The only gender reveal that I full heartedly supported was a gender reveal party that parents had for their teenage trans kid. It was a “sorry, we got it wrong 15 years ago”.
Gender reveal parties aren't really the issue. It's the crazy stuff they do during them that's dangerous or heavily bad for the environment that's the problem.
I remember when I started to think I may be asexual (I'm actually more Demisexual, but same umbrella), and I told my sisters. They both kinda brushed it off, but then a while later they said how they "consulted the spirits" via a handmade spirit board. When they asked the spirits if I was gay, they replied"no," but when asked if I was straight, the spirits said "no" to that as well. "So what _are_ you??" I just deadpanned, "I told you, I'm Ace." So even if my sisters at the time didn't get it, at least I know I'm completely valid in the eyes of nonspecific spirits of the paranormal variety ♡
LMAO! I had a similar experience once. There was this nice old Indian guy at a shop who offered to tell my romance fortune. I agreed, just out of curiosity as to what technique he would use. He pulled out cards, told me to pick a few while thinking about my partner, standard stuff. Of course, he was assuming my partner was a man and I figured it was better not to correct that assumption. Then he started interpreting the cards, and I started getting really spooked. Not only was everything he was saying about the relationship true, but the cards seemed to know my partner was female.
I'm reminded of high school. Due to my constant refusal to accept any of the confessions I received, there were quite a few people questioning my sexuality. But no one could reach a consensus. The straight kids could tell I wasn't straight. The queer kids could tell I wasn't showing interest in the same gender either. I was basically a cryptid to their very sexual motivated teenage minds. It benefited me in the end as when I came out as asexual grayromantic, no one questioned it. Many just went "oh, that makes so much more sense."
My niece called me to say she was bi. I said Im ace. You can have all the boys and all the girls. She didnt know I was ace yet as I rarely get to see here (live on opposite sides of the world) and when we are together, sexual attraction never comes up in convos.
5:03 reminds me of that one meme with "Me looking for the country with the 🏳⚧ flag because all the cute girls have it in their bio" and a video of a dude tearing through a jungle with a machete
My favorite accidental ally thing I've ever encountered IRL is someone telling my demisexual friend "You just haven't met the right person yet." Like... yeah, that's the definition of demisexuality.
so I am a gay demisexual as I know I am gay, but haven't met someone I want to spend every day of my life with that is also gay. Edit: I am perfectly fine with it btw
Omg! I hope you meet your soul mate soon, hun! Everyone deserves love! I'll be rootin for ya, even if we don't know each other! Cuz I love love and hate hate! Go get em, tiger! @@superJK92
Ngl for the longest time I thought "Wouldn't everyone be demi? Why is there a specific term for that? Who DOESN'T wait for the right person to spend the rest of their life with?" Then I realised that e.g. people who hook up with other people even if they don't know them well are quite common 💀
Lady with the 8 billion genders made my jaw drop. That is the most affirming, most positive, and probably the most wholesome mentality towards gender I have ever heard. "You are your own gender," is such an endearing thought to tell people, that I would treat her to as many meals as my wallet would allow.
I was like “well, in one sense, yes.” That’s a valid point. One can dig down far enough into the micro scale for that to be true. It’s like matter. How many states of them are there? Well, once you get to plasma then things get WILD if you dig down further. But saying there are 2 is like saying there are 3 states of matter. Nah. I remember when I spend half an hour telling two friends of mine “no, there’s more than animal, vegetable and mineral”.
Even if you want to break it down to science, no one is exactly the same not even on a microscopic or molecular level. The number of cells and chromosomes and things in general in our bodies microscopically are different. The asserted numbers written out for these things are generalizations just to give the public a very simplified version but it gets extremely complex when you try to analyze the entire body under a microscope.
@@AIHumanEquality identical twins have different _finger prints_ *(?)* (I think that's how they are called in english, the design in your fingers used to identify you?) Even when they have the exact same DNA.
20:40 The original gender reveal came from a mother who miscarried many, many times before pregnancy stuck, and they were just so happy it goylt far enough that sex could be told. She doesn't understand the psychotic tradition of bravado, pollution and explosions either.
I think she also just…made a cake and posted a picture of it. Which yeah that’s a perfectly normal and sane way to do a reveal. Also if I’m not mistaken her kid is also enby. Not sure when exactly they had come out but I recall that being part of the story as well.
@@Boundwithflame23you are correct! The kid still uses she/her pronouns but presents her gender in a very masculine way. The mom said she wants her kids to grow up in a world where gender does not matter & thinks society's current concept of gender is limiting & exploitative. The entire family sounds based tbh.
I also feel it worth emphasizing that the kid in question is… maybe in high school now? Possibly still junior high? I think she was like 11 the first time I read an article about it a few years ago. So worth keeping in mind how very recent this trend is, and honestly how cool it is that this family let their pre-teen kid discover how she liked to express herself with no stress or drama, just… sure, be who you are.
yeah a big point of the gender reveal party was to celebrate that the pregnancy had progressed so far you could tell the sex of the baby, not actually a celebration of what gender the future child would be
One of the prides I have living in Canada is that Canada is considered the safest country for LGBTQ people. We even added LGBTQ into our laws as a protected minority group.
One of my prides of living in the Netherlands is that we were the first country in the world that legalised gay marriage. I know, because my Grannies married the next year.
I really hope this continues to be true. What's going on in New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, and Alberta along with Pierre Poilievre's comments have been getting concerning
This reminds me... When I had just started my transition (MtF) I went shopping with one of my best friends (male), and the cashier insisted after seeing the name on my card that my "boyfriend" had to sign for the receipt. I told her no, that's my card. She didn't believe me, because I was CLEARLY a lady, and the name was quite obviously male. This was before hormones or any surgery or anything. I had only let my hair grow out, shaved and was wearing a poofy dress to hide my (lack of) curves. I don't think she was even trying to be mean or anything, she just saw a woman, in male company, paying with a card that has a male name on it and guessed that it must be the "husband"'s card. But that still was such an amazing, affirming moment for me, it's really hard to put into words the joy I felt when I realized what had happened.
I love that! I (AFAB) recently had to switch to a different psychiatrist, and when I called to make an appointment I had to give my legal name, which hasn't been changed yet (and is pretty feminine), and she asked if I was setting up an appointment for my wife or partner. I love those fun affirming moments!
That's fucking awesome I had a few moments like this I'm not trans, just non-binary and I try to be androgynous and some people sometimes just think I'm a women. Like mostly infront of out local supermarket, xD. It's just people telling their child stuff like "Let that lady go through" or similar stuff And one time one perspn corrected themselves after hearing my voice and I just quickly went "Oh no, you were right" and just walked into the store
20:40 Fun fact: The first gender reveal was held because the mother kept having one miscarriage after another and this was the first time the baby had survived long enough for her to know their sex. The mother did not intend for it to be such a big thing and has since disavowed them, both because of the dangerous ones involving wildfires and alligators, and because the very same baby from the first reveal (who is now a girl who wears suits - though not non-binary, as the Reddit comment said) taught her about the diversity of gender.
Wholesome Ally Moment: I came out to my Christian grandparents and they supported me, grandma was like "Feel free to come to the door and introduce me to your girlfriend" I was crying- 🏳🌈🏳🌈
I got a half wholesome half bruh one but it's my friends story, they came out as nonbinary to their Christian grandparents and they supported it but her grandma has bad memory lost at times, so my friend had to come out a second time to her but the second time her grandma didn't support it 😭 and my friend really said welp just wait for her to forget and come out again 💀💀💀
The "Satan Respects Pronouns" wasn't actually an accidental ally! It's from a designer that makes a slew of pastel queer stuff. Really glad to hear their designs are making it more mainstream, 'cause they're pretty kickass. In case you couldn't read it in the video, it's Abprallen - I know them from Etsy, but they might be on other platforms.
The funniest thing about trans women being banned from entering the miss Italy competition is that it implies that trans women have a natural advantage over cis women when it comes to wearing nice outfits and looking pretty in them
I always find it hilarious how transphobes confuse the terms "trans men" and "trans women". They think the "woman" or "man" part is towards their sex assigned at birth, when it's referring to their gender identity 💀
@@Milbyte11I can basically guarantee that at the time you didn't think about trans people much other than "okay so thats a thing, cool". While these spiteful people spend a weirdly large portion of their personal time thinking about it, yet still getting it wrong.
If you are a trans woman, transphobes still see you as a man (and trans), hence the “trans man”. They are confusing this exactly because they are transphobic
@@Milbyte11I mean it IS pretty dumb to think of genitals and even weirder to see a penis and go "MEN" If you said "MALE" you'd have more chances to be mostly right but, I'd avoid thinking about that so much... appart from yours and your sexual partners genital, think about that all you want
@@draalttom844you reminded me of the last time i saw my dermatologist. She was referring to me as she/her and all until i asked her to check a mole down there. after seeing my penis she then misgendered me when asking the nurse to take a note 😂 i dont think she meant to, but shes probably just never said the words "her penis" so close together before
40:12 For everyone: this isn't ACCIDENTALLY ally. It is intentional. It's not to be anti Satan and anti trans. The design is from a trans guy named Erik from the UK. He actually has created a brand and called it "Abprallen" for these things and even has an online shop with a bunch of other cool trans and other queer affirming merch! Highly recommend checking his stuff out! It' just really cool and funny AND pretty affordable🤩🏳️🌈
I have a “whoops, I helped them” moment too. I work at a magazine and we have a page where us employees comment on stuff. It has our name and picture. I only figured out last year I’m a trans guy (I’m in my 30s), so before that I obviously had a woman’s name, but I already had short hair and didn’t dress femininely. So a reader sent me a nasty handwritten letter about how ugly I am and that I look like I’d prefer to be a man and whatnot. I received said letter right after figuring out as trans, so the letter actually helped me with coming out: I’d show it to my coworkers cause it was hilarious and then I could go “you know they have a point when they write I look like I’d rather be a man cause surprise, I’m trans!” The letter was so helpful cause finding the right moment to come out is so hard. By now we use a new photo in our magazines with my new name and I really hope I’ll get another letter from that person. I’d love to hear their opinion 🤣
I think it's fine to not be attracted to someone, or lose attraction, because they don't have the 'right' genitals for what you're attracted to. It's how you handle it that makes you an asshole. Big difference between saying "we aren't sexually compatible" and "You're not really a man/woman because you do/don't have a penis". Sexual compatibility is an important factor.
Same way that some people get icked out by (non-offensive) tattoos, or piercings, or even the way someone chews food or sleeps. In an ideal world, being trans would be treated the exact same way as any one of these: it's just a thing about a certain person that you - in your own tastes - don't gel with.
I support fully genital preference but it still pains me more than i will ever admit that it happens, being non-binary and pansexual. I'm more inclined towards men in a gay way but since I'm afab and I'm comfortable in not presenting very masc, I know it's just impossible for me I'm gonna be seen as a female. It hurts my brain because, again, totally on board with it, but damn :(
As a Asexual person, I got some people who confused Asexuality with Asexual Animals. Someone didn't think human can feel little to no sexual attraction towards people
It shouldn't be that hard to understand, yet some people still don't. Recently had someone asking me "But does *it* work though?" when I was talking about being ace, definitely a very weird and personal question
What? You can't self reproduce to make a perfect clone of yourself? Outrageous! This is just like that time I went to a 10,000 Maniacs concert and it was just 5 normal people!
Pregnancy and labor can be terrifying and painful. For me, the idea of having a fun party with a nice cake that had a secret color inside letting me know "surprise, it's a [sex]" was something that helped me push through some of the more painful early parts of my VERY difficult pregnancy. If my child later comes out as trans, that's OK! It doesn't take away the fun of that party or the loving memories we all shared of that experience. Whenever they were ready, I would just offer to throw a SECOND "gender reveal" with a new cake for my kid's coming out party!
The only reason they gained such a taboo energy is because of all the large scale disasters some idiots caused. And lately I've noticed people using the acts of 1 as evidence against everything even close. Generalities just bring down society.
15:03 "labels are an approximation" YES OH MY GOD. I cannot tell you how many times I've had the conversation of myself using the label as trans due to it being an accurate approximation. Not to mention it much better explains how I feel about myself and the way I present rather than going into the nitty gritty of why I actually feel this way.
Yeah same. To me she seems like the kind of person that is both able to and willing to think about how things are and is about to have a leftie awakening because of it.
Accidental allys are so funny a girl I was friends with was not the greatest person so I blocked her (that's another story). She then tried to misgender me and use my birth gender pronouns (at the time i used they/them). She assumed from my presentation I was AMAB and tried to misgender me by using he/him pronouns and told me I'd "never be a woman". Jokes on her, I'm AFAB and she just kept affirming my identity. I now use they/he.
That's kind of how I realized I was trans. I was being supportive on Twitter as you do, and a bunch of people insisted on calling me "he/him" because I had a femme profile pic... which was a drawing of myself. The euphoria on some days was just... amazing.
My glasses agree. Nature and evolution are the definition of "eh, if it survives long enough help sustain the species I don't care how many flaws it has. Or legs."
Yeah nature has a logic, it's a logic. Just... not flawless, like... most animals are messed up when you think about how they act with each other. Did you know that every rabbit will commit necr0phillia if they can? Well...
those boars whose tusks grow long enough and curve around to eventually pierce their own brains? yep. that's nature. but by then the boars have lived long enough to procreate and make more of themselves. as long as the species as a whole survives, nature really doesn't give a crap
Like our brains aren't fully developed until 25 but at 25 our bodies start breaking down. All babies are born too early because the birth cannal is too small. Just giving birth can be lethal. Thanks "perfect" nature!
I just had to mention, in the meme about Miss Italy the comment about "biological men having an unfair advantage" really comes across as the person saying it just viewing Trans Women as mega attractive. Maybe they're one of those "Chasers" I've heard about.
Bavaria is famously conservative so they banned gendered language in schools and other official capacities. This is basically the "there are no genders/there are 8bn genders" meme. Unfortunately they failed to understand that German is a gendered language, so by banning pronouns they may have accidentally evened the way for a more inclusive language xD
Sick. “Genders?! Not even gonna deal with that!” “So you want gender-neutral language?” “I… well, it’s better than admitting anyone is whatever or something!”
Having studied German, I laughed way too long at this. No regrets. 😆🤣 Knife, fork, and spoon all have different genders... now what? They'd all be... neuter? Oh my, that would be a seismic shift!
39:14 This reminds me of something that happened at my workplace some months ago. Apparently some trans woman had appeared on Danish TV and my boomer colleagues kept on using fem pronouns for her, but sometimes they would remember that "she's a man" and recorrect themselves in order to misgender her - it was such a weird and funny thing to witness. Like... You clearly percieve her as a woman as you have to try really hard to purposefully misgender her😂 so why can't you just... You know... Let her be who she is as it's literally taking more of an effort for you to misgender her...
But accepting her trans identity and the implication of her existance is still an effort, misgendering her is like a way to "defend themselfs from the evil gay agenda" to them
@@minestar2247 I don't know, man... The fact that they had established her as a woman in their minds - while knowing she's AMAB - tells me that deep down they have accepted her as a woman and see her as such. It's just them not understanding "trans" that raises their hackles and makes them cross their arms like little children saying "she's a man".
@@lampekartoffel actually, i dont think the same, I think they litterally just forgot she was trans, and so you'd see them act the same way as they would to any woman. I don't think it's that easy to accept trans people as that, because even explaining the concept is hard
@@minestar2247 How can they forget she's trans when the whole conversation was about her being trans? And don't get me wrong, I don't think they're accepting of her being trans (they've made quite clear they're transphobic) I'm saying that they percieve her as a woman and only by consciously reminding themselves of the fact she's trans, do they remember to misgender her and see that she's "actually a man".
16:57 That happens to cis people too. I've been called a girl and gay for things that have nothing to do with my gender or sexuality and when it happens I just tell them "You're absolutely right, I'm a LESBIAN!" in the deepest manliest voice I can muster which usually shuts them up. I'm not actually a lesbian of course, I'm a straight man but it's funny to watch people's reactions when they try to insult me and I just agree with them in a way they didn't expect. Does that count as "Traumatize them back"?
I'm a cis woman whose hair was kept short as a girl in the 1980s because Mom worked full-time and didn't want to deal with tangles/braids/etc. for me and my sister. I was fine with it, because I was very much a "tomboy" who didn't care about skirts, pigtails, and stereotypically "girl things". (And as soon as my sister and I were old enough to take proper care of our own hair, we were free to do whatever we wanted with it - Sis grew hers out in junior high, I mostly kept mine short into my late 20s.) The number of times I got mistaken for a boy as a kid.... 🙄Even got told I was in the wrong bathroom at least once. "We can always tell," sure...
@@ButMadNNW626 - I gotta confess, I made a mistake of saying that to a girl who had short hair. As she was entering the bathroom, I said: “That’s the girls’ bathroom”, which I was corrected for. Later on, a teacher in our class notified us of an incident involving the girl and being mistaken for a boy, but they didn’t know who it was. I talked to the teacher in private and admitted it was me and I wanted to apologize to her so badly, which I was able to do. Do you ever want to punch your past self in the face so badly? I still cringe at that memory, I hope it didn’t affect her too much.

15:59 Reminds me of something I read on tumblr once: Even if you believe women are pink and men are blue, that doesn't make every other color a shade of purple.
a bit off topic but in the older days (at least) where I live, queens were assigned with a dark blue colour while kings were assigned with red, but for princes and princesses, they would mix in white with their royal assigned colour so girls would have light blue while boys had pink!
@@jwideuluisinaein That reminds me that in 1920s U.S pink was accepted more as being for boys (being bold and flashy) and blue was for girls (being pretty and dainty). This gradually changed over time, with blue = boys and pink = girls being the new norm by the 1940s as trends of dressing little kids as tiny adults became popular. Since a lot of work clothes were blue, and men were usually the breadwinners of the family, little boys wore more blue. Since they couldn't both be blue, girls got the pink!
9:55 this whole thing reminded me of an episode that happened in Italy a month or two ago. A person went to a pizzeria and complained in a post online that the table they sat at was next to the table of a disabled person and a gay couple. The pizzeria owner replied to the post basically telling the customer that her pizzeria was open to anyone, and if they had any problems with that, they could just go to another place to eat. Afterwards, a bunch of bigots started attacking this poor woman simply for being a queer ally. The pizzeria owner drowned herself. Rest in Peace, Giovanna 🙏 🕊
"A large portion of people don't understand what they're hating" Well yea. Hate born from prejudice is fundamentally born from a lack of understanding as it is not rooted in any form of logic.
Sort of yes and also no. Like, yeah, lots of the time they don't quite understand, but there are plenty of people who understand just fine, and still are bigoted and hateful. Knowledge doesn't inherently make someone less bigoted.
@@AnnekeOosterink Maybe I'm just not getting your point, but I don't see how transphobes who can competently explain the complexity of gender in different human societies could possibly exist. There's always something that bigoted people don't understand.
@@AnnekeOosterink That is actually incorrect, like, all around. I'm not saying that the misunderstanding justifies anything or means you owe them an explanation, but knowledge DOES inherently make someone less bigoted. Obviously, there are some people like Matt Walsh who seem to understand just fine and knows what they're doing is wrong, but at that point it isn't hate. It is sociopathic indifference, because the bigots that follow them, and believe them, and pay them need their beliefs to be validated constantly or they won't support them anymore. I don't really know why this bothers me so much, but I REALLY feel like I need to make these two things clear: Bigotry is _inherently_ born from misunderstanding, and bigots aren't owed an explanation if they can't teach themselves. You don't need to tell yourself that they know what they're doing is wrong to justify hating them.
the thing about labels to me is also like.. people will refer to themselves by labels anyway. Like, the quote unquote labels I used for myself before finding "demisexual" were "broken", "frigid" and "prude." Thats why the label matters to me, because it's one of the very few positive ones I have to refer to how I feel and how I function
Yup. This was a big thing for me as someone who is not only asexual and agender, but also autistic & ADHD. I was an outcast everywhere I went. People treated me like a freak. Asked me to my face what was wrong with me. These labels have flipped my mental health around a full 180 degrees. What I thought were character flaws were just natural deviations in human expression. And I now have the words to explain that to people so i finally can be accepted for who i am
Couple years ago my wife (who is ace) and I told a friend of mine “you’re not weird for not being into X Y or Z. You can just be you, and if you think ace fits you, no one will push you away.” He came out pretty soon after. I did a cree
labels like that can be really helpful. but even more so, i think it's just more expansive vocab, so that people can describe themselves with terms that don't feel awful and hurtful. and what's most important I think is removing NEGATIVE labels and not using descriptors with shitty connotations, you know? i was a lot of things before i was neurodivergent. different or quirky, those were fine. freak, not so much.
Every time I see the argument "God doesn't make mistakes." I always respond with "What about pedophiles?" They always become so flustered and angry. "God makes everyone in his image." "Oh, so God's a pedophile?" They HATE it.
Read until the end: God doesn't make mistakes, but sin messed everything up. How do you God didn't plan for to be , but sin messed up their biology and forced them into the wrong agab?
31:50 I actually have a wholesome thing to add to that. Sadly a lot of churches and very religious people are vehemently against queer and trans people, but one of the large churches where I live actually has a giant pride flag on the gallery with something along the line of "everyone deserves love and respect" written on it. I think it's nice to know that even even in mids the rotten compost that is religious fanatics there still blume some rare flowers of compassion.
My home synagogue has a gay rabbi (first openly-gay student at the Jewish Theological Seminary), and two “all gender” bathrooms. My local synagogue has an openly gay rabbi. The local HASIDIC rabbi is super accepting about anything that isn’t in the way of keeping traditions (which is complicated af, but there you go). If I wanted to go hard on my Judaism, there are some queer-accepting ultra-orthodox communities. Most on on the east coast, I think, but yeah. There’s also the fact that Jews don’t care what gentiles do, and focus on their local community so even homophobic people don’t really bother people. You’re also not supposed to speak badly of or fight with any other Jew. I’m talking Judaism a lot, because, well, it’s my world, and I like it here.
Presbyterians accept queers and have a policy to not even try to convert Jews. I need to remind my Presbyterian MIL if she ever tries to convince me “but Jesus” again.
I find the whole thing of straight guys agonising over whether it's straight or gay to be attracted to trans women so weird. I'm a gay man and according to these guys I should be repulsed by some gorgeous trans guy because they have XX chromosomes? Why the hell would I care?
Toxic "muh chronosome" straights when someone with Swyer Syndrome walks in (genetic condition in which the "boy-maker" SRY genes fail to activate, so what comes out is a physical female with XY chromosome)
I don't thinks it's the chromosomes that are the issue at all. As a pansexual demi-ace AFAB NB who has had these kind of conversations with their cisgender heterosexual panromantic husband, it really is just the utter disinterest in the 'incorrect' (for the sexuality of the individual) genitalia that causes a bit of confusion. Like there's no panic or repulsion, or dramatic BS, just "how does someone handle this specific situation in a polite manner?". Sex and sexual attraction is about bodies, physical forms (much as we don't like to admit it) more even than minds and hearts. We're not talking about love or any other emotional attachment here, just the physical actions of sex. As a demi-ace I literally have to have emotional investment in someone to be interested in sex, but I still have physical preferences, though way fewer than most gay or straight people I've talked to. If you find vag*na or d*ck repulsive, well, that's not your fault. How you treat the person IS your fault. Just be polite! If we shouldn't get angry about someone having a physical preference for tall women over short, or such, why do we have to get defensive when we talk about genitals? We need more open, civil, communication, not less.
@@emia0908 - "physical forms (much as we don't like to admit it) more even than minds and hearts." Oh, that's very much what I mean. That's what makes it strange to me. I mention chromosomes because it's something that people absolutely cannot tell just from looking, but it's equally true of things like genitals - if you can't see them, then your attraction based on what you *can* see shouldn't really be mitigated by them. I guess these guys think that their brain has somehow picked up on someone's inherent maleness even though they can't see it in any way.
36:42 I did have an unintentional impact tho. There was/is a bug in Starfield where you suddenly can't shoot, and the solution found by fans was unironically "go trans".
Here’s an actually wholesome for you. I’m a transgender man. I’m underage and live with my parents but they are divorced. My mom is Christian and my dad is atheist. Ever since I was a little kid every night before bed my dad and I would say goodnight to eachother in French. I have been learning French since kindergarten and my dad is interested in learning. The first line from either of us was always. dad:“bon nuit mon petit Mademoiselle.” (Goodnight my little lady) me: “bon nuit papa.” (Goodnight dad) then we would go on with the rest. I came out to him about a year ago. And that night when I went to bed he said to me. “Bon nuit mon petit monsieur” (goodnight my little Mr/man) I swear I responded with tears in my eyes. Ever since that day he has called me by l preferred pronouns. Only used my nickname when saying my name (my nickname is gender neutral) and introduced me to people as his son. He is the most supportive person I have in my life and I love him.
Transphobes really be like "you'll never be a real man" to someone who looks like a viking who just swallowed 10 litres of protein powder and played through every Doom game while benchpressing the nearest 16 wheeler
Best actually transphobic comment I ever got was when I at work at the male toilet, since I worked alone and someone had to do it - me simply opening the window - dude comes in screams at me "U don't belong here and U never will be a man" - me in a snow white dress as trans women standing there and be like thx?
A few years ago in Russia they did a survey on a street in a very conservative Russian town. They simply asked people "What is your opinion on heterosexuality?" The results were hilarious. Most people only knew the term "homosexuality" but they did not know what "heterosexuality" means. Many gave "homophobic" answers such as "Well even if they have TRUE LOVE still they cannot have children..." or "OF COURSE I know several people like this but I am against it..." Like many of they sounded as if they have a very romantic view of homosexuals or as if they think that 50 percents of all people are LGBT+. But also they did not even know what "heterosexuality" means so they were saying all of that stuff about heterosexuality believing that they talk about gay people.

Even before their child came out as nb, the person that created gender reveals hated what it had become. I think i remember that the only reason she had one in the first place is because that was her first to make it to the point you can tell in an ultrasound after a lot of miscarriages. It was more a celebration of that then revealing the gender

I'm sighing right now, you don't have to be anything but you do, just be a boy or girl and be straight, don't be trans, be who you are, not someone else, if your birth sex is boy you're a boy, if your birth sex is girl you're a girl, if you're straight you can actually be able to contribute to the world's population, and if you're straight you can also be regular😀
I am a cis woman, and I have pronouns in my bio. The amount of times I've been called a man and misgendered just because they refuse to believe I am a woman is hilarious.
Lmfaoo that's hilarious!! I've had some ppl even assume I was a man once or twice too lmfao! The only thing is my chest makes me auto read as a woman and I hate it.
Not to mention that the A in LGBTQIA+ stands for "ace." And to say they (we? I'm still not sure) don't belong at a Pride parade simply because we don't desire sexual relationships only further reduces being gay or bi into being about nothing more than sex, which is something many already think anyways. Not to mention, it dismisses the "identity" part of the community, which is varied and nuanced.
Friend of mine came out as ace last year, and I’m looking forward to celebrating pride month. I didn’t for years (Iunno. I just didn’t feel like it was my thing. One year I decided to consume media only at least mostly-queer, but yeah), but to send a “happy pride!” message to him every day is something I’m super hype for. He’s been really publicly uncomfortable and awkward about being “weird” and such for over 10 years (he’s kind of well known. Not gonna drop names), and he seems to be much more comfortable and confident in general this year, despite stress. It makes me misty in the eyes 😢
I mean part of the pride parade is an expression of sexuality so I could understand an asexual person being uncomfortable with it but why the heck would anyone be uncomfortable if an asexual wanted to be there. I’ve seen straight people visit pride in solidarity too. I’m genuinely confused. I don’t see anything wrong with asexuality so maybe I’m not capable of understanding. Just make an ace flag float so they can represent or is that being excluding?
@@Skullhawk13 Pride parades and celebrating who you like and who you are is not inherently sexual. Heck, many kids and families are there. Anyone who's in the community of just wants to support should be welcomed.

4:08 the things is, that because dc have a multiverse then it’s pretty much certain that there’s already someone like that in some universe that we haven’t seen yet.
Yeah, that's the principle of the multiverse, you want to have a black actor playing Batman? It's another universe. Something doesn't fit the plot of 50000 comic issues? It's another multiverse. You want to change a major character's gender? Multiverse. It's like it was made for that

Wait, it wasn't legal before? That's surprising... I was sure I read that some of the BL actors who got into a relationship during shows got married - but maybe they got married overseas 🤔
OK, I'm biologically female but I'm a nonbinary Lesbian using they/he pronouns. One time in school someone tried to mock me saying: "he looks like a lesbian" it was quit nice to see that he got what I was going for.

@@lampekartoffel Well, yes, be sure from what I've seen, it's supposed to be: sex --> gender --> gender expression. The arrows are causal, so they use the expression to go back and get the original information, but in some cases you get a problem where what you analyse with isn't in accord with what you want to know, and this is where transphobia starts
7:49 - Yes, that was meant to be anti-trans... this was trying to show how LGBTQ+ is trying to make trans look cool/awesome to kids, and cis look boring (to make kids excited/wanting to become trans)
Oh Yeah, that's a pretty common argument that I see people use when there is gay representation in western media, and I sometimes try to explain, but hey always awnser by "it's not normal, it's deviance, so they shouldn't try to normalize it"

@@N0rmalDude Yea, but "the norm" often accounts for things like common mental illnesses, a variety of different birth defects, and needing to wear glasses, so not acknowledging intersex people's existence is willful ignorance with questionable motivation. The norm doesn't matter anymore in the modern world. Whatever the case, I'm not sure if I understand why you felt the need to say that. Talking about trans people automatically means we aren't talking about "the norm". It's like if someone said "I hate when people say ADHD is just being unable to focus, because it's like saying depression is just being sad" and you responded "well, depression is rare" and thinking that somehow works as a counterpoint. No, three isn't a "reasonable stance", because you're either talking about the genetic norm for people (2 sexes, and even that is debatable since the Y chromosome seems to be a messed up version of the X chromosome), or you're talking about _all_ viable possibilities. No, that doesn't mean 87, stupid.
My favorite bar is only my favorite bar because it has three restrooms. Male, female, and then "restroom". I'm pretty sure I started realizing I am Non-binary, when I started playing Starfield. I set up my character to be really sick, yet gender neutral looking. Then added the they/them pronouns. I started figuring out sometime after that. But Starfield was definitely the start. :3
You know what'd be awesome in a game like that where you pilot a vessel of some kind and your character regularly refers to it in conversations in that way pilots and sea captains refer to their vessels, if you could designate pronouns for the *ship* other than the typical she/her. No impact on the game, and only your character would say 'em, but it'd be damn funny. We told her we didn't want to find out, since it didn't matter, and her reply was "I guess you don't know for sure until they are about five or so anyway" It has nothing to do with this video, but it's so wholesome I like to tell the story whenever I have the chance.
"Someone left their luggage at their hotel room can you call them up to get it" is a sentence once said by a friend of me who works as a receptionist. he himself had never been too against gay rights or lgbtq related stuff. But he has always thought of the label they/them as something stupid. always preferred the Swedish word Hen which is the combination of him and her. anyways when i pointed out that he used they and them to speak about a single person and that it wasn't plural was he baffled.
15:20 that’s the exact reason I like the “labels”. I had never heard of the term asexual until I was trying to explain my feelings (or lack thereof) to a friend. I felt so much relief. I wasn’t a ‘late bloomer’ , nor was I ‘broken’. Having labels means that there are other people who feel the same way. It means you’re not alone. And I know that we praise being unique, but in some cases you just want to fit in. And the Reddit community really helped me understand myself a lot better.
I also like this about labels! I also like that you can meet new people and immediately tell them a lot about yourself (if they know the label, that is). It saves me a lot of awkward sharing of very personal and long winded details about my sexuality and gender
As an AroAce person who studied biology, I can affirm that... In truth, gender does not exist. At least in my country's language, gender is a term that only exists in social studies. What we study is sex, which can be chromosomal and gonadal. I hope with my best wishes that all trans women become the women they always wanted to be. And I hope all trans men become the men they always hoped for. If anyone non-binary reads this, may you become the Eldritchian horror beyond poor human comprehension that you were always meant to be. 14:22 A little while back, on one of Jammidodger's videos titled "Would You Date a Trans Person?", someone replied to my comment about my mental journey of becoming open to dating a pre-op trans woman by saying that, even if a woman is post-op, I'm still gay if I'm AMAB and attracted to her. That only strengthened my belief that non-attraction to trans people simply because they're trans is learned and not innate.
Funny thing is: I'm leaning towards being bigender (still slightly questioning), which would technically make me both straight (as a man) and gay (as a woman). So I would indeed be gay if I were attracted to a trans woman, just not the way this person thinks.

I wouldnt say sexuality only exists because gender exists. Even animals have sexualities, what with gay penguins and the like, and im pretty sure they dont have a concept of gender. @@minestar2247 i think it's because, even if we didnt have words assigned to the concepts, there would still be the fact that most people would only be attracted to certain subsets of the population, and it would vary from person to person, just like it does now. Isn't that what we call sexuality? That said, OP is definitely right that it's all just loving who you love. As long everyone's a consenting adult, nothing else should matter.
Being bi/pan I agree, I feel entitled to being the default option instead of a secondary unlockable just because people like the gender binary so much.
16:20 it's like the difference between descriptive vs prescriptive grammar. Prescriptive grammar (or, in this case, gender/sexuality) is where you go "I identify as straight, therefore I must feel X Y and Z." whereas descriptively, it would look like "I feel X Y and Z, therefore I label myself as identifying as Straight (or gay or Aspec or whatever)"
I have a mtf Trans colleague in another team. She has such a deep voice and "manly" demeanor that when just thinking of her appearance and name it's nearly impossible to missgender her, but right after being on a call with her, even with video, I really struggle. And I wouldn't struggle if I didn't know she was Trans, awareness is great, but sometimes it puts knowledge in your head that plays tricks. Many of my team mates refer to her as "him" out of habit and it's tiring to correct them but I know I should.
For some people it's hard especially when the trans person isn't well passing because of multiple reasons. But as long as it isn't out of malice and that people try their best I am sure she takes no offence.
If you want a tip, I'd suggest doing a couple of practice sentences in your head every now and then. Imagine that you're telling somebody else about her, for example: "(name) is my colleague, she works in deparment ___ and her tasks include ___ and ___. She usually joins us in these calls, and if you need to email her, her email address is this __." That kinda drills the right pronoun associations into your brain even if the exercise may feel a bit silly. Kinda like when someone changes their first or last name, it takes time but your brain is very much capable of making new associations. I'm happy to hear you want to be supportive :)
17:46 I have always had a high “girly voice” and “girly qualities” and the moment I mention doing anything seen as remotely feminine I get weird looks from my friends and it has always made me super uncomfortable

I think I can explain the cuckoo comment (23:45) I think that commenter thought cuckoos were a made up bird that only exists for clocks Running with that idea their comment is essentially Saying "fake bird = real bird" is the same as saying "fake woman = real woman" They just made their message 2x as stupid as it would've been lol 😂
I actually have a different theory. Cuckoos don't care for their own young, instead laying their eggs in other birds nests. So the young cuckoo is "pretending" to be a different kind of bird than it actually is. Since cuckoo fledglings often kick their "siblings" out of the nest it might also be an allusion to trans women being suposedly predatory or "taking over womens' spaces". Of course that doesn't change the fact that cuckoos are indeed birds. 😂
I got a much less nice interpretation of that, mostly because of cuckoo behaviour. Horrible animal fact incoming: cuckoos lay their eggs in the nests of other birds, and they tend to hatch fairly quickly. When a baby cuckoo hatches, the first thing it does is shove all the other eggs out of the nest (rip eggs) and make itself the only hatchling receiving food. The parents have no idea it's a different species, so they just keep feeding it since it's the only one left. It's a fairly well known bird fact, so I don't think it's uncharitable to assume they were trying to make a veiled comment about "exclusion of cis women" and "taking resources". Still accidentally affirming (I guess? slightly?) but also awful.

"So what _are_ you??"
I just deadpanned, "I told you, I'm Ace."
So even if my sisters at the time didn't get it, at least I know I'm completely valid in the eyes of nonspecific spirits of the paranormal variety ♡

I’m moving to Canada
Well now I wanna live in Canada
One of my prides of living in the Netherlands is that we were the first country in the world that legalised gay marriage. I know, because my Grannies married the next year.

I received said letter right after figuring out as trans, so the letter actually helped me with coming out: I’d show it to my coworkers cause it was hilarious and then I could go “you know they have a point when they write I look like I’d rather be a man cause surprise, I’m trans!”
The letter was so helpful cause finding the right moment to come out is so hard.

This, absolutely this!
22:30 Who said nature is perfect? Nature has a way of saying “eh, good enough”. Otherwise we wouldn’t take in food and air through the same hole.

Nature and evolution are the definition of "eh, if it survives long enough help sustain the species I don't care how many flaws it has. Or legs."
Yeah nature has a logic, it's a logic. Just... not flawless, like... most animals are messed up when you think about how they act with each other.

Well...
those boars whose tusks grow long enough and curve around to eventually pierce their own brains? yep. that's nature.
but by then the boars have lived long enough to procreate and make more of themselves. as long as the species as a whole survives, nature really doesn't give a crap
Like our brains aren't fully developed until 25 but at 25 our bodies start breaking down. All babies are born too early because the birth cannal is too small. Just giving birth can be lethal. Thanks "perfect" nature!
Yeah, nature just throws stuff to the wall, and whatever doesn't slide down within 1 second is good enough.
Sick.
“Genders?! Not even gonna deal with that!”
“So you want gender-neutral language?”

Knife, fork, and spoon all have different genders...
But accepting her trans identity and the implication of her existance is still an effort, misgendering her is like a way to "defend themselfs from the evil gay agenda" to them
@@minestar2247 I don't know, man... a bit off topic but in the older days (at least) where I live, queens were assigned with a dark blue colour while kings were assigned with red, but for princes and princesses, they would mix in white with their royal assigned colour so girls would have light blue while boys had pink!

Well yea. Hate born from prejudice is fundamentally born from a lack of understanding as it is not rooted in any form of logic.
or just a plain old superiority complex
Sort of yes and also no. Like, yeah, lots of the time they don't quite understand, but there are plenty of people who understand just fine, and still are bigoted and hateful. Knowledge doesn't inherently make someone less bigoted.

I don't really know why this bothers me so much, but I REALLY feel like I need to make these two things clear:
Bigotry is _inherently_ born from misunderstanding, and bigots aren't owed an explanation if they can't teach themselves. You don't need to tell yourself that they know what they're doing is wrong to justify hating them.

When you think about all the inherent flaws of the human body, the idea that God's image is "perfect" is pretty silly.

I find the whole thing of straight guys agonising over whether it's straight or gay to be attracted to trans women so weird. I'm a gay man and according to these guys I should be repulsed by some gorgeous trans guy because they have XX chromosomes? Why the hell would I care?

@@GretchZ I wish you and your friend all the best in celebrating pride month this year from a fellow Ace. ♥️
I mean part of the pride parade is an expression of sexuality so I could understand an asexual person being uncomfortable with it but why the heck would anyone be uncomfortable if an asexual wanted to be there. Whatever the case, I'm not sure if I understand why you felt the need to say that. Talking about trans people automatically means we aren't talking about "the norm". it's like the difference between descriptive vs prescriptive grammar.
Prescriptive grammar (or, in this case, gender/sexuality) is where you go "I identify as straight, therefore I must feel X Y and Z."
whereas descriptively, it would look like "I feel X Y and Z, therefore I label myself as identifying as Straight (or gay or Aspec or whatever)"

I think I can explain the cuckoo comment (23:45)

Running with that idea their comment is essentially
Saying "fake bird = real bird" is the same as saying "fake woman = real woman"
They just made their message 2x as stupid as it would've been lol 😂
I actually have a different theory. Cuckoos don't care for their own young, instead laying their eggs in other birds nests.
So the young cuckoo is "pretending" to be a different kind of bird than it actually is.
Since cuckoo fledglings often kick their "siblings" out of the nest it might also be an allusion to trans women being suposedly predatory or "taking over womens' spaces".
Of course that doesn't change the fact that cuckoos are indeed birds. 😂
I interpreted it as saying that trans women are women in the same was as squares are rectangles. Pointing out the inverse isn't always true.

Yes I agree, if it did the opposite people wouldn’t call it supportive of cis ppl
If it were advocating for trans ppl then that’s a huge insult to the cis ppl
At 24:17 I was like “Wait was this not meant to be wholesome? It was transphobia!? WTF!?” And was genuinely confused lol
The artist is a nazi so yes
Whoop-Whoop No, Click. It's a pun on the Superman saying 'Is it a bird? Is it a plane?' Lol Yes cross it out! I always feel weirdly upset when the bingo isn't complete!
45:58 Ace one wasn't there but it was sweet of ya to see it out there LoL
Random commentor: "But Click, you're rigging your own bingo card."
Click, showing a piece of paper saying "I do what I want": "Don't worry, I have a permit."
😆
Random commentor seems to be under the impression that Click either doesn't make the bingo cards to begin with or that the selection of memes isn't curated? That is almost endearingly naïve. 😂
Jesus and the drag queens is my new favorite band
I genuinely love the bingo, and also the rigged bingo and cheating. It really does bring a lot to the video, both in making click have great setups for jokes, and just wholesome vibes. And cheating for the bingo is just pure fun. Makes me smile.
