@@AncientPresence hi I'm curious if you guys have read the account of the Spokane tribe of Indians and their history, one account tells the story of a ginormous Lake that took many weeks to cross and that there was a catastrophic event probably volcanic in nature( based on my interpretation of the reading) that caused it to drain in a matter of days which is how they came to settle at the Spokane Falls. Food for thought thanks for the video I very much appreciate it.

Grand Coulée translated in English means "Great Pour". Most of the Western United States was mapped and named by French explorers. These explorers often asked the Natives how this place is called and they made the translation in french. I wonder how much the Natives knew about this landscape at that time.
Huh, interesting. The Natives knew there was a great "pouring" or a great "flow" involved in the formations of the coulees. Thanks for that 😁

Lake Wallula and Banks Lake are two of my favorite places to fish. I always stop at Dry falls on my way to Banks Lake and just marvel at the power it took to create that area. Thank you for sharing.

I love this, I live smack dab in the middle of all of this in ML, Washington. I grew up swimming in these lakes as a child. The flood story here is very well known.

Carlson's perception of what may have happened is absolutely fascinating.
But wrong.
You are the first to give a synopsis of what happened once the floodwaters reached the Pacific. I'm interested in exploring the longreaching effects on ocean climate worldwide. Let's talk more about that. Did this start a chain reaction of flooding that brought sea levels up 400 feet in such a hurry that it was literally Bibilical in nature? Curiosity abounds. The overarching paradigm shifts points to a mass of anthropological discoveries awaiting at -400 feet sea level.

@@brianjacob8728 I haven't read the bible but im guessing the bible version is from the same source as all the other flood stories from around the world. Maybe the survivors didn't realize or know the cause (possibly asteroid or meteor(s)) especially within a few generations as the original survivors has passed away.... and then it got passed by storytelling for thousands of years and jumbled into religious stuff later on (when in doubt, say it was "gods will" back in the day). I'm guessing not everything in the bible is myth, but some is based on real events like catastrophic flooding ~11-12kya or whenever.
Carlson’s work sounds more likely than mainstream science say.
But I have to say that my grabbed my 🥜 when I saw that dude cliff diving. I remember one time when I was 16 my friends and I went cliff jumping. Usually I wore tight sports briefs underneath to protect my nuts. But that day I didn’t and I forgot when I took my first jump. My nuts felt like they went up to my stomach when they hit the water. Rest of the day I didn’t forget to hold em when I jumped haha 😂

The Biblical Flood is just one of many flood myths. But there never was a single global flood, rather as the Earth transitioned from a glacial period to an interglacial period, there was flooding globally as sea levels rose.

@@TheBelrick Flood stories abound, carried over in legend over thousands of years. The bible "borrowed" the story from "The Epic of Gilgamesh" and created Noah's flood. The "Sphinx" has water marks all along it's base which is strange in a desert.. The world was never flooded to where it Covered Mt. Everest, there is no evidence for that. All of the Northern Hemisphere was covered in ice. so of course when that melted, yeah floods BIG FLOODS. Carlson mentioned we found another (semi scablands) in I think Wisconsin??? I think, what if earth never got slammed by comets or asteroids 12,900 years ago? N

Why are science institutions dismissive of recent events, craters, extinctions but focus on millions of years ago. You’d think we’d work our way back chronologically to accurately record events.
See i would argue its because they Slap the label of millions of year on things that arent actually that old.
If you look at the recent discourse surrounding the Hiawatha Crater you can see why scientists may be skeptical of those who want to run with very recent, relatively speaking, datings prematurely.

I trust the guy with the beard over any UA-cam disclaimer. Been following Randall’s work for years. Love this stuff. I studied geology in college and it’s so fascinating. I believe what he says. No way man could have wiped out all the mammoths
Randall would’ve agreed with his comment. There was no industry at the time in history this covers. The most damage done by humans back then would’ve been the CO2 their own bodies produce. No mega factories and pollution as there is today.

I mean that could be true could not be but that is not what this video is talking about. This video is pointing out giant floods that pretty much every culture has hostory of. The floods were believed to be cause by glacier melt, which we have evidence was caused by meteor strikes. Rapid melting of the ice cause the climate to change, theres was more then likely some volcanic activity as result of the cosmic stikes
Academicians will claim this discovery for themselves long after Randall and Graham are gone.
A wonderful presentation of our history on this planet, we should not decide between tragedy or opportunity but instead, wonder at the reality.

The comet theory doesn't explain the rhythmites and other evidence that show the water came from glacial lake Missoula.

It discusses the rhythmites as evidence for a single massive flooding event, rather than many tens of floods. Fascinating stuff.

The article in question argues that the rhythmites cannot be a record of very large floods or drainage events as proposed by the correlations established with other sites in the Channeled Scablands. Basically, they are too low energy to be associated with drainage events. Subsequent work has substantiated this argument

It also shows believing in something as ridiculous as religion is rooted in FEAR..... scare them to worship you!!

What a beautiful and beautifully done 'travelogue'!! I lived out there for 8 years. LOVED the scenery, and never really knew what-all it was. We’ve never heard anyone pronounce it differently than koo-lee, so we were unaware that this isn’t the correct pronunciation. I said to the other guy that even Merriam-Webster pronounces it the same way we do on their audio button.

@@AncientPresence In WA state we all pronounce it KOOL-EE. Small difference is all. KOOL-EE vs you pronouncing it KOO-LEEEE. Kinda like how people who don't live in Boise say BOYZ-EE whereas if you live there you say BOY-SEE.

Amazing video, thankyou guys for your work, it's clear that a lot of work went into this and I appreciated every minute. Very accessible but still utterly informative. All the diagrams and maps were spot on and the drone footage to help put it in perspective was perfect. And of course gotta love the wise and great Randall Carlson, his knowledge is invaluable.

Investigate effective communication! If you are a student somewhere, rest assured that among the people that grade you and are responsible for your advancement are those who are keenly aware of this inadequacy of thought on your part. If you are speaking and I have to consult the hundreds of online dictionaries to confirm your pronunciation is not as all the others, then you risk me not getting what you are trying to tell me. I offer this for your edification. And further advise you to ignore my suggestion at your own career peril.

English is different in Australia than it is in England, and different in London than in Liverpool, and different in Minnesota than in Georgia. Who made you the word police?
Coulée is a French word anyways, I'm sure they pronounce it differently than how you learned to say it. In the verb form of the word, the accent is actually on the second half of the word, coulér.
Where did you learn to say it and have you heard it spoken in many different settings, from different people around the world? Maybe your rigid perspective is but one of many different perspectives 😉

I saw a short clip on Rogan with Mr. Carlson discussing this exact thing and really wanted to see more of the conversation. Good on both of you for calling me out because I was being pecker headed about your video and didn't have my facts straight. Now, tell me you don't understand how we got to this point? 2/3's of the videos out there promise you the world if you will simply click on their pathetic little offering.. When youtube first started, they used to have a dislike score and you could get a general feel for something that caught your interest.. but people complained because that meant they had to actually HAVE something people might want to watch.. I'll admit, I thought this was one of those and apologize for my comments and the short sightedness of my decision to post a comment! I found one of Joe Rogans videos where they do that "just getting together for a chat" thing , but what's really cool is Randal is free to speak his mind, and what a glorious mind he has! Years ago I had a job where I had to fly coast to coast, a lot. I always get the window seat. As I stared at my beautiful country I was fascinated with the terrain out west and couldn’t comprehend our annual rainfall carving the terrain over millennia; too deep, too wide, etc. As it turned out, my job took me to eastern Washington and I was struck by the sheer cliffs along the Washington-Idaho border and giant boulders sitting in seemingly flat fields. Then I discovered Randall. When he overlaid Niagara Falls over the cliffs I was viewing and explained about the boulders and the ripples on the ground I couldn’t see except by aerial viewing, I was amazed and suddenly everything made sense. The evidence was right there. Nowadays, I think it’ll take another event like that to knock us back into reality with how our society is collapsing around us.

I've visited a few of the places mentioned. They were interesting but at the time (20+ years ago), I had no clue about the floods from 11, 000 years ago and how that event: tied together nearly everything I saw while exploring Washington state and Oregon. Makes me want to visit the area again.

@@AncientPresence you are correct. That was myself and Kyle (not Allen). We had found a spot to scramble up the cliff and both agreed it was worth the effort. I'm the pink tank top. That was pretty epic but seeing the landscape from the drone point of view was amazing. I love the thorough explanation in this video of where the water came from, how it was channeled, where it went and ended up in the ocean. The animation was perfect. Such a great video to introduce others to this information. The exciting thing is, there is WAY more to explore on this planet. Washington State is literally just a fraction of all there is to see.
Totally. We hope to see more of the epic flood evidence in Montana and other places some day. Thanks for the positive feedback on the video! We always wanted to see an “all in one” video explanation of the flood pathways, since it took us years to finally wrap our minds around the totality of this event and it’s hard to envision the big picture of what happened. Now it’s there as a full summary in one video, a great introduction to people who want to know more about this topic. Those drone shots sure help give you some perspective of how gigantic this flood was 🤯

I meant to join Randall on the field trip to the Scablands, in Sept. but I had a scheduling conflict. I promised some young relatives to lead a climb of Mt. Rainier. I've always enjoyed his talks on different subjects.

Well done. A first rate summary of the ice age floods and the landscapes that they created. Randall's accounts are always perfectly reasoned and compelling. I think the Carolina Bays were probably caused by the same cometary impact event that Randall proposes. A fascinating subject. One that testifies to the awesome power and mystery of nature.
There’s a great video where a guy triangulates the trajectories using mud and you can see where they came from and how far they flew. Probably ice chunks. I’m from eastern North Carolina and never knew about them growing up.
@@Malama_Ki Hi John. I can understand why! I once used street view on Google Earth to see what they looked like on the ground. All I could see was trees and scrub! I think they only became truly visible with the advent of aerial photography. Yet they estimate there are about 500 thousand bay sites, along the Eastern seaboard of the US and always oriented towards the Northwest, give or take. Amazing - yet few have heard about them. Rgds from West Sussex.
