Whisky.com reviews the Glenlivet Founder's Reserve. The Glenlivet Founder's Reserve was matured in a high proportion of American first-fill casks and is dedicated to the early days of the distillery. The Glenlivet was the first distillery in Speyside to be granted a licence to distil. The distillery has been producing since 1824 and is now one of the largest producers of malt whisky.

I got a bottle of the “new” Glenlivet 12 last week. I prefer it a lot more than this one. I would say it’s on par with Glenfiddich 12.
I’m not quite sure where this fits in the market. I assumed it was introduced in the US as a cocktail whisky with the bourbon casks, but they seem to be marketing a lot of Glenlivet 12 year cocktails instead. Also it’s usually either the same price or slightly cheaper than the 12 year double oak in the states. Personally I find this one is much nicer in cocktails, sherry finished whisky can be weird in cocktails that didn’t specifically call for it.

Got me into buying single malts more frequently. I started watching UA-cam video aftr that. Almost everything after it was an improvement. I would never buy it again. A happy moment for me was when my brother and two of his friends came over and drunk about 500mL of a 750mL bottle during soccer match. I have never been happier to share a drink.
This was my first bottle of single malt. Nice nostalgic memory.

Was looking for something akin to the 15 yo but the dry, oakey a/t was not to my liking.
Maybe not the popular opinion but I’ve had a bottle and quite enjoyed it.
They ruined the 18 year
Johnnie Walker Black has more character and class
And it has a 12 year old age statement
This is one that really doesn't sit well with my tastes, I'd rather go with a palatable blend for this price range. Much prefer a nip of Islay Mist for a cheap dram.

Tried this whisky once… will never try it again.
For the price I get a bottle now and then. Easy sipping scotch I do prefer the 12 sherry cask and the 15 is very good again can’t beat the price.
