I wouldn't say he is the best winger ever but his work output is currently second to none.
Kolbe better.
@@jadenphilander8799his Super Rugby record isn’t near good enough. The discussion is best Super Rugby winger.
I really wonder what you have been watching or smoking.
@@alistermacpherson7120 But you're too stoned or busy watching One news to elaborate?
Based purely on Super Rugby performance, Reece is definitely up there.
He’s been a key part of many championship teams and consistently dominates the comp.
Guys like Naholo, Howlett, Savea, Ralph and Lomu are up there too
Rupeni Caucaunibuca, Jonah, Jeff Wilson, Doug Howlett, Joeli Vinderi, Tana Umaga,
Julian Savea is literally the highest scorer of all time
No way! Compared to the following list…
Lomu, Jeff Wilson, Doug Howlet, Rupeni , Rokococo, Corey Jane, Rico gear, Umaga, Setevini,
I’m taking Julian over anyone else on that list.
Sevul Rece reminding me of Joe rokcoco only because our wing have been big looking like forwards or been forwards alot
@@kumbiraisibands3261💯agree
Sevu Reece isn't even a winger, he's a universal soldier 😅
I don't think there is a winger that has the work rate of Sevu. Probably caused the most turnovers in the team so he's defense is top notch aswell
Mark Talea literally does the same thing for the blues every week. Also Talea doesn’t need to beat his wife up.
@redhillriders4882 Oh please!. There are good candidates out there.
Telea* has only done it for a couple of seasons @@redhillriders4882
@redhillriders4882 mark is better but Crusaders fans just need some sort of "good" this year
@@redhillriders4882 Telea loses the ball or gives away a penalty for not releasing after he isolates himself 2-3 times every game. Regularly out of position looking for personal work making others look bad and poor defense when he's actually there. Doesn't need to be a good bloke just to have a more complete game than just running with the ball.
2024 has been the most entertaining SR season in ages. Its exciting not knowing who will win.
Loved Jippers baseball story. I've watch a guy who was trying to become a pro pitching at 90mph.
He could hit the catchers glove every time. Threw about 100 fastballs before taking a break. dude was a machine.
For example its like a cricket bowler throwing a non bouncing ball at 150+ KPH on a pitch which is 2 metres shorter than normal.
It’s dead without the SA teams.
Dead is strong language; I do agree thst the comp was better with the SA teams
S.Barrett will be ABs captain.
Too many red cards to date. Too much of a liability.
@@stevenbissettyes because Sam cane wasn’t a penalty magnet that always maintained his head lol. Barrett is far more composed than the zombie that is cane
@@jlm0175 Then let us select someone else other than Sam Cane or Scott Barrett. Who would you suggest?
@@stevenbissett Codie Taylor.
He's been the most consistent super rugby winger.
Sevu Reece is my favourite NZ wing of the last 3 years. Arguments about historic player comparison or even international winger comparison (I don't watch much international stuff) I think is almost meaningless.
Did Alan Ala'alatoa coming back change some dynamics for the Brumbies ?
Truly one of the best.
I enjoy how every podcast Bryn Hall will manage to say "In and around" when talking about nearly any aspect of the game 😆 Every episode it's an easter egg to look out for.
What i know is he cemented his spot in the black Jersey for sure
Great show as always!
Clarke and Reece should be the abs wingers this year
Telea is locked in.
Clarke should not even be in consideration
@@alistermacpherson7120 I have my doubts that you've been watching this season.
@@rugbyunit6737 PLEASE I watch every game & Reece & Talea (Blues) are clearly first choice ABs starters & Clarke isn't even in ABs squad.Get a dose of reality & if you belong to AA then you can get a free eye sight test?
@@alistermacpherson7120 Reece first choice? Stop lying to yourself, he disappears against South Africa. Talea slips past Big teams forwards easily. Reece is an overrated small game merchant.
I think Brin (?) desperately needs either a lens clean or preferably a new camera phone as there is a lot of flare on his image ! Just doesn’t look good.but really enjoy this Pod cast - from Atlanta.
The Brumbies were very good against my Canes team, they took them on up front and outmuscled them which may have surprised the Canes. I do think the loss will actually help galvanise the Canes though. Better to get a reality check now than in the finals.
Delta Centre in LA is an amazing place to watch Basketball or Ice Hockey.
The biggest issue I saw with the canes was how passive they were on defence. They didn’t rush up, they’d take a few steps forward and then soak the contact which would always result in losing the collision and giving up gainline. They did the same against the chiefs earlier in the season and as such were always returning (or giving up an offside) on defence and as such giving up territory. The tactical kicking was poor compared to the brumbies as well.
With a good team he is a great asset defensively and on attack
Lads keep it up love the poddy! Question for the next pod why is Nanai-Seturo not being talked about for the ABs? Seems to be everywhere and pulling strings from the back like a good 15 should. He has a wicked step as well as strength in the tackle. Also Ross keep those dodgey Harbour boys in check with that Counties flair! And can we have a chiefs poddy next 😉
I've watched a couple of Bryn Hall's recent games in Japan....geez, he seems to be a pretty handy winger as well. LOL.
Canes looked tired after the game in Fiji. They just seemed off to me and lackluster. Also, Proctor makes that backline so much better. Lukhanyo Am and Conrad Smith-esque in terms of being the glue and defensive captain of sorts for the backline.
Caleb Ralph ! Less we forget… (just a Crusaders fan kidding) but jeez there’s been some good ones. I always dreaded Jonah Lomu playing against my team, eventually he’s gonna put points on ya. Great question though 👍
What about the Brumbies fans? They were deafening. That was an awesome fan display!
Sevu Reece is very good.Julian Savea is no mug is he???
Work rate, strike rate, ridiculous ability to snag turnovers given his small stature, crazy agility and mad reaction time along with having one of the lowest error rates of any winger in living memory. Realistically speaking you’re being dishonest to state that any winger has been as solid for as long as sevu has….whatever you think of his past (which we don’t have all the facts on) this is about playing ability and effectiveness. My favourite winger of all time is Lomu, followed by Jason Robinson and Bryan Habana but to think that they brought as much in so many facets to a game as sevu is just not correct….for people saying Goldie I think you need to stop living in nostalgia land. Both at their prime Reece would twist him up so bad you’d think he’s origami. Cheslin kolbe is likely the only winger that can contest Sevus contributions to games
No way! Compared to the following list…
Lomu, Jeff Wilson, Doug Howlet, Rupeni , Rokococo, Corey Jane, Rico gear, Umaga, Setevini,
So happy to see someone actually mention Rico Gear. He kept Howlett largely on the bench from 2005-2007 and his form for the Crusaders was unreal.
Landers game it was running rugby but landers were throwing 50 to 50 passes and so many knock ons . Win is a win
Wallace Sititi - One to watch
Sitiveni sivivatu
Jip - is that the best Laker seat you could find?? 😊
C'mon Sky, give this show some clips to go with the excellent analysis, we don't all have a photographic memory to go with the particular plays they're talking about. That god awful show The Breakdown gets all the game coverage it seems.
Lol, Bryn getting all crusaders-centric. The battle for 1st and 2nd spots is first and foremost about home advantage, not about dodging the crusaders.
Parson’s claim that a defender is responsible for being pinned down in the wrong position when they are trying to roll away by a Rucker who breaking the rules and rucking off their feet is very odd.
I love watching Rugby Nation with Taylor Curtis but hate it when Ever Ross Karl or Tony Johnson fills in for her when she's not there .
Yes his strike rate says so!
Savea and Habana
He has a high work rate because he's a Midfielder forced to play Wing at pro level... Honestly the number 12 issue in NZ would have been long solved with him there, he's a smart player who can tackle, pass and kick, he would have caused so many problems for backlines across the world if we had used him properly.
Hurricanes Vs FijianDrua SemiFinal 2024!
Hey Ross, you may need to over emphasise the "EFFECT" bit when explaining the segment on Sevu. There are some absolute twits in this comments section who can't differentiate between "the best" and "most effective". Good luck.
Please timestamp subjects!
What is childish about criticism?
NZ pundits will just forget guys like Bryan Habana and Julian Savea and give a current guy "the greatest player ever" title
This comment suggests your ears are blocked to your brain.
Where do they say that?
@@namasi7070 read the title...
@@mzanziman9150watch the show...
Too many people like you are deluded by nostalgia.
The crusaders have won 7 titles in a row, so obviously it stands to reason that many of their players will be in these conversations.
Taylor, Whitelock, Mo'unga, and Reece are all in the GOAT super rugby team.
He has a high workrate bt he gives up alot of tries on his side due to coming in not relying on his centre to do his job
Like last week. Rushed out of line.
Sevu has not even hit his full peak. Once he hits that peak he will be one of the best in the world hands down. You heard it here first. Numbers don’t lie
He is a quality ball runner but his defence, kicking and passing game lack accuracy. So he is hardly a complete wnger like Jeff Wilson or Doug Howlette. I also think he has found his level at super rugby and is not a good test option. There are several other wingers playing for other franchises I would have ahead of him in the ABs
Let’s be honest, if those are your claims you probably haven’t seen him play. One of the lowest missed tackle rates of all outside backs, highest turnover rate of all outside backs, as for kicking and passing…..yeah you’re wrong again sorry pal. The crusaders could almost use sevu as a pseudo half back and penalty kicker. You just don’t like the guy eh? Or maybe just don’t like the seven titles he has notched up. You a blues or chiefs fan bro?
@@jlm0175 He's one of those Crusaders players that is the product of the superior systems your franchise has enjoyed for so long. But if you take him out of that system and super rugby he becomes much less effective and suffers by comparison to other international players. Other good examples of this are Todd Blackadder, Reuben Thorne and Caleb Ralph. All of them making very poor contributions to the ABs.
Recency bias is strong with these ones 🤦🏻♂️
Reecency bias, for sure
Recency bias? Is seven years running on form recency bias? Lol
@@jlm0175 let's not pretend player like Jonah Lomu, Julian Savea, Bryan Habana, Doug Howlett etc etc didn't exist.... Ya muppet
Wouldve been Izzy Folau by far if he stayed on the wing.
How long did he play on the wing mate?
He barely played wing in super rugby. You could say the same about Cullen or Jordan
@@Youre Prime Folau wing attributes > imo
Too bad he is a clown who believed his ego was bigger than the game....what did he walk away with?, 5mil?....pretty sure the Country he represented could do with that dosh right now....Israel Folau.....yeah naaah.
*if he wasn't a bigot
Can someone tell bryn to stop saying "in and around"🤣🤔 probably said it 20 times this week. Good show though
Should never have been dropped by the All Blacks.
Would like to see caleb at 12 & emoni at 13.. as much as i like rieko & jordie, them 2 are way too prone to getting tackled. There defensive most likely saves them but man they have no seasoning on attack
Caleb and Narawa in the centers would be a disaster 😂
@@Youre rieko & jordie are basic on attack bru have u seen them? They're just there for defense. & idk how they'd be a disaster since caleb fits the trad 12 role ( crash & bash ) & consistently beat players with his strength, jordie is big for nothing 🤦🏽♂️ & narawa offers more than rieko every day of the week
@@floziq8117yes let's bring two pure wingers into the midfield, to replace two of our most experienced all blacks , in an already inexperienced team 😂
@@tms9k568 faingaanuku was less experienced than clarke & yet he took over his position at the world cup. Experience helps but it ain't everything
@@floziq8117 he took his position because he was in far better form and is not a defensive liability. Leicester is way more versatile and has actually payed in the midfield
Nah. Jonah first, rupeni 2nd.. then debate the rest
It doesn’t count if there’s no South African teams.
click baited! Of course he isn't. He's in great form this season but to call him the greatest ever is nonsensical drivel
Caleb Clarke too one dimensional.
With more pies he can expand to 3D
Either way, he's looking so much sharper. Who knows?
CHIEFS been forgotten 🤗🤭😋beware
He may statistically be right up there but come on, I doubt he would break the top 10 of super rugby all time wingers.
No
Nope.
Been plenty better than sevu Reece. Some people have short memories
no. jonah is.
crusaders supporter.
didnt even need to watch the clip.
Telea deserves to be picked over Reece. His World Cup performances were good reece was injured but he hasn't been a model citzen so that might be the difference tbh
bros living in 2018
That would be Byran Habannah
Let's see
Jonah Goldie Cully Dougie Rupeni
Sevu is not even close
Sevu has more tries than most of them and a better strike rate than all of them lol
Nope
Ummmmm... no disrespect to Reese bcaus he a great winger BUT!! Lets say he's not in the top 5 all time n maybe not evn top 10. Theres alot alot of supreme past wingers
They didn't say he was the best FFS. They said "effective" based on his stats.
Most effective!!!
In a world where Habana and Savea played Super Rugby, this is a ludicrous take.
That was then, this is now
@@pirate3599 it says "ever"
Great player but his domestic abuse history removes him from every and any accolade in my opinion. Amazingly brushed under the carpet in NZ.
Same with "the Bus" Julian Savea...another woman beater.
Your past is squeaky clean??
@@salomiodendaal4473 I'm 60yrs old, so no, my past is not squeaky clean but I've never beat any of my exes (and there has been a few to verify that) or laid a hand on a child....EVER....AND I'm not a role model being lauded on social media either
