- Lifting 64,000lbs at the airport (full 360 8k)! It's been a while since I did a full 360 video, but with the X4 I'm hoping that it will look much better than we I had the GoPro MAX. The job was a standard cargo loader lift, something we do almost every week. I figured the bright environment would be a good test for the Insta360 X4, and if you guys like it I can continue to do more.
I did this job in Hulk, my 50ton rotator, accompanied by my dad in Old Yeller, his 60ton rotator. These cargo loaders are deceptively heavy, with my truck seeing about 75-80% of the total weight. Due to their large and awkward size, the transport guys need them pin point perfect on their beds. We can't have any margin of error since they travel so far and even 2 inches the wrong way can cause a world of trouble for them.
Really hoping the 360 catches this time. I know previously my 360 videos weren't too popular, but now that it's been a few years I really think this perspective can be awesome on a big job. Such as a rollover where we are super busy, I can leave this on a tripod in the middle and you guys can see the entire job in any which way direction. Especially now that the Apple Vision Pro and MetaQuest are out and popular.

The 360° view is great. Makes the viewer an active participant. Not limited to what’s in frame. Felt like I should tap the shoulder of the guy in the safety vest and ask him to move as I looked to either side of him to see. 😆 👍

I was just thinking the same! The control over the view gives us a whole different perspective on the action. The 360° is not suitable on every job, but I'm sure Josh will pick the ones that are!

I think the problem with 360° video is that all the pixels are streamed all the time, not just the ones that are being shown so a lot of bandwidth is wasted. By now it should be common to divide such content into multiple parts and dynamically stream only the parts that are being displayed at any given time.
How are you watching this? If your internet connection is fast enough, it shouldn't be a problem.
@@PepesTowingService "Gigabit" fiber connection (but it isn't really because ISPs are all liars.) It looks fine for me, but I suspect 360° video could gain more traction (I wish it would) if the parts we aren't looking at didn't have to be streamed. _BTW, thanks for taking us along on your adventures!_

@@PepesTowingServiceI like the 360 but I also love the body cam you normally run you don’t really gat the same thing with both perspectives one is your job the other is the big picture overall I get that this is less work than body cam but I wouldn’t discount either style
360 works fine on IPad, if you swipe to get the rest of the image. Except if you go full screen. Then it's locked to one view.
I watched this on my TV. Was able to look around with my Firestick remote. Very nice! It actually gives you the ability to view this video from a different perspective each
time you watch it.

It is amazing technology. It was fun to move around and see other angles. I can see why some people won't enjoy the experience, as your eyes have to continuously refocus. I'm not sure I would want every video filmed like this, but I'm sure there would be a lot of special jobs where this would be amazing! I admire your determination to bring us the best content. You and your Dad make a great team. I love his old school style. He has zero fear in pushing the trucks to do what they were built for. The fleet is gorgeous as well. All the best!
Intro was good Josh... Helps people understand what's going on & what to expect... as in my case I'll explain... At 1st I started watching the video (on my computer) and didn't move the mouse to see 360... as I was watching the video and saw you moving out of view of the camera, I was wondering what you were doing. I could hear your voice but didn't see you... Then I remembered what you said in the intro and said to myself... "Hey dummy move the mouse on the screen to see what Josh is doing" Once I did that, it was like HOLY SMOKES... OMG I can see 360...!!! LOL ... Josh you are like on the cutting-edge man with all your technology ...!!! This is soooo Awesome...!!!👍👍✌✌And to top it off... It was soo cool to see your Dad...!!! When I rotated around, I said... I'll also add that I can only go up to 1080p. My system won't handle anything faster than that. It just wants to go "Okay, I'm just gonna rest here for a while." Like for the rest of the video.
Everything that's not straight on is a little out of focus, but all that is a me, I'm-too-old-and-don't-want-to-spend-the-money on a newer system problem, not a you problem.

My initial YT quality setting was auto, and looked terrible. Switched to 1080 - much better.

Hello Josh, good to see you again! I must admit that I was one of the folks who hated the original 360 cams, both due to their disgusting fish eye lenses, but also because despite UA-cam saying the footage was in 4K, it was so blurry that it was obvious that it was 640P at best. Having said that, this new 360 camera technology is so much better. No longer is there a fish eye lens effect, and the movement is incredibly smooth as well. Also, the resolution feels more true to 4K then anything 360 I've seen before. Neat airport job you got to do too. Thanks Josh! Good to see daddyo too.

This 360 view video is fantastic. It gives the viewer the choice to look around at different things you are doing for an interesting perspective.

Josh nice job with you and pops. One thing I noticed was when you put the camera in the shade beside the truck all you could hear was the truck couldn’t hear you when you walked away. Just some feedback. Overall it was nice being able to control what you can see.
