And to top it off, my sibling is a registered nurse, and agrees with my elder parent. So me and the rest of the family are all wrong about her cognitive decline. And it’s torn our family apart. It’s sad but older people do not want to admit that they need help.

If he's convicted, elected or whatever it also wouldn't surprise me if some judge(s) make it all go away eventually. Meaning if he goes to jail someone will pardon him down the road. If someone started speaking this way, I would immediately take them to the hospital for an evaluation. This could be dementia, stroke, exhaustion, or the side effects of medication or illegal drugs. Nothing wrong with audio modulation, it doesn't prevent anyone from telling the truth via radio, open air or from the pulpet but then exceptions must be provided for those who can't tell the truth or stop themselves from committing perjury. -You're right. Because I've seen him in interviews from the 80s through to before he announced his 1st run for the presidency, AND, he was sane. None of the craziness we've seen since his presidential run, up to now.
He wasn't doing well (and that's speaking kindly), but he seemed to nosedive after contracting covid, and that was apparent in the intense denial and paranoia surrounding the pandemic.
There is video of Trump testifying before the House in 1991. He has always been an idiot, but there was clear cognitive decline between then and 2016--and even more now. The contraction of his vocabulary has been profound.
