    I love your finds and the location is beautiful. However, I disagree with the fact that there were times you damaged boulders or cliff faces to remove some of what you took with you. It looked as though there were plenty of loose items available for the taking without needing to cause damage. Collectors that cause damage are one of the reason s there are fewer places to collect than there used to be and that so many states have changed their laws about collecting.

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  2 роки тому +9

      Hi there and thanks for the feedback. I agree with you on the cliff face, however in this case if you look closer we are actually removing the geodes from a clay layer within the basalt which is why were are able to pull them out in tact like we did. We don't chisel rock to get rock. Boulders on the beach are fair game along the Bay of Fundy. Our tides here are vicious and destroy most loose rocks laying on the beach. The tide also defaces the cliffs every year providing rock falls and new areas to collect. Even in situ seam agates we collect are ones that are loose and we can pull out of the face with our hands. 95% of our collecting here on this channel is from loose finds on the beach or in the rivers. Thanks for watching!

In fact so much particles of gold I'm thinking about buying a machine to take out there something small that we can carry.

      We found these at Ross Creek beach. Just head out onto the beach and go right.

      The first thing I would do is locate a local rock club in your area. They would have all the local information you are seeking. There are undoubtedly rouckhounding Facebook groups for your area, or at least Michigan, that you can join and interact with the people there. You will be surprised at the amount of people looking for the same things you are on social media. Good Luck!!

      We tumble them, cut and polish them and usually give them away.

    Do you have any links or websites to recommend on how to identify agates, geodes, quartz, etc.
    I really want to try finding some but i don't know how.

      I would recommend getting some of your local literature first. Local geology etc. Local rock groups are great resources. Local Facebook rock groups too.

    5:33 not evrything is a amethyst

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  2 роки тому

      I never fully committed to amethyst on that one. But 9 times out of ten if you find a purple mineral in volcanics, it's amethyst. The other 1 could be Apophyllite.

      @@RockhoundingLife it can be fluorite

    • @RockhoundingLife
      @RockhoundingLife  2 роки тому

      @@Crumbcat4life I've never found, or heard of anyone finding, purple fluorite amoung the basalt along the Bay of Fundy. Fluorite is more predominantly associated with sedimentary rocks, in particular carbonates (limestone, dolostone etc.)
