    Excellent work my friend, you really made a great job of the B-17 and as for the B-17 paintwork, just superb. I know I normally praise the paintwork from modellers, but this one is just top class and you have achieved a great result from your hard work.
    I hope that you enjoy your next project just as much and have plenty of fun with the build,

      Jak zapuścisz linie czarnym washem, to panele będą bardzo ładnie wyeksponowane. I wtedy będą się ładnie mienić. Z resztą i tak już teraz wyglądają naprawdę świetnie. Można też użyć innej metody. Czarny podkład a na niego biała lub szara farba na panele które mają być jaśniejsze. Potem całe lakiery Sido itp.. Na koniec malujesz sobie cały model Duraluminum. Generalnie wyszło super.. panele nie kontrastują ze sobą bardzo mocno. Czekam na kolejne aktualizacje z niecierpliwością :)

    A previous post asked a question, "What is future"? In the USA, it's now marketed as "Pledge Floor Care". It used to be marketed as "Future" and in watching modelling videos, almost everyone calls it "Future" which is very confusing to us new guys getting back into the hobby.

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  6 років тому

      Yeah, I know it's confusing. I stopped using brand names in my more recent movies, since this compound has different name in every country (Pledge, Future, Sidolux and probably plenty more). I say when I use a gloss varnish, but the viewer has to find a local equivalent himself.

    Hiya! I’m at the stage of masking for the darker alclad panels. Did you tape directly on to the bare lighter aluminium alclad ie without a coat of gloss? I’d hate to tape it up and then the masking pulls off some of the paint!!

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  5 років тому

      Well, I didn't cover the surface...
      To prevent the tape from taking too much pigment with it, you can lower its adhesiveness by attaching it to your skin once or twice. Simple trick, but works as a charm :)
      Of course better try it somewhere it won't be visible if something goes wrong.

    Nice work. Just a suggestion you might find useful: try a dedicated primer airbrush like an Iwata RG-3. You won’t have dusty overspray resulting in a coarse finish that you need to sand.

    What is the white glue you used to temporally attach canopy?

    • @Big-Modeller

      It's ordinary white glue, one children use for gluing paper and wood.

  • @zlee11
    @zlee11 7 років тому

    What red and olive drab did you use. Was it acrylic? Have you had and problems spraying an acrylic over a lacquer?

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  7 років тому

      Both of them was Tamiya acrylic. There was no problem with spraying, but it does not grip to the surface well. I tried not to touch the painted surface, because it could scratch. That's a good way to make scratches deliberately, if you want your plane to look more worn out, but I didn't want to do this.
      After couple layers of gloss varnish, colours are well protected now.

  • @defiant9112
    @defiant9112 4 роки тому +1

    I notice you hold the parts together and then add thin glue to the joints. Do you have to sand of the glue once it has dried?

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  4 роки тому

      That's the beauty of this glue. The excess dries fast and doesn't leave marks on the surface. It basically melts the plastic in the crevice between parts but dries instantaneously everywhere else without melting the plastic.

    Why did you first paint the Clear parts with silver?

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  6 років тому +2

      Because interiors of this plane should be silver. This way painted part of the clear element is silver from the outside and inside.
      If I used grey/black primer, those parts would have been grey/black inside.

  • @DavidSmith-ss1cg
    @DavidSmith-ss1cg 7 років тому

    I am in awe of the results you get, but I wonder why you apply Future on top of what looks like the base coating for your aluminum finish. I know that the olive-drab sections are anti-glare and will be matte finish, and the de-icing boots on the leading edges of the tail and wings are a kind of rubber, and will be a semi-gloss black. The difference in the aluminum color sections isn't a surprise, knowing your high standards, is there any color difference in the fabric-covered control surfaces? Thanks for sharing your fine work, your videos are like college seminars. Keep it up!

    • @Big-Modeller
      @Big-Modeller  7 років тому

      That's a lot of questions ;)
      I'm not sure if I understand them all correctly.
      As for the Future on the base coating - I put it on the whole plane, to protect it before decaling and weathering. I'll matt those olive drab patches later.
      I didn't paint ailerons with another paint, they have a little different texture, so I hope it'll be enough.
