    Best bang for the buck .....E85 ! Yes it requires 30% more fuel for bike or car to run properly . Pump gas has a stoich value of 14.7 and e85 is like 9.7-9.9 , the horsepower is gained due to E85 being 30-33% oxygenated fuel !!! C85 is 90% ethanol and it's that all the time . Chris next time you do a E85 tune , throw some C85 in for testing 👌

    Generally, E85 gives 15 - 27% less fuel mileage while saving 25% cost. It's basically a wash economically and may articles say it costs more in the end. Interestingly E85 has some 1/3 less energy per gallon, but do to higher octane (more like diesel) you can give it a high state of tune and actually extract more torque and horsepower when tuned accordingly. The real advantages are it potential tuning characteristics, think alcohol fueled race cars, and it's assumed to be better for the environment. Like Chris says, the fuel changes dramatically with the seasons, much more than normal pump gas, but primarily in colder states, I believe. Gasoline blends actually vary around the country by season and region, mostly do to EPA and local regs.

    It’s worth it for race purposes. There can be some maintenance issues. Hard on the fuel system.

    • @chrisochsenbein4623
      @chrisochsenbein4623 3 роки тому +1

      Common misconception it actually has excellent cleaning properties that can cause clogging when clearing out gunk from gasoline. Adding an aftermarket E85 filter before switching can help reduce that potential. While it!s true older vehicles can suffer damage to the fuel system. Vehicles made 1994 and later are designed to handle ethanol.

    • @ecc5119
      @ecc5119 3 роки тому

      Gunk is one, the other is many will not upgrade the pump and injectors . When flowing the system , it’s best to treat it like methanol for flow requirements. Use the barrel not the pump fuel for extra protection against blend variations.

    • @chrisochsenbein4623
      @chrisochsenbein4623 3 роки тому

      @@ecc5119 100% correct I guess I assumed that was common knowledge 🤷‍♂️ when switching to E85 the A/F ratio is significantly different you must switch out the pump and injectors! I only mention the filter cause I missed it at first and clogged my brand new injectors. If I Remember right it was a $100 fix to have them cleaned. But it ran great afterwards!

    • @ecc5119
      @ecc5119 3 роки тому +1

      I ran a methanol outlaw drag car on methanol 2k plus hp , it is possible to change the basket screens on injectors but match flowing is best. I always ran my weakest and strongest injector in the same cylinder to help match flow between cylinders. the new screw in injectors are awesome at preventing leaks under 100 pound plus boost pressures.

    On my 12:1 supercharged F150 Coyote 5.0, A switch from pump 91 to our local E70 (with tuning) my eighth mile went from a 7.7@93-95 mph, to a 7.3 @ 101, same boost / pulley ratio. It seems like the higher the cylinder pressure whether it's from boost, compression ratio, or a combination of both, the more beneficial Ethanol becomes. When the truck was NA it also benefitted from Ethanol, but not to the same extent. They also command quite a bit more timing advance on Ethanol vs 91 Gasoline from looking at the datalogs. Coyotes are blessed with front wideband 02 sensors, and also factory knock sensors to pull back timing if knock is detected.

Stay on top of maintenance ie run a tank of 93 through it once a month and watch fuel filters and you’ll have no major problems

    • @connor1982

    It only makes sense if you’re running race E85 because of the variation in pump E85. And there goes your $2/gal pipe dream.
    A custom ECU, fuel pump, injectors, and a tune to compensate for any/all ratios of ethanol to gasoline is what it needs to be truly usable on the street.
    It sure looks like an easy way to gain 10 hp, but it’s a compromise too.

Never owned one unfortunately though. *Damn wife will not let me have one!* I understood her not letting me get one when I was younger, probably would of killed myself, but I'm 47 y/o now, and I want to just RIDE. Yet it looks as if *watching* is all I'll ever be able to do. 😔
    Thanks though for awesome content, makes me feel tingly inside watching you do your thing. Keep it coming brother. ✌

    Nice gains. Hope you spent some more time on < 100% throttle. Definitely heard that lean crackle @ 10:50
