    The door really complements the rest of the house and the windows let in a lot of natural light, but I've never seen a door come without the windows preinstalled. Jess you were right to be nervous with the installation of the tensioner spring. If not installed properly can cause a nasty injury. I'm sure y'all were in good hands with Mr. T there.

    It is so awesome that you have a neighbor who is knowledgeable on so many things and also willing to guide and assist you.
    I don't know if this has crossed your mind, but when I watched y'all build the wall at the other end of your garage, I kept having a thought about drainage near the wall. With the installation of this garage door, I had the same thought. I'm sure that you used ground contact-rated/treated lumber, but over time and with enough moisture or water exposure, it will rot (eventually).
    I hope that you have it in your plans to do one or both of two things:
    1. Build an overhang to keep water from splashing against the wall and the garage door.
    2. Put in a drainage pipe (French drain style) or a drain similar to those found around pools.
    With your home being on a slope any downhill water will potentially make its way to the wall and garage door.
    I hope my suggestions help. I enjoy watching y'all build your container home.

    • @PacificPinesRanch
      @PacificPinesRanch  Рік тому +1

      I totally agree! The bottom is pressure treated lumber so it is rated for that kind of use but there will also be some waterproofing and siding on top of it eventually. :)

    You called this a low clearance garage door... but it looks like a standard size to me. What's different about it? Was there some particular reason you wanted a low clearance door? It's really coming along. Nice to see you get to some finishing touches.

      The only difference is it is made to allow the maximum amount of height possible for the garage space (so we can get all of our big trucks/cars in the garage lol)

    The numbers on the drill are the setting for the clutch on how far to drive a screw in. When drilling you need to use the setting with the one that looks like a drill bit not the one that looks like a screw. Great job by the way 👍🏻

      No you are right, it´s not my place to comment on things like that. Think I was a little taken by just how much was in black and seeing it in such a natural environment. Yet reasons for our choices can vary so much and even be quite personal. Of course you should be delighted with your home and the result in the end, can only be a reflection of ourselves and that is an interesting thought.@@PacificPinesRanch
