Thank your for this splendid video I'll share it with my mother ,her first glider lesson were with the SG 38 I'm sure she will see your video with pleasure. Thank you again.
Looks like a dream I had as a kid. Off a hill instead of the tow launch. From that hill we watched the real gliders Dance with the wind. Keep living the dream!
I wonder if two engines and props could be put on it, on a horizontal bar behind the seat sticking out each engine to the right and left side... like on the early Kolb Flyer, or LazAir, and with a single wheel below on the skid, if that would be enough power to get it air born with a nice climb rate.
I know its not fitting with the original layout of the aircraft, but cant help but think that if you made up a plexi glass fairing that shielded the body and instruments, the performance would go up by quite a bit !!
@@damienr1076 It's still a very dangerous situation when that happens. It happens so rarely that no pilot will expect it/have trained for it. You also have 1200+ft of steel cable attached to the nose dragging on the floor which completely changes the balance of the glider, pulling it down regardless of trim. It will also create a ridiculous amount of sink.
In the 1930s, if the pupil's first flight was solo, and if he had never been up with an instructor, then how could they be sure he wouldn't stall or spin? I know the very low wing loading must be part of the answer, but even so..?
Hey, thanks for the question. Das far as I know they trained on small hills starting with bungee ropes. So the flights have been quite short. More hopping than flying. I also have a video on my channel showing the bungee launch. Probably more training by doing, and repairing the gliders if the landing wasn't that smoothly.
Anybody ever actually thermal one of these things? All I ever see is pattern tows. Looks a lot heavier than say, a Goat. I would be tempted to fit a small nose fairing around the rudder pedals.
You must be very talented...during one flight you have your shoes on and off 2:31 and 2:40. Tell me, isn't it cool enough for you to enjoy flying that you need to make selfie? Just asking...for me flying is so attractive that I do not bother of making selfies...various people various attitude...
That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen, great video of this unique aircraft!

The selfie stick footage was a trip!
Super Aufnahmen. Macht Spaß, diese anzuschauen.

Awesome video, how cool is that!
That looks like a lot of Fun.
AMAZIIIIIIIIING... Wish I could be as lucky and talented as you.
dude, what an envy! Awesome, congrats.
One of the best videos in youtube
Nitesh Gowda thanks :) I also have a new version of a flight with that glider.
Lars Ki ,great I want To see
Nitesh Gowda Here we go: ua-cam.com/video/h5vtPkB1h3s/v-deo.html
Lars Ki ,this is crazy dude
Lars Ki ,even I wish to fly one❤️❤️❤️
ziemlich geil gelungen das Video!!!
Definitely would love to try it.

This type of aircraft is so cool
So it DOES have a yaw string. Wonderful :D
Wow that looks like so much fun, would love to have a go. I would be very tempted to get an electric motor so you could stay up longer.
So geil! Gibt's noch mehr von denen? Kann man das einfach lernen? Ich möchte auch!!!
that is friggin awesome!

My grand father learned flying on those in the 1940s. Fortunately the war ended in good time.
Looks like a joy to fly... look on the web for the "Bug" and the "Goat" ultralight gliders for something you can build yourself and fly.
Incredible! :D Enjoyed watching! :)
Love this so much, my goal is to fly one someday :P
That looks like so much fun! Where can I buy one?
Im curious. Did they just guess right on the airfoil in 1938? pew NACA in US. Dunno for Germany.
Has the airfoil changed since 1938?
great video :-) !
Cool craft man. Ever did thermalling on it?
Great video! So awesome. Great music too. Your link does not take me to the song tho. Any thoughts?
Really nice glider i even think it beautiful
Hi, does anyone have plans on how to build this glider? I want to build it
0:47 there is a security in case of fail of the system ?
In this Case there is a mechanism to cut the rope on the winch.
Pilot of Adventures Thank you for the answer 👍

Hee hee, that's why I love paragliding!
Imagine having on of those
Echt geil!!!
Whats dragging it up there?
Gratuliere, Respekt! ;-)
would fly it in a heartbeat
one day.. i will flight one of those.. i promise!
czaaaad!!!!...it means f...g awesome!!!
Maybe if it has a longer wingspan could it float longer?
Jaja die Schwabenpower halt nice Junge !!

@@PilotofAdventures Thanks for the reply...can anyone else tell me any more?
énorme trop beau
What's that aircraft called? Is there any schematics for it?
Love the video!
PawkChawp It is an Schulgleiter "SG38"

So should be a car in front dragging this aircraft?
what is this song ? great video btw!
It is Niklas Ibach - Lill

special thanks to the Wright bros and gopro

Does a car pull it for the launch?
Nope, that was just a automatic winch
it would be a device at the end of the strip that is simply an over sized winch. there are no vehicles employed.
That is about as bird-like as you can get.
ŁADNIE.
Song name?
i like it
i would love to do this
Ich will mitfliegen
Hach!
That gopro intro was really unecessary.
