It's clear to me Matt, that you have a long career of wood working ahead of you. Very good lighting, explanation of process and reasons why, clear video, no jerky camera motion and easily understood. WELL DONE!! Many Thanks
Looks great! Nice proportions on the box, the inset details, and the trim. The contrasting natural finish on the top with the painted lower looks great as well. Well done sir!
Really love your woodworking skills. Your a pro, thk u for sharing your work. I'm a beginner and your someone I love , watching your video, and how organized you are. Your really good at what you do.. I consider u my mentor in woodworking.
Looks great Matt. I love how such a simple box can look so classy with some trim and the contrast of the painted cabinet and wood top really looks classy!
Awesome blanket chest really like all the details with the moldings and the router work on the top it came out fantastic. Also wanted to say I like how you explain your thought process like when breaking down sheet goods and how to cut trim pieces it's great information. Also good to know I'm not the only one doing it this way. Take care and keep up the awesome work!!
Wow Matt, another winner! What a great video and your craftsmanship and attention to detail continue to amaze me. Another thing that I have to give a shout-out to is the camerawork and editing. Whoever is filming does a great job. Whether it be far back shots of your shop with you working, or a super close-up of a board getting cut, it always looks very professional. The editing and transitions from shot to shot are great as well. I always feel like I'm watching a documentary on Discovery or something! Anyways keep up the awesome work. I'm finding that out of all the channels on youtube that I subscribe to, yours is one of them that I look forward to watching the most.
+Mista C Thank you very much! I'm not sure I deserve all that credit but thank you. I am constantly working at the camera and editing side of things, it's not something that comes natural to me so I'm constantly trying to improve.
Looks great. Dark paint really makes the pine top stand out. I may be in the minority but I think pine can look as good as oak or maple when done right. You hit the nail on the head here.
Great job, never thought of a lift off top. This was the first time to view one of your videos, I like the way you comment over the steps, it just seems to help follow along.
Nice build dude! I personally would have added hinges (and will when I build mine) but it's absolutely a personal preference. You just got yourself another subscriber. Looking forward to checking out the rest of your channel!
Another seemingly Flawless project! I didn't realize until this video that you're working in a one car garage?! Very nice. I need to utilize the space in my 1 car garage outbuilding/woodshop/thing.
First time I see your channel and I must say this is without a doubt one of the best done videos on UA-cam. It's nice not to hear a bunch of annoying background music. You are a true Craftsman. I'm a big fan already
I like the contrast between the color and the wood. Usually it's a light wood with dark paint or vice versa. But it's nice to see something different every so often.
That’s a very nice chest, Matt. I like the contrast of the natural grain in the lid with the solid colour in the body. And you’re very good at editing so that - with your calm narration - the process becomes very clear. Thanks for sharing!
+Bicycle Rider Thanks I was really pleased with the top. I love the fact that the water based poly kept the wood bright looking instead of yellowed like most oil finishes do.
+Buck Slaughter I did actually consider that, but in the end I'm happy with it all being one color. Plus, if I move it to another room or not against the wall, it might not look as good.
Thank you! The little bit of advice about consistency is a lesson I think too few WoodTubers mention but is so critical. Do I care if the fixed shelves in my bookshelf are EXACTLY 24 inches long? Nope...but if they aren't all the SAME I'm going to struggle to get the case square and not be pear shaped.
It's clear to me Matt, that you have a long career of wood working ahead of you. Very good lighting, explanation of process and reasons why, clear video, no jerky camera motion and easily understood. WELL DONE!! Many Thanks

I'm a beginner and your someone I love , watching your video, and how organized you are. Your really good at what you do.. I consider u my mentor in woodworking.
Looks great! I love the top. I like the idea of going without hinges, it keeps it nice and simple.
+Leigh Jordan
Thank you, that's just the way I like things to be, nice and simple!
Looks great Matt. I love how such a simple box can look so classy with some trim and the contrast of the painted cabinet and wood top really looks classy!
+Eric Merchant
It's amazing what the subtle touches can do for an otherwise plain project huh?
Very Neat. I can see that you are working so carefully so as to not make any mistakes. 😊Thanks!
Great build and video editing Matt. I really like the way you constructed the top, no hinges. Always look forward to your projects and videos.

Outstanding! The created box is a thing of beauty. Bravo 👏🏼
Looks great. Dark paint really makes the pine top stand out. I may be in the minority but I think pine can look as good as oak or maple when done right. You hit the nail on the head here.
+Justin Richardson
Thanks man, it definitely has its place when properly presented.
This is so nice to watch. Well done
As always...a fabulous project.

+Luis Figueroa
Thank you, it is very subtle, but that's kinda the way I like the details to be.

Very sturdy & aesthetically pleasing build. I would have painted the very bottom trim white though to match your floor molding.
+Buck Slaughter
I did actually consider that, but in the end I'm happy with it all being one color. Plus, if I move it to another room or not against the wall, it might not look as good.

Great project ---I was wondering if you could have used beetle killed pine for the top
+Richard Fuerst
Yeah, essentially, you could use any material you wanted for a top. Beetle kill pine would definitely be a cool look.
