I have been 100% hooked on the 8 inch line thru for a couple years now and I have can't tell you how many fish I've caught. I use the rainbow trout lure and I get hammered on it every time I use it. I've bought 6 of them so far and caught so many fish on it that the weight in the head has pulled completely out of the body. And it is one sturdy lure. I get about 300 to 400 fish out of one before it is ruined. Savage gear made one amazing bait. I'm in new york and I fish it fast in cold water. I mean I'll wake it right on top of the water and I've had a dozen bass at once try to eat it right at the boat. My biggest bass so far on it tipped the scale at 8.39 lbs. Even when the water is in the low 40s I will swim it fast. Cold water does not slow a bass down when they want to eat.
Love the video I have been doing the same thing but with a 8” Magdraft and Storm Arashi swimmer not the glide. I have the power handle and felt weird at first but like it now and my 300 tranx will launch that shit. Im glad you only brought one rod cause even if you don’t catch one the suspense is awesome, like waiting for jaws to smash it. I would definitely go back there. I used to fish a trout stocked pond back in Colorado with a trout swimbait and it can get stupid ! Thanks man
Nice DD! I need to do that! I'll be getting my trout bait swim bait out and give it a try! Swimbait rod will be here tomorrow! Trying the daiwa tatula 300 w a okuma xxh 5 to 14 oz. 7 ft 11.
Made better than the hud . Swims better. Burns better. Have gotten do many huds that gave one hide or other thicker snd it swims weird. Still slayed fish eith them
You have to leave the jerkbaits, and drop shots at home. It's about commitment. I live by Mt Monadnock and Throw Swimbaits around 90% of the time. Also, I have the Dobyns 795, and 806, and think they're a little soft for big jig hooked Swimbaits. I've caught a few big fish on 8 inch Hudds, Real Preys, and Burritos around the Lake Monomaniac area. I like throwing big wakebaits better though, especially after dark.
Tried my savage gear.got savagely skunked ! But the tatula 300xsl works nicely on my swimbait rod. Still going for that big swimbait hookup! Get em DirtyD!
Hey Dersch, really enjoy your videos. I work with a local bait maker and I wanted to know if you would like me to send you a true winter classic that catches fish all year and is a tried and true winter bait. Comment back and we'll figure out the logistics if you are interested.
Dude you make some sweet content, should look up a lanciotti psycho gill and try to get one to do a video on. Hard to come by but they get put up on his fb page or swimbait underground page on FB
With big soft swim baits you really want to let them eat it for a few seconds before laying the hammer down on them. Soft baits are incredibly realistic and fish will hold on to them for a while.

Have you ever fished in Dublin Lake? Supposed to be freaky deep! Went to school in Dublin. Beautiful state!
Just picked up the 6" fast sinking and both the slow 6" and 8". Keep on throwing and sooner or later a DD will hit! Tight lines!

Hardly any youtubers do any content on the big swimbaits I think you could grow your channel huge throwing some of those baits
Nice boat, I have a BassHunter BabyBass it is 8 foot 2 man and that’s all I need
65 lb braid is nuts, I would’ve had like 20 lb on
Normal for swimbait. You’ll lose some on 20 just casting.
@@Labradorslobber idk man, I’ve seen some real big 30+ pound lake trout and musky caught on 20 lb test no problem
Yep throwing those big baits on braid you'll snap the lure off as you cast. Done it before. I like fluro for swimbaiting. 20lb test
@@nicknormando4220I actually like mono over braid or flouro because it stretches so you don’t snap off big giant (expensive) lures as much

I agree. I have the 806 and it barely lobs 5 Oz baits and it's rated for 8.

Wrong… Big fish will spit out that bait just as fast as they suck it in… You want to set the hook almost immediately.
@@ericlin4016 😂😂😂
He's right, maybe you'll lose some smaller fish by swinging right away but a giant or fish of a lifetime will just inhale it
When I bought a 6 inch version, to me it smelled like pasta noodles
