  • A quick trip after work to Frankston Pier proved successful during winter. Winter is a great time of the year to target Garfish for both food and bait if you get the weather and tides in order.
    After setting the berley trail, they took a little while to come on the bite and were thick n fast nearing the top of the high tide in the dark.

      I thought I’d get a comment from someone about that….lol, usually I fish for squid further down at Oliver’s hill ramp where the weed is thicker…..good work through, thanks for smiling 👍

      @@jarrodday Yeah there is a heap of good eging grounds around the area. Caltex has been the most productive of the local spots for me recently.

      @@jarrodday I think my problem was using braid the whole way I need a fluorocarbon leader

    • @jarrodday
      @jarrodday  Рік тому +1

      Yes, the braid would shy them off the bait, use fluorocarbon leader which is near 100% invisible in water

      @@jarrodday thanks for the help mate. I I do my squid and garfishing at Mount Martha rocks and at autumn, when my squid jig hits the water, it’s like a 30 meter carpet bombing The water just explodes with garfish so pretty eager to actually catch them haha

    Hey Jarrod,
    hoping you can shed some light on this. I have caught plenty of average sized gars around Frankston but now im looking to chase the bigger models which are found in WP.
    How does one try fish for gars when there are soo many toad fish about?
    Any pointers you could provide would be appreciated.
    cheers.

      Hey, sorry for the late reply.....did you see my latest video of garfish in Western port......Balnarring and somers are top locations.....toadfish can be painful, but you just have to fish through them to get the gars.....

    Gday Jarrod. Where can I get some of those Mustad 4540 1/2 hooks in a size 12? Cannot seem to find them anywhere! Thanks.

      Where are you located ? Victoria ? If so, ask Compleat Angler Dandenong or Bentleigh....if they don't have them, they can order them in for you.
