Some of those engines just produce sublime music. That Gardiner and the Blackstone were crying out for sampling and using as rhythm tracks! Such an incredible collection, and not just a hoard of stuff, working stuff.
Thanks for taking us along so to speak.

Some of those engines have a lovely rhythm, I'd rather listen to those than modern radio! And yes they might shake the building yet they are so smooth you can place tools on them and they won't vibrate off.

Thanks for sharing that amazing collection. It looks like he's been collecting since you could buy lots of those engines for scrap money, there's stuff there I've never seen before. The time thats gone into getting them running and set up's got to be amazing to. I'd bet if that collection was ever sadly dispersed it would be worth a pretty sum now, and cause a world wide concrete shortage building bases setting those big engines up somewhere else L.O.L. Take care

Yep, no doubt that was a factor back then. Interesting to trace all the jiggery-pokery that was installed to make these Oldies run. Nowadays it's all the "improvements" hanging off a modern motor to make it meet the next round of Environmental Emissions Standards. The reason that we've kept all our old gear running. We can fix it without an International Internet connection to Moline, Illinois because the GPS unit can't get a fix and the whole concern becomes just so much scrap metal! 😱🙄😉

great collection im guessing them big engines would have been used in something like the big mills in Lancashire running hundreds of weaving machines

  • @Equiluxe1

There used to be a pump house somewhere near Methwold that had a four cylinder ruston as the main engine and several two cylinder ones one of which was like the single Man Cave has, A friend of mine got the two cylinder one which I built a trailer for and mounted it on with an alternator, I have some photographs of that. I was given the bronze gate valve from the pump the two cylinder drove originally so large I could crawl through it.

I don't much of the tractors, never really been into doing things like that to old machines.
    HOWEVER
Some bloody gorgeous engines, most look like their in there working clothes. I think for many of them you would need more than a Iveco Daily though adam. I'm guessing the lad doing the angle swinging had his Weetabix that morning lol. I'm guessing the big old Gardener would have been air start when new.
For someone who is camera shy, Geoff seams to get court on one quite often lol.
So do those engines make your Stuart Sandhurst a 1" scale model? lol. The biggest I ever had was a 4 horse Ruston AP and they make it looks tiny. I think you should get a bigun for your garden lol. I could study that blackstone 2 cyl and the big 3 cyl all day. Its so mechanically interesting. We was at Stamford bank holiday weekend. I remember when Jimmy Key was alive and they used to start the big old Ruston in the museum at Strumpshaw. When you stood out side, it was just like listening to a steam train going up a hill.
    Another great video
