    Thanks for the "pre" review of the set! A couple things I wanted to add. If you want giant 2048 x 2048 sprue pics, you can just right click and open them up on the product page here: wargamesatlantic.com/collections/world-ablaze/products/italian-infantry
    Also along with the heavier MGs on the two half sprues that are included in the set there is also a Breda modello 30 on every one of the main sprues so you get five of them in the box.
    And here's a mash up of our WW1 Germans and Warlord Germans done by the team at Wargames Soldiers and Strategy Magazine to give you a sense of the sizes: www.karwansaraypublishers.com/wssblog/plastic-ww1-german-hybrids/

    Everyone says Warlord Games panicked once WGA announced their kit, but the sculpts for the Warlord's Italians has been known for months now and there have been teasers in several newsletters too even. If anything, these have been long in the works and they were planned out for a announcement to line up with their Warlord open day.
    WGA just caught everyone by surprise because there were no teasers up right until they were put up for pre-order.

    Something to consider is that Wargames Atlantic kits don't come with bases, so supplying them yourself may or may not be a problem. Also, you get 5 carried MGs from the infantry sprues in addition to the 2 mounted MGs from the command sprues. Otherwise, great breakdown, and it's neat to see that the two boxes fill a different niche, so they don't make each other redundant. I recommend you take a look at their plastic Panzer Lehr.

    My grandfather was a captain in the Alpini. When Mussolini came into power he joined the partisans and would spend the rest of the war fighting behind enemy lines conducting special operations and espionage. He ignited my interest in WWII. Even though he had witnessed far too many atrocities he often spoke of his love for the Alpini and he ran a local Alpini veterans group here in Australia. He passed many years ago but I still miss him everyday. He was my hero.

    Something to be said about Wargames Atlantic, RE Shipping costs, is they have a very generous policy of making orders over $50 have free shipping. Two boxes of anything will easily hit that limit. But now they also sell a box of 25mm bases (since the kits themselves don't come with them) for $15. So one kit and a set of 60 bases hits that free shipping threshold exactly.
    (WA also gives discounts for buying the same kit in bulk. So if you want A LOT of infantry, like three boxes worth, that's another point in Wargames Atlantic's favor.)

    • @HollywoodWargaming
      @HollywoodWargaming  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah. Shipping has absolutely killed Warlord Games for me. I pretty much have to buy LGS stock and unfortunately they don’t have a lot of the more obscure North African campaign stuff I want.

    First of all, it was an awesome video as usual. Thank you! I was going through the same mental process a few days ago. I'll be getting both sets (One will get to fight in Africa and the other stays defending Italy). I'm planning on doing a review of both kits here on UA-cam. I got a couple of Wargames Atlantic boxes a few months ago, they're really good. The only problem with the ones I got was that, when it comes to finding the correct arms for certain weapons, there's no instructions or numbers to guide you. I didn't check on their website but it took me some time to dry-fit different arms unit I found a good combination. When it comes to plastics, the wargames Atlantic kits have very good plastics. No complains. They remind me of those Italeri 1/56 scale kits and tank crew when I was building them.

    I got the Italy and Axis supplement and the only unit that can have more than one SMG is the Parachute/Air Assault group with 7 plus the NCO at 8 out of a 9 man squad. The only other one you might be able to pull off is the San Marco/Marine squads as there is several photo's and film with quite a few Beretta M-38's among them in said photo's and film. All the rest only the NCO has the SMG option.

  • @armyjacky96
    @armyjacky96 3 роки тому +1

    WA is a nice middle ground between heroic and true scale. I got the WWI Great War Germans and used their arms for my WG Greatcoat Germans and it fits. Height wise, they're close too. Comparing plastics, WA is hard plastic, kind of the same quality as later WG models. I would say WA is good with your metal army, depending on how old the WG models are. My WG Finnish is less heroic than the newer metals like my WG Hungarians. I would definitely recommend WA sets because they offer new stuff that you don't see in plastic, especially their French set.

    My Wargames Atlantic French WW1/WW2 should arrive tomorrow. That is when I will decide whether or not to go with Atlantic or Warlord Italians. I did see the models at Warlords recent open day. They are good the Gustatori (Pioneers/engineers) especially look good, the flamethrower equipped models head, masked, looks really good. I will compare the WA French to the WG metal French that I have, dismounted cavalry, and see how the sculpts match up size wise. I have some 3D prints of the AS34 and the AS34 Autoprotecto as I prefer them to the more complex build required of plastic models. I do have one of the WG M13/40 (I do hate those tracks, having lost 1 of the little corner pieces) BUT the main deciding factor is the the WA figures have an integral base which, I believe works better with the sunken WG bases.

    Wargames Atlantic better be planning to offer something more because -I see no reason to pay nearly twice as much per model as I do from Warlord on German infantry- the last thing they should be doing is sticking to things Warlord already sells in plastic, even if they sell them cheaper.
