlENJ0yLFw/v-deo.html
