    Another good option for user interface design is to set your fill color to 'swatch' (shown after gradient & pattern buttons). Then you can edit all your colors in every object through the swatches panel (shift-ctrl-w, view - swatches). It's like keeping your colors in a variable you can change.

    Super useful quick tip! You can also just right-click on your object when you're in the selection mode and the "Select Same" option will appear in the context menu. That's even quicker. 😉

    Dude, you rock! Started learning Inkscape and Gimp from you back in highschool in 2016, and greatly appreciate you're continued efforts to teach people invaluable skills. You're the best!

    I have been using Inkscape since i was 6th in elementary (albeit not always doing designs), and i swear you're the only channel i have ever recommend to literally anyone that asks me where to learn using this awesome software. Hell even i still find new stuff on your channel too! Keep up the good work, Nick!

    Thank you Nick! I'm not an absolute noob anymore but still a lot of questions so these tutorials are perfect.
    Question / suggestion: is it possible to save / create a color pallette so it can be reused when I start another document?
    EDIT: never mind, found it in the playlist! :)

    Can this work for solid color backgrounds is primarily what I'm interested in? It would obviously be good if there were a way to grow/shrink the selection area as well as remove parts to fine tune a background removal from hair strands for instance. I'm still trying to work this particular detail out in Gimp Layer Mask with the latest changes and it's difficult to say the least.

    Is there a way to remove/change every single color except one? Like if you wanted to make all your macarons white (or remove color ) and just keep the black outline? Thanks

    • @dffeqq
      @dffeqq 2 роки тому +2

      one way is to select all and then changing the Alpha to 0, or making them white. lines share a different setting so this would be something you could use every day.

      Not all at once, if that's what you mean. Select Same only works with a single object selected.

      If You mean literally change them to just one color, like the exact same white and have no different shades like the macarons in this video, yes You can.
      Just select all and change the *fill* color (by, for example, just left clicking on any color in the swatch bar on the bottom, or the red X for transparent).
      The *stroke* won't be affected by this change and will stay the same.
      You can change the stroke color by, for example, holding Shift and left clicking on any color on the swatch bar.
      This following info might be unnecessary for You (for now) or confusing, especially if You're new to or just casually using Inkscape, because there are multiple options, so feel free to ask any questions, if You have any (like 'what the hell is a path?'):
      If however, Your 'stroke' is a path, but all 'strokes' are the same color, that is different to any other color, simply select one 'stroke', follow the steps in this video to select all the objects with the same color, then either:
      1. group them together (by, for example, pressing Ctrl+G)
      or 2. put them on a different layer (can't think of the easiest way to do this from the top of my head) and make sure You're on the layer with the other objects, in this case the one with the fill,
      then select everything, choose the color You want, then click on the 'strokes' You grouped together and change their color.
      If You went with the 2nd option and put them on a different layer, they shouldn't have been selected and shouldn't have changed color.
      If You want to change the color of the 'strokes', You'll have to change to their layer, select them, and choose the color, and so on.
      If You're reading this and think me writing everything over and over again is redundant, yes, it is :)
      Again, if You have any questions, feel free.

      Huge thanks for all your replies!!! I actually solved my problem by selecting all objects with the same fill color ( black outlines ) and then using INVERT SELECTION ( ctrl + ! ) I got everything else selected and then just changed the color to white. Because elements in my illustrations overlap removing color completely would expose the element and black outlines under so I would have to spend a lot of time removing them.

      @@renaks1 oh, yeah, invert selection! ^^'
      See, multiple options :)
      Great You could figure it out by Yourself, in a pretty smart way I might add - I wouldn't have thought of it lol
      Have a great weekend!

    Well that's an interesting video. This seems really useful for project files you're creating but do you have anything for say finalized images. If for instance that same picture was exported as a (high resolution) flattened image could you use Curves or something to change the colors?

    • @LogosByNick
      @LogosByNick  2 роки тому +1

      This only works with vector objects, so any kind of pixel-based imagery wouldn't apply here. You'd have to use GIMP for something like that.

    Hi Nick! I have a problem with patterns. I'm trying to change the color when I use a default pattern but I can't. I think I by used do it going to extension > color > replace color, but that way doesn't work.
    Could be it a bug in the latest version? Could anybody help me?
