I went there as a kid when it was more of an amusement park. As a kid I absolutely loved it. I thought it was great and have fond memories of it. I even have a souvenir from it sitting on my desk in front of me. From what I remember the garden part of it was beautiful and tranquil. I was sad to hear that it was closed but I guess if it went down hill and couldn't be sustained than I guess it wouldn't have been as good as I remembered it was while it was at its end.
Sometimes the memory in your head is better for sure 😂 however if you visited Legoland Florida today, you'd find the remnants of Cypress Gardens in great condition!
Grew up going to cypress gardens every year. I loved the addition of the roller coasters over time. I remember after Katrina how it was sad we could never go on the boat rides through the gardens anymore. As a Lego fan I was do excited to see they would be taking over and restoring the park and preserving it's legacy. I do wish they still had the more complex ski show though.
I remember the southern bells and water skiers. We went the summer i had a broken ankle and a southern bell attendant pushed me around all day with my family
We were down that way I think in early 2000. We saw the Daytona racetrack, the ski show and the glass bottom boat ride. Wasn't here a tower ride at one of the places?
Am glad the Pope Legacy lives on with the Botanical gardens. "This is Cinerama" does the Park justice; and is a must see as an example of the grandeur the Florida jewel once had.

They’re adding the boat ride thru cypress gardens back to the park.
