- In the landscape of technology in 2023, open-source contributions have become more important than ever before. As a developer, engaging in open-source projects and contributing to the open-source community can bring numerous benefits to your professional growth and the broader software ecosystem.
Open-source contributions provide you with an opportunity to enhance your skills and expand your knowledge base. By collaborating with other developers on open-source projects, you can gain exposure to diverse programming techniques, architectures, and tools. This exposure not only sharpens your problem-solving abilities but also broadens your understanding of industry best practices.
Moreover, contributing to open-source projects allows you to build a strong portfolio of work. In today's competitive job market, employers value practical experience and evidence of real-world contributions. Open source contributions demonstrate your ability to work in a team, write clean and maintainable code, and deliver results in a collaborative environment. This can significantly enhance your employability and open doors to exciting career opportunities.
Open-source contributions also enable you to connect with like-minded developers. The open-source community is a vibrant ecosystem of passionate individuals who actively share their knowledge and support one another. Engaging with this community can help you establish valuable professional connections, learn from experts, and gain mentorship from experienced developers. These relationships can prove invaluable in your career growth and provide you with ongoing support and learning opportunities.
Additionally, contributing to open-source projects enables you to make a positive impact on the software industry as a whole. By contributing your expertise to open-source projects, you are helping to democratize technology, empower others, and advance the collective capabilities of the developer community.

"Highlight" ## The video discusses the importance of open source contributions for software developers, particularly for those aiming to work remotely in companies with non-hierarchical structures. Python and JavaScript are recommended as beginner-friendly languages, and GSOC is a good way to showcase skills and learn how big companies maintain their code bases. Luck may play a role in getting hired through open source contributions, but consistent effort and interest in the field can lead to success.
Abhi bol raha hai forget dsa agle podcast me fir se kisi faang wale ko layega 😂
Arre bhai 🤣
Bhai to isko unsubscribe kar le mast raho
Or kya bhai inka konsa koi stand hota hai
Ithna b sach nhi batana tha😂
Last one "why the fu*k you're calling me Bhaiya Dude ?" 😂😂🤣 I loved that 😂🤣
I'm a developer from zambia/Africa. it would be great if you used more english.. you have an international audience. But the content is great.. thank you.
Harkirat and Kunal kushwaha just hits different.
Where? On ur butt cheeks
It's all about the pay.
kyu bhai,,,,maara kya unhone tujhe.......jk
Naya drug aaya h kya market m 🤪☝️
With or without belt ?
There is another program name C4GT run for DPGs(Digital Public Goods) by the Indian Government which is the same as GSOC .
Plz Harkirat don’t collab with these uneducated fake influencers
I am at first today to like your video , you have taught me so much 🎉
can you share some of your learning , actually I am new to his videos .
Great video! I really enjoyed the insights you shared. I have a question to ask, is it okay to start learning Android Development along with DSA?
Respected one , may you please suggest 3 things for the growth of an adult one for each mental , physical and financial growth
Thumbnail actually misleading. You should work on that.
very informative and great insights. My question to Harkirat is please can you guide the people who are working professionals and how can they learn coding and contribute to Open source so as to switch they job from non tech to technical remote companies.
Everyone talks about GSOC and opportunities for students but just like me there working professionals who want to enter tech world and given the perks in remote jobs would want them and yes obviously are ready to work and learn for it.
please your insights are needed and would be very helpful for people like us.
Harkirat and Ishan both of you are doing great work. Kudos to y'all
So you have got no answer.....Right??? The reality is very tough. For the change from Non tech to tech you have to start with 2-3 languages and do important projects. 5 projects that are relevant in the market and projects that will give you a complete understanding of what actually happens in the day to day jobs of a developer or a devops or a cloud pros. Learn devops and cloud too to increase your reach.
Wrong thumbnail btw... He didn't say that way lol
THIS VIDEO IS TOO SHORT WE NEED A PRETTY EXPLANATIVE AND LONG VIDEO!!!
Happy Guru Purnima Ishan bhai ❤
Ishan, the background music is beautiful but disturbing even if the volume is low. If possible kindly don't put any bgm for such videos where we have to focus on what he is saying. Harkirat gave some useful tips, great video. Thanks.
Bro do an video on how to earn money by playing Facebook ads and Instagram ads
Open the source for learning open source
Keep bringing more videos
Very helpful video for all.
I guess it is same as stackoverflow.
Ishan bhai meri help kariye please mujhe part time work chahiye
I started mern stack learning so after completing mern stack what are good projects for freshers in both Gsoc and other open source codes
you sure that A.I. wont replace your role as a fresher in the upcoming months?
@@RiskyFeatsare you from non - it background?
@@RiskyFeats buddy A.I is not that much complex problem solver and creative
Ya if u wanna ask me literally that A.I would take up my job so yes it can but in this context I wanna say that then no profession is job safe because A.I is used in robots which are used in industries and also in restaurants so if u look it from top to bottom so ya A.I has potential to take every job even job role of A.I developer because A.I is of three type we generally use generic A.I which is for text to image or text to video but this means that A.I can think so u can understand that A.I has own brain and it can replace u also.
That's my opinion thnx for reading. But I asked for projects 😅 buddy.
@@parampal664 Yes you're right but I think A.I works on patterns so it can't replace those fields which don't have a proper pattern like cybersecurity
@@vinayakhegde1044 Nah man, full programming background
Just a small query -contributions gets mixed up along with personal repo commits, is there a way where we can just list out ONLY the contributions made to other repos on our profile in case someone visits it will be easy for them to see what repos has this person contributed to🤔 ??????
Great one
This Is my first Comment i am learning full stack🎉🎉
