They should have put G.I and reflections, considering the art style that would be way more noticeable.
Honestly. The game lacks any gi or good ao. Using it for this would have been way better
Definitely, unfortunately this ray tracing was built in by amd, so they couldn't add much, since their gpus can't handle that much
Eventually we want all the RT.
@@Tangent_Studios Actually, they could do that with an AMD card nowadays. And could just easily be a toggle to enable and disable these different feature like any software, and it's not the first time we got all of them on AMD hardware. They just decided to go with shadows.
@@Deliveredmean42 this a good enough option to have as you can turn this on and still get above 100 fps (at least on my 3080) Multiplayer doesn't really need fancier graphics that risk hurting overall performance, although I wouldn't mind full RT for the campaign (for if we ever get dlc for that).
Now if we could get an update for textures and particle effects. I always felt like the lighting on the player models is where the game lacked at
It felt like way back in CE the bullets and frags just lit the set up
I wish they implemented ray traced reflections too, then it'd really look beautiful with all it's forerunner environments.
RT shadows must be on Series X as well as PC. We really need graphics improvements on campaign like RAIN and features like adding RT shadows on campaign and FSR 2.0/DLSS.
FSR and DLSS arent really worthwhile unless they expand ray tracing to include all light sources and do reflections and/or lighting as well. the performance hit just isnt big enough to bother using an upscaler with only RT sun shadows
Is it the same on s?
the problem of xbox is , these rt shadows are much more vram demanding then anything else in RT, but its also not as big visual hit as reflections or heavy RT ambient oclusions
@@LordButtsauce the RT in this game isnt even worth to be honest its doesnt little to no change un less ypu see comparissons or you see your shadow
That will never happen to this toystory ass looking game
it actually does look better though. The RTX showcase from a while back made me laugh, but i’m happy the performance loss isnt that bad
Yeah, agreed. The initial showcase was quite bad.
Its actualy the only game which now runs the same, maybe better with ray tracing on then before driver update without ray tracing... thats how badly was halo optimized for 7900xtx its kinda hilarious situation. Its kinda light RT implementation, but better some visual quality improvemenst then non , especialy combat looks much better now ambient oclusion itself not so much :).
@@Kratochvil1989 If they add RT reflections i’m ready to see that FPS take a massive hit
@@ayybdon that realy depends on game and intensity ray tracing performance disparacy is just wild , sometimes it runs sometimes it doesnt. But yes for Nvidia raytracing the most demanding are maxxed out reflections and for Lumen from Epic its maxxed out ambient oclusion effect . instead of reflections in my case.Anyway even massive hit would be probably still reasonable frame rate for single player, game runs well over 100fps with RT on in outdoors scenes(most demanding areas).
I mean; at least what I learned from this is that 343 is pretty good with shadows without usage of ray tracing. As others have said though, reflections would help a ton.
As soon as I turned the game on I noticed the game looked alot better
What are you talking about?? are you a microsft employee or what?
It’s very subtle but good. I’m surprised by how little it affects performance
Yeah, me too.
its because its not really a full raytracing. just shadows from what i've heard
@@MisterChief711 Yeah, it’s just sun shadows
that is because it isn't hardly doing anything. That being said, I drop to 100 fps in multiplayer btb now instead of 120
“Hey guys, I’ve just had this wonderful idea for Halo’s ray tracing! You know how it has all this amazing alien architecture and stuff? What if we DON’T put ray traced reflections in the game? Think of how great it’ll look!”
- 343, probably
Xbox can't handle RT reflections.
For a moment I thought the video editor was playing a joke on me but I can now see that this is real. Whoever out of 343 announced this as an upgrade, is completely the same
I think it's not worth it, I prefer more fps
Has this already been added to the game? I've noticed a huge dip in frame rates since the latest update and the colours look alot more vibrant. I'm with you, Idc bout better graphics I want the game to run how it did. Feels like I'm playing at 50fps or less now
@@Alex-sc9qc Yes, it was already added
@Hunter Zolomon is there anyway to turn it off? I did look in the settings but couldn't find an option?
thank you for making this comparison . and I’m happy to say we’re not missing much . non ray tracing even looks better at 0:33 , look at the tower , the ray traced shadows make it look worse imo .
Glad to help!
@@MxBenchmarkPC I mean of course overall rt shadows look better and sharper . but for the most part . shadows look good as is .
Nah
Are you blind? Lol
@Sammy Jo it looks a fair big person, playing the game myself just now, the character and vehicle shadows look so much better. I'm surprised my 3080 can handle it at 4k with ray tracing on high with pretty much everything on ultra. Really was not expecting that lol. Surely they've done some optimisations to the game. It seems to run a little better
Did they add FSR 2.0 also?
Nope, unfortunately there are no support for FSR or DLSS with the Season 3 update.
I hope they do add fsr
Definitely looks better, but it's not good enough for the performance drop
The performance cost of these RT shadows are around 10% on average, which is not a big cost for higher quality in my opinion.
For what performance drop? It drops by 10-20 fps with RT shadows
@@unclexbox85 Did you not get the memo? we must hate on RT always.
Is Ray Traced Shadows enabled in the campaign as well? Last I read about it, only Arena & BTB is mentioned.
Well, i've doublechecked the info and apparently the RT shadows are applied in multiplayer only, which is a very weird and lazy decision.
@@MxBenchmarkPC Well that would explain why turning it on was doing nothing for me. What BS.
@@MxBenchmarkPC lmao whine whine whine.
We only got ray traced shadows, what about ray traced Ambient Occlusion, Reflections?
It's RT Sun Shadows only.
Thanks for making this vid. It looks like RT barely makes a difference. Not worth turning on
Glad to help!
This game is still beautiful. But since the multiplayer was completely separate they should have left the multiplayer more like halo5 and the campaign more classic like this.
Has this already been added to the game ? Since the update on Tuesday evening I've noticed a huge dip in frame rates whilst playing online. Feels like I'm playing at like 50fps or something. I'd much rather have no ray tracing and a smoother online experience.
Yes its in the settings, you have to turn it on (off by default)
0:35 is it just me, or does it look worse here
Are some games just deliberately turning own on the non-raytraced shadow definitions, just to slap on some RTX? I fell like we've seen better quality shadows prior to raytracing.
Its subtle but nice,Is RT now only in Multi or in Campaign As well ?
Multiplayer only.
It makes no sense, shadows in any other game set on ultra look better and sharp, but it seems 343 did bad ultra shadows because they just dont know how to make proper triple A games.
This game still looks like plastic ass lifeless dull garbage.
Halo infinite has a pretty bad non-RT shadows which fails to shade distant geometry. At least one shortcoming might be alleviated assuming the devs don't limit the RT shadow coverage too much.
Admittedly this game would also benefit from additional ray tracing features like reflections, ambient occlusion and global illumination. Overall the lighting in this game is very basic. The only think that look nice are the materials for spartan armor and forerunner structures. The rest not so much.
Wish they had dlss so I could play it at high/ultra
Nothing about this screams RAYTRACING. Nothing but better shadows… no real reflections no better particle effects and heck even in some areas it looks worse by comparison.
For the comparison starting at 0:57, anyone know why the foliage isn't moving when Ray Tracing is enabled? Did they have to change this to ensure that the ray-traced shadows run properly or something?
The engine likely sees it as a static prop
@@laatma985 Hmm, I guess. Just seems like an unusual change for ray tracing. Makes the map seem a tad less lifeless
Can you test if ray tracing works for campaign
It does work in campaign as well.
@@MxBenchmarkPC can you show it please
@Unyielding i've doublechecked the info and apparently the RT shadows are applied in multiplayer only, which is a very weird and lazy decision.
So they only added RT shadows because of AMD crappy RT performance. Got it..
I don't ser any difference XD
343 should to update or upgrade the textures for series x version.
Lmfao, they RT on this game just looks like every other game without RT at this point, bless them for trying though!
spot the different challenge (Impossible difficulty)
not even 144 fps with the RTX 4080????
In this video 4K Ultra settings was used.
Looks awesome but I’ll have to pass having that in MP
It barely noticeable no point it adding it in. At least make full use with it now we have the new 4090 cards out and newer ones soon. This needs ray traced Ambient Occlusion with proper reflections as well with weather effect rain and snow along with better update on textures this game looked dated when they released it and now we have even newer and better looking games out now halo just looks even more old now
Pointless thing ever: bringing ray tracing to competitive multiplayer games.
How does this fucking game not have dlss or fsr yet
Así se debió de ver desde un principio:)
where is the option to turn on rt shadows, I cant seem to find it
Sad they put it in MP only.
Just goes to show the engine can't handle it open world. And they add the worst RT effect at that.
Halo could benefit a lot from RTGI.
Harder shadows doesn't mean better. I prefer the blurry edges than the RT edges. It even ruins a lot of the shadow details. NOT an upgrade.
Why not use raytracing as a model and then bake on the shadows that are accurate?
The game in campaign and online modes has dynamic timing???? otherwise it would not be possible to do so.
Does anyone know what happened to RTX for the Xbox series X? I don't see no option for all and also how do you turn on 120 frames per second on Halo infinite I just see an option for 30 or 60 frames and not 120.
your tv or monitor has to support 120hz. Then go to the Xbox setting and select 120hz.
well RTX = OFF then
Get less detail in the rail shadow and the trees dont move with RTX on
sooo basically is Ray Shadow right?
Right.
I have never seen a game up until now, that unironically looks worse with ray tracing.
How to make an irrelevant use of RT, by Halo
Is ray tracing on automatically on halo infinite?
It's disabled by default.
crap, even the 4080 can't reach 165fps at max settings
Does it work in campaign?
Multiplayer only at the moment.
@@MxBenchmarkPC Damn. And the one think I thought that would actually benefit from it r all those pine trees that have no shadows in the campaign hahaha.
donde se activa el RTX ?
How do I turn ray tracing on the series x?
Only available on PC atm, but 343 said Series X will get it sometime later
It looks awesome. Can't wait for it on series xm
I’m on pc, why won’t it let me turn on raytracing?
Make sure you are using the latest version of Windows 10/11 and the latest NVIDIA drivers.
and buy an rtx 2000/ rx 6000 or better
ray tracing ( shadows ) 🤡
Trash ass toystory-esque looking game … halo 3 looks better
Ray tracing “””” is do badly implemented, makes the game worse.
343 definetely are unable to bring a proper AAA fps game, its impossible for them
AVG 10 FPS LESS
Halo looks better with it off personally
It's not ray tracing 🤦♂
Looks the same lol. Crap update
best game ewer like tomb raider 2013😄
there is no difrence next😄
bots rocks😄
Why doesn't the trees and foliage move with ray tracing on? I'm going to take a in depth look at this myself
Play atomic Heart dlss quality 4k and Framegeneration. 120 fps easy with my 4090
