The cool thing about Lost Odyssey was that it was given out for free as a celebration of hitting a milestone of compatible 360 titles on Xbox One but for obvious reasons could be played on the original console too. Can't imagine how much scalpers are charging for the physical copy nowadays.
They also have Crackdown 1 and 2 for free on Xbox One/ Series as well which is nice, especially since some people might have memories from the first one due to it being the game to play the Halo 3 beta back in the day. Also Too Human is free in the store too, which is surprising that they even bothered with it due to the big legal lawsuit with Silicon Knights and Epic Games. Also another crazy fun fact is that they tried to make the Burger King games like Sneak King and PocketBike Racer backwards compatible but could not due to the way the discs for the games were formatted apparently. The discs had a OG Xbox version and the 360 version on the same disc.
Oh My God, SomeOrdinaryGamers, The first two Xbox 360 layouts are nostalgic as heck...Even the old Playstation 3 Layout and the old Wii Menu versions back in the mid to late 2000s are purely nostalgic...Yeah sure it's one thing to get roms/isos for the console, but it's a whole different thing when you're trying to get the bios to work on the emulator.
I'm surprised there wasn't much kick back if any at all for the store closing down on 360 to revert the changes like what happened on PS3, Vita etc. Luckily we still have them.
I'm really glad for this updated video on Xenia. It has come a long way since Muta last covered it, to a point where I feel comfortable recommending it to people (provided they're somewhat tech-savvy). Fun Fact: The netplay fork for Xenia has improved so much that you can play Gears 1 (maybe 2 & 3 also? Haven't tried them) multiplayer flawlessly. So it's only a matter of people being aware of it and actually playing.
@@marguya4643 Generations stages are garbage and too platform heavy. Unleashed stages way funner and more exhilarating. They are more built for the boost mechanic

Too lazy. In my opinion, this wouldn't even be difficult. So instead of a disc-less variant of modern consoles, we could have a variant with hardware based backwards compatibility, like the launch PS3. Basically, they could include at least a few of the original chips in the console so that when you boot an old game, your "Xbox Series" it can go into original Xbox mode. Collectors worldwide would buy these in a heartbeat even if they were more expensive. They could manufacture less of these to prevent revenue losses.

With netflix's greed i dont think we will ever see that again. The ps2, xbox, xbox 360, and ps3 years were the golden age of gaming imo.
Might have to look into this, have been meaning to revisit a bunch of old Xbox 360 games for a while now, primarily Lost Odyssey as seen in this video, but also a bunch of other games such as Blue Dragon and Enchanted Arms (for some old school FromSoftware gaming).
I have been running Xenia in my Nobara Linux and it runs amazing, and it keeps getting better! Being able to get DLC from the Archive is a massive W as well!
Seeing Muta giggling and getting giddy by playing Xbox 360 games reminds me of the good ol' days. Late nights playing with friends or single player games when I should've been in bed on a school night. I'd wake some mornings during the summer or weekends with Xbox 360 still going, warming up my room. I think I've owned 3 OG White Xbox 360s, two of them had the "red ring of death" and I got them serviced by Microsoft only to have issue return. My last Xbox 360, which I still proudly own to this day, is the limited edition Halo Reach edition. I dusted it off and brought it of the box just to boot it up and buy some games one last time before the market place closed. I remember going to the malls and visiting the local Game Stop to window shop or pick up a rated "M for Mature" game only to get denied by the person behind the counter. However, the cool sales person would look the other way and sell the games to me. I remember late night "Pre-order parties and the Halo 3 Launch night". Also met my first gf playing xbox 360 games doing split screen gaming on a variety of games. Only wish we knew we were in the good times before we we'd left. The Xbox 360 will forever be my favorite gaming console, thanks for making this video Muta!
Not GameStop, which for some reason still sells Wii games, but you can still sell them 360 games (why would you though?) because that generation is considered retro now which is crazy to think about
I'll definitely have to try to figure out the patches because I'm specifically trying to run Sonic Unleashed and can't get out of Apotos without some kind of graphics crash
If you’re using Xenia Canary, I’d recommend setting the graphics to Vulkan There’s two options for Vulkan, where setting the renderer to “FBO” favors more performance, but does mess up some of the textures, like the Werehog fur while setting it to “FSI” fixes the broken textures more, but sacrifices performance.
I managed to get some games before the shutdown. The ones I already got was Call of Duty Classic and dlc for Batman: Arkham Origins. During the weeks of it, I got dlc content for Batman: Arkham City and Sonic '06 (my brother asked me to get it along with the $5 game). The games I got were: Alone in the Dark, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate- Deluxe Edition, Bionic Commando, Bionic Commando: Rearned, Burnout: Crash, Darkstalkers Resurrection, Gun, Metro 2033, Metro: Last Light, Mortal Kombat Kollection Arcade, Red Faction: Guerrilla (along with the prequel dlc), Remember Me, Resident Evil 4, Street Fighter II' HF, Street Fighter III: Third Strike Online Edition, Street Fighter X Tekken, and The Chronicles of Reddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Pretty much most of the games I got because of the sale and were very cheap and better off paying them like this instead of paying for an expensive physical copy from Amazon/eBay.
Lost Odyssey and the Gears franchise are still playable on the modern Xboxes through that backwards compatibility program, and they are also still purchaseable (or use a disc on the boxes that have the drive). Since the backwards compatible games are still using the X360's Xbox Live, so I think most of those features are going to stick around for the OG hardware as long as they still sell those BC games.

To be honest, I was playing games on Xenia on my i7-2600k and GTX970. Had quite fun with it. If I'm remembering well, it ran much better than rcps3.
I tried to download it and it said my computer was too weak
@@garfieldfan925 what are your specs?
Already started emulating Xbox 360 games, been having fun playing Deadpool, next up I got some of the 360 Sonic games and Spider-Man Edge of Time. And after that I got no plan to stop from there.
Can't you play all these on PC? Deadpool is on steam.
@@bluetooth2677 No actually, the Sonic xbox 360 games have never been on Steam. And Deadpool has been delisted for years now.
@@PumpkinNitepersonally, I find emulating versions which are released on PC somewhat redundant.
@@PumpkinNite I'm guessing you're downloading the 360 ROM online. Why not download the PC version of Deadpool, instead of emulating the game which is probably buggy?
The 360 emulator is pretty crap compared to others.
@@bluetooth2677 Theres a pc version you say?
Muta I love you I've been watching since ur lost sliver play throughs. Still enjoying watching your videos. I hope you know you impacted my life Ina. Good way.
Didn’t expect to see you playing some Sly 2. Mad respects, Muta
Seeing this man run Sonic Unleashed on Xenia makes me cry cause when i run it it stutters a lot (i have a 3060 i7-12th gen). I've been trying to improve the performance but I've just accepted that i need to wait to upgrade my rig
check your compatibility & patch settings
you do not need to upgrade, i run the game just fine with the 60fps mod on my 2060 i7 10th gen, you should try changing the settings.
@@shootingwish good idea I'll try giving it another shot
I was able to play that game on a i7-2600k and GTX970. So, it sounds like a setting issue.
I just ignore mainline and use canary with patches.
@@Wesmoen yeah I'm starting to think it's a setting issue I'm gonna try graphics maxing it again
That menu screen was actually kinda sad to screen. I grew up with those bigass ads that would sit in the middle of every menu
Just played Peggle 2 on Xenia last night, runs soo well
Now I don't feel too bad about missing out on stuff from the Marketplace.
Not gone lie Muta, I miss that little jingle that used to play after you said your closing statements. Bring that back!
Cannot wait for Crackdown 1 to be playable in Xenia.
i may not have had an xbox 360, i was heavily missing out but now i crave one
the funny thing is the store still works on rgh if you have a custom dashboard manifest
I'm surprised there wasn't much kick back if any at all for the store closing down on 360 to revert the changes like what happened on PS3, Vita etc. Luckily we still have them.
seeing lost odyssey made my heart happy
I'm really glad for this updated video on Xenia. It has come a long way since Muta last covered it, to a point where I feel comfortable recommending it to people (provided they're somewhat tech-savvy).
Fun Fact: The netplay fork for Xenia has improved so much that you can play Gears 1 (maybe 2 & 3 also? Haven't tried them) multiplayer flawlessly. So it's only a matter of people being aware of it and actually playing.
sonic goatleashed thumbnail let’s fucking go!!!!

Sonic unleashed 360/ps3 still has the best boost stages in the entire franchise.
Sonic Generations victim
wii version better
@@marguya4643 Generations stages are garbage and too platform heavy. Unleashed stages way funner and more exhilarating. They are more built for the boost mechanic
@@SonGokuuuuuuu what?
12:46 I have good memories of playing gears with the boys every Friday night for years during 360 days.
If emulation is a thing that works, why don't any of the gaming companies just port the whole library of their old consoles to PC?
the issue is they dont want to put in the effort of making a proper emulator and having support for it, its more then possible for them to do but its not direct profit so they dont want to
Because a native pc port is much better than emulation
Microsoft should do that especially since XBOX was created by Microsoft
Emulators are pretty buggy, thats why
Aleeady ahead of you. Been doing it for Viva Pinata 1 and 2 for years
RIP XBOX 360, all those memories, 2005-2024
this is actually my actual favourite actual video you've actually ever made
Recently got my new PC. Been playing a bunch of childhood classics as well as a few I missed out on. The early '00s are still goated.
What a coincidence. I had been struggling for literal months to get Sonic Unleashed working on rpcs3 and Muta just straight up shows me how to do it for xenia. TwT
ahahahha this has to be like the ultimate thumbnail streak - looking real sassy on this one
The zoom on the hacked Xbox on the chair had me dead 😂
with sonic unleashed(as well as sonic generations) in my experience in RPCS3, it runs great, provided it dosent crash, which happens pretty often for me, i assume its my cpu, since its easily the weakest link in my PC(second to ram), which sucks since i cant upgrade without getting a new motherboard since i have the best one for my motherboard
3:56 is a nostalgic muta face frame
1:23 definitely not trying to dodge a lawsuit
Or he genuinely doesn't support it
@@EliRetroVHS642 no, he’s just trying to dodge a lawsuit he clearly pirates games, nobody goes out of their way to backup their physical game copies unless it’s to upload it online for pirates.
@@bizzy1960 Not necessarily you forget disc dumping
@@bizzy1960 Not everyone pirates when using emulation there's thise that use disc dumping which is how your suppose to do it. You can't just assume everyone who uses emulation pirates it's not a pirating tool despite people using it for that
One of the bug things i miss the most about the old school 360 days is the netflix watch parties. Being sble to watch movies and shit with your buddies online was amazing. With netflix's greed i dont think we will ever see that again. The ps2, xbox, xbox 360, and ps3 years were the golden age of gaming imo.
If SEGA/Sonic Team had a port or remake of Unleashed for PC I buy it in a instant
Might have to look into this, have been meaning to revisit a bunch of old Xbox 360 games for a while now, primarily Lost Odyssey as seen in this video, but also a bunch of other games such as Blue Dragon and Enchanted Arms (for some old school FromSoftware gaming).
Xbox 360 has fallen
Billions must emulate
Still can play 360 games on the newest xbox and xbox one
was waiting for muta to talk about lost odysessy again

This comment just brought me back to my childhood, holy.
I have been running Xenia in my Nobara Linux and it runs amazing, and it keeps getting better! Being able to get DLC from the Archive is a massive W as well!
Meanwhile in a underdeveloped county: a ps3 that hasn't been dusted in a decade running like a champ
WTF does that have to do with anything? Did you even watch the video?
"oh boy, my fav linux bro put up a vid about 360 emulation!"
Muta: "We're on windows today bois!"
😢
Way ahead of you on that one, gonna try Xenia on my Steam Deck later today
Any thoughts on Mr Beast being exposed as a fraud?
Can’t he need to wait a bit more for any other evidence to see if there is anything else for the saga
A total lack of surprise
Bro, just found that out, now he's gonna share it to everyone like he's the only one he knows.
Ah yes, one guy on Twitter is an undeniable proof, quick! Cancel mr beast before people debunk it!

Talk about a blast from the past with that OG 360 menu making me feel so old hahahhaha
Don’t used game stores still sell Xbox 360 games?
Yes retro game stores
No, they put them all into a burnpit by Microsoft’s orders
@@joshdominguez341
I also have an arcade fighting controller for the 360 (made by a company called HORI) if you know those guys!
Not GameStop, which for some reason still sells Wii games, but you can still sell them 360 games (why would you though?) because that generation is considered retro now which is crazy to think about
@@LoSubstance
I even still have my 360 arcade stick made by HORI!

Literally found this video on the 5 minute mark
5 min mark too, also the 360 in the background just chillin
I'll definitely have to try to figure out the patches because I'm specifically trying to run Sonic Unleashed and can't get out of Apotos without some kind of graphics crash
If you’re using Xenia Canary, I’d recommend setting the graphics to Vulkan
There’s two options for Vulkan, where setting the renderer to “FBO” favors more performance, but does mess up some of the textures, like the Werehog fur while setting it to “FSI” fixes the broken textures more, but sacrifices performance.
I played thru the entire campaign of gears of war 2 on Xenia w steamdeck. 60-70fps with periodic flickering. So much fun
Very good tutorial bro.
Now you should play call of Duty 3 (2006) on xenia & I am sure you will like that😁
Was just playing sonic unleashed yesterday on xenia ❤. RIP xbox 360 store 😢.
