I Survived Fittest Man On Earth's Brutal Daily Routine
Not even into CrossFit, but just watching any documentary on Matt winning any of the games he won is like watching a legit superhuman among men.
Yea alot of ppl dont get how crazy these guys really are, ive always said, most ppl who workout would struggle after 10 min of doing what they do in a competition, and these guys are able to keep that pace up for hours, mult days in a row,
I'm not into it either, and I'll say that they def have a crazy level of endurance and power, which is what makes an athlete elite imo
Where can I watch the documentary? 😊
Its the peds

He should have left the part where Mat was going to talk about how his wife made all his meals that allowed him to focus on training and being the best. If it wasn't for her he wouldn't have been able to make any of this happen. They have a cookbook. The frasers are amazing
Yes. I was thinking he should’ve left that part in too. Sammy is amazing. She played a big part in his successful career.
Y'all need to go cook something
This is so unexpected! Mat Fraser is so underrated when it comes to lifting! He changed a lot damn
Not sure I would say Matt is underrated as a lifter. He was a powerlifter before finding CrossFit. Power lifting was one of the things that separated him from most of the CrossFit elite athletes.
@@chrisburton3571 weightlifter not powerlifter. Big difference
@@Bjorn_R From his bio: “Fraser has a background in Olympic weightlifting and was a junior national champion.” One of the functional areas of CrossFit is Olympic lifting…
@@chrisburton3571 Yes. Olympic weightlifting. Not powerlifting. Big difference.
@@orbbb24 Yes, it was a misspeak, but those responding to my initial post are missing the point. Matt came into CrossFit as an elite lifter. The original poster claimed that he was underrated. That is untrue, he has an extensive background.

The way Will walks off while Mat is mid sentence and his voice just fades out has me rolling 😂 you were honestly keeping up with them throughout up until the very end!!! Crossfit really is a true test of one’s strengths (and weaknesses)
He was never keeping up, edited to seem that way but after the first rd of anything they did he didn’t complete a single workout. My bet on the rower after the 2nd rd was under 1000cal/hr after the 5th 800cal/hr or less. He did however back squat well. Working out wise though he is not in shape to do anything high intensity or athletic
@@gokeymasterflexhe is definitely specialized in strength, his cardio is not very good compared to high end athletes.
2 observations: 1- Mat is a machine. That level of fitness is just unbelievable & 2- You just don’t realise how massive & strong Will is until you see him with “normal” sized people. Brilliant video as always
Mat is actually tiny at 5ft 6 as are most of the elite crossfitters. It's a sport that favours shorter people for sure
I always think the same thing about Rick bugenhagen. Some of those body builder boys are like intermediate powerlifters.
Will is fucking huge & strong and he seems to keep growing
@@shanehickey9022 Most of them are between 85 and 92 Kg. Above that no matter how strong you are the gymnastics will take a big hit due your bodyweight, and despite you usually can have 1-2 heavy lifting exercises in the Crossfit Games (like a deadlift or a clean ladder) most of the workouts are a mix between pure cardio and mid weight lifting, so endurance scores a lot more points than just being the strongest at static lifts. Although can be argued that Decathlon is equally valid to define "fittest on Earth" and the talent pool and money involved is much larger.
Truth
Mat is for sure built different to be able to do these specialized workouts. It woulda kicked anyones ass lmao great stuff Will

As a former CrossFitter, who still enjoys the occasional WOD, it was entertaining watching Will doing some of the movements.
Im shocked he doesnt clean
@@RT-qz5ci he does but only after the jerk
@@RT-qz5ci I thought the same initially, but unless you’re into Olympic lifting, it’s just not a lift people do. IMOH, after snatches, cleaning is the next difficult move to execute with proper form. Especially if you have tight wrists and elbows. Getting under the bar fast and low is also a challenge for people. The one thing Will has in his favor is the fact he is stronger AF. I had flashbacks to when I first started learning Olympic lifts.
@@chrisburton3571 same lol
Will never fails to deliver
For people unaware, mat is one of the most unique people out there. He is amazing at everything. Towards the beginning, he’s flaw was running, but he improved that making him indeed the best and imo the fittest in the world (that’s been recorded). Also he moved into coaching when he retired and some of the athletes he trains have become so great. As someone who loves fitness I think Will is very lucky to have had this experience with him
The people he trains have already made multiple games appearances before being trained by him.
Lucky?? Lucky I guess to meet him, but that was horrible coaching. He could have gotten way better coaching at any CF gym.
The way you incorporate your sense of humor to your exercise/workouts are amazing. I always look forward to your uploads. Would love to see more of you and Dr. Mike!
As a previous rower and now coxswain, I love the recognition of how tough rowing is, it's definitely not easy and having to train on the rowing machine most definitely induces anxiety knowing that the workout you're about to do is going to be painful, on top of knowing that your time counts. Also really great form on the rowing machine Will! Honestly very impressed
How in the hell you get that? All my coxswains were these tiny dudes like 5'5" who would cut you down to their level 😂.
Is rowing cardio or weightlifting?
@@Joeybsmoothit’s a power endurance sport so it’s cardio that requires muscle

@@hardlylast people criticize what they don't know. The idea that people are stuck to one way or no way at all tells you the limitations. You should train with him to know they why and the results rather than blow someone off without knowing anything at all. LOL

Being fit is a amorphous concept. One person thinks fit is strength, another endurance.
I used to lift a lot. Strength was my fitness measurement. Then i got into road cycling and it changed my whole concept. As soon as i understood how hard it is to maintain a certain wattage over a whole course AND charge through uphill sections, to me fit changed to endurance.
And not just endurance, but being able to maintain while putting out a lot of power. So its a measure of your VO2 Max and lactate thresholds.
Now i view Tour De France and pro cycling as some of the fittest people alive. I can appreciate what they do.
But Matt is a freak and deserves all of the accolades he has.
I agree. Personally I think Ross Edgley is the fittest man alive.
found Greg deucette
Or explosivity ... e.g. track sprinters
Many of the cyclists that do The tour de France are extremely unhealthy though and suffer from low bone density, lack of muscle mass resulting in emaciation, and lack the capacity to do basic ballistic movements or weightlifting. Many are underweight and suffer from eating disorders. Obviously they have great endurance and the ability to sustain high levels of pain. Similarly many Strongmen and Powerlifters are obese have little aerobic or endurance capacity and overconsume food to stay at high body mass. They suffer greatly for their sport but not sure how 'fit' they are. Those are very narrow definitions of fitness and instead I'd say they excel at their individual sport.
Crossfit defines fitness as increased work capacity across broad time and modal domains. Capacity is the ability to do real work, which is measurable using the basic terms of physics (mass, distance, and time). They use 10 physicals skills to judge fitness including cardio/endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance, accuracy. For the general population being balanced in these areas is a good indicator of fitness rather than hyper-specialization required for a sport. This is an interesting foundational article on the matter from a Crossfit perspective: journal.crossfit.com/article/what-is-fitness. Don't get me wrong I love sport but I'm just attempting to make fitness a less amorphous concept.
@@zarbins As you as you don't watch the abomination called the Crossfit Games where all that goes out the window, they demonstrate they can hardly ride a bike, momentum is used to cheat on a lot of exercises (hand stand pushups anyone?) and form completely goes out of the window for "max reps" .... yeah ...
Well done on pushing so hard. Most would have backed on way before. Also thank you for showing how hard some of it is. Filming stuff not going quite so well is such a positive message that we are not all good at everything, but that is a good thing. Back square was epic!!!!!!

I've enjoyed watching Matt over the years. Dedicated, principled, great human. I started working out at 10, over 5 decades later still kicking it, learned a ton. Crossfit is a blast to watch but brutal on the body. Despite peds, anti-inflammatory practices, and thoughtful warm-ups, crossfit workouts compress your vertebrae over time, wears down your ligaments and tendons, and positions you strongly for diminished mobility in your 50's and beyond.
No disrespect to the crossfit movement. A tight culture with great energy, great people, who are living with integrity, all good. Crossfit is a recovery sport that unfortunately narrows the wonderful emotional and physical benefits of working out to a grind and recovery "sport".
Training should invigorate your life. Max lifts and PR's are unsustainable pursuits with huge lifelong detrimental impacts. Workouts in the 40% to 80% zone allow all physical and emotional benefits, minimizes lifelong injuries, leaves energy for daily and other fun / family activities, and safeguards your recovery and immune systems.
I was 180 lbs when I was in the Marine Corps, lifting, wrestling, boxing daily. Loved it all and absolutely loved the combative arts for 10 years. Went on to coach wrestling, awesome experience coaching and supporting young people. Intense, grind it out workouts were my bread and butter for decades. They came with huge costs. Crossfitters are under the impression that they can avoid the downside of body crunching, grind till you can't workouts with chemical support and thoughtful programming. Neither is true nor sustainable. Working out hard is not the challenge, never was. Balancing sustainable, enjoyable workout sessions with systemic recovery is the true challenge and mission for lifelong benefits. It's a huge mindset change, but I did it, and it's been life changing.
All my best to the crossfit community. I love watching all of you put it all on the line. Your dedication and effort is literally super human. Turns out, you pay a huge price for being superhuman, with lifelong downsides. Life is short and as you age you'll look back and re-evaluate the effects of body crunching crossfit workouts on your health. The athletic choices you make in your 20's and 30's will determine your vigor, strength, and mobility in your 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's. Crushing PR's in your 30's may inhibit your ability to move with freedom in your 70's. Workout with wisdom. I want all crossfitters to fully enjoy the benefits of strength, mobility, and stamina that will allow every athlete great health today, and into their later decades.
