Flashdance’s movie soundtrack was awesome! I can remember learning the dance from the movie with my best friend in 6th grade and performing it for our music class. Good times!

Michael Sambello was Stevie Wonder's guitar player and sometimes cowriter for years. He's a monster. If you listen to his vocal line closely, you can't help but hear Stevie's influence on his vocal performance.

Wish you guys would react to Glenn Frey's song and mini movie video, Smugglers Blues. It was a solo effort from Glenn who was mostly with the Eagles. Its a Miami Vice style story..awesome. Brad will love the lyrics and the story.
That's a great song. Great video too. Frey wrote it with one of the guys who wrote or co-wrote a couple of very early Eagles hits. Great story song type lyrics.
The Movie "Flashdance" which this song is from, was filmed in Pittsburgh. The main character was a steelworker in a steel mill who wanted to go to school and study dance, but couldn't afford it. In the meantime, during off hours from the mill, she danced in nightclubs to keep her edge.

Micheal Sembello is a producer/singer still to this day he is definitely a one hit wonder fun fact this song was written first for a horror movie but the movie never got made so it got repurposed for the manic dance scene in the Flash Dance film

Great song, but would probably be more appreciated if seen with the video or movie.

Huge hit from the Flashdance soundtrack.
A local connection for me. Michael Sembello is from the suburbs of Philadelphia and used to teach guitar at a local music shop in my hometown outside of Philadelphia. I also took lessons at this shop myself, but long after he worked there. Stevie Wonder had tryouts for musicians in Philadelphia and Sembello tried out and got the gig launching his professional career in earnest. Later he would compose this song for Flashdance and I believe he won a Grammy for it.

A few years ago, i sampled those intro drums and had a great Synthwave track laid out. I listened to it upon finish & deleted it. It was great, but it felt like sacrilege. Those drums are not to be touched by mere mortals. The Neon Gods will curse those that sore too high & reach for Greatness that lowly serfs were never meant to hold. We were meant to dance to the beat, not foolishly steal from the Gods.

The video was classic and nice looking actress on it. Should see it some day. This was from the movie Flashdance. Was huge. Also, this was your typical '80s pop music with some electrofunk, synthesizers. Common music back then from '80s into the early '90s. Guitar 🎸 and saxophone 🎷solos were very common in pop songs and other type music also had these guitar and saxophone solos (R&B, funk, etc) during those years. Very common and not too surprising.

This is a 2000s band that Lex will absolutely love They do originals too, but they're a fun pop band that's basically paying homage to the 80s.
They're a great band, but sadly they will never be played on radio because they do not fit the bland modern corporate sound of today's pop music.
