  • We finally took a bus over to Malaysia, Johor Bahru and were surprised how easy it was! With my Mum and sister, Sophie and a few friends we hopped on a bus in Singapore and made the short trip over the boarder in search of food. Our friends had made the trip a few times and knew just the right places to go including a famous banana cake shop, perfect duck rice and a mystery dinner spot where the kids caught the crabs wed eat for dinner as we watched the sun set over the sea. A perfect ending to a special day trip.

    Hi Jonty and Millie, I have been following your family for over 2 years now and noticed you have slowed down due to both of you working etc. I enjoy your family trips etc and thought I might add some thoughts as I am over 60 yrs old and when younger have driven to Malaysia abit and flown to many of the Asean countries. You have not included the Arts stuff ( there should be free performances by now - esplanade open area/indoor, Botanical Gardens used to be monthly Sunday, Fort Canning - Ballet Under the stars or a Play. Also you take a train/bus (lux better) to Malacca(many things to See)/KL/Ipoh/Mersing .. East coast Giant Turtles laying eggs (Aug/Sept) later when they hatch Kuala Terengganu... Rawa Island (my fav-no Wifi in rooms) from Mersing (plus others-Tioman/Besar/etc)
    Just some thoughts - enjoy your trips etc, take care

      Hello! Thank you for the suggestions! I’m not sure whether we’ve slowed down - feels like we’re doing more than ever! We have experienced some of the arts, including a show at the esplanade theatre, wild rice and the theatre at the library but it’s hard to show these on the vlogs as we can’t film inside… Jonty’s been doing some performing on the local bars and pubs scene too, so we are covering the arts - ooh, we did film at Maduro the other week too!!

    Next time you may want to consider trying the option of taking pre-book Inter-City Train (KTM) from Woodlands Trains Station (beside the land Custom) to JB Central to avoid crowd and long queue at both Customs and more comfort with seats. [Tips: SG to JB: Instead of buying return tickets which will cost you RM33.10 (~S$9.89) in total, buy two one-way tickets separately so you pay RM21.55 (~S$6.44)]

    In the name of saving time, it may be advisable to simply alight at the train station or the blue mosque and hop on any cross border vehicle coming your way or walk. After clearing immigration.
    On that Moorish tower built in the Imperial Style, the 'Tiger of Malaya' oversaw the crossing of the strait. The shop house in a corner and a road downhill used to be 'Chua Seng' way after being a Japanese brothel doubled as spy centre.
    You missed comparing the less Cantonese wanton noodles of Ho Seng Kee. In the same building across the street from the old train station, Canton-I offered roast geese in the early afternoon without reservation.
    More famous roast ducks were served in Eastern Dragon which also offered thousands ringgit fresh water fish. Blended local cuisines were offered in Teck Sing and Ah-Yi diagonally opposite. Pig blood was available in Under the Banyan Tree. All four establishments in closer suburbia.
    Since you are willing to stay overnight, how about close to a local evening market. Or the very early morning farmers market close by Larkin terminal.
    Ever came across a report on renting car to personally drive to the countryside. If you speak the language, at least get the living daylights scared out of you by the Hapo version on the outskirts.

    It’s a disused Government office these days. But if you had a car, you might wanna go down few clicks down. There are a Royal museum and a zoo. You might wanna skip the zoo coz it’s kinda rundown, but the animals are well kept after. Also nearby is the actual Royal Palace

    Sorry, I forgot that you/your family has started a few new blogs.. so yes you guys are very busy. Understand that 'arts' events cannot be recorded, suggested the open-air/free performances ... you can also consider performances at the 2 arts school - La Salle and NAFA.. Unfortunately Singapore is still in its infancy for the Arts scene and still controlled. Anyway, hope you stay ling in Singapore and enjoy yourselves ... take care

      @WONDERLUSTworld  Рік тому

      No, don’t worry at all! Actually the other channels are not so labour intensive - just life is full and we still release wonderlust videos every Friday - never missed one! Arts has improved hugely since my dad was a student - he studied in the UK his bachelors and masters, hence why we moved and became British. But there is much more now - esplanade, sands theatres, new theatre at the Marina too - then wild rice etc. very good for such a tiny population - and always improving - we’ll get there! We hope to stay in Singapore for a very long time 😁

    Avoid crossing over to JB from 4pm to 8pm...cause that will be the peak hours with massive jams...also try not to cross over during public holidays or long weekends cause they will be massive jams too...majority of the people using the causeway are malaysians working in SG but live in JB.. so you will see massive crowds and jams daily...you could check out the traffic conditions through the cams between 5am to 8am and 6pm to 8pm...that's how terrible the jams are...🤣
