I'm sorry but I'm sure I'm not the only person who thinks that Hermes bags are ugly or at least not that great looking. It only proves people are vain period.
I dont know if you are the only one but maybe you are one of few. They are gorgeous.
Beauty is subjective but personally I do think Hermes bags are..boring. I like bags that are versatile and practical. Birkins unfortunately you can't carry them around your shoulders or across body so again, not functional for me.

I didn't appreciate them until I saw the birkin/kelly in real life - the heritage leathers and sellier Kelly (box calf) is genuinely stunning. The truly are a piece you could invest in and hold for life if you care for them and Hermes actually does repairs.
I haven't been able to get them out of my mind since, huge regrets, so if you dislike the bag keep it that way. I'm in no rush to buy one considering it would be a huge liability and stressor at this point in my life but maybe one day :')
They’re ugly, the construction is clean, the handle is very fine, but the whole flap and buckle part is just ugly. It cuts across the flap at a weird ratio in relation to the size of the flap AND the overall vertical height of the bag. Also the proportions of the hardware are ugly in relation to the rest of the bag. It looks like an awkward briefcase, there’s nothing about the design that’s iconic in and of itself. Certain designs out there stand on their own outside of branding and trend popularity. This is not one of them. The nicest parts are the clean overall shape and the lovely handles, the buckle and flap is just not quite right, rather awkward.
I love the irony in that this bag is inspired by Jane Birkin. Yet, Jane Birkin always carried around a large wicker basket. She is the icon of effortless chic. It takes a LOT of effort to aquire a Hermes Birkin or Kelly. Too much effort. I like 'effortless' chic, thank you!
The people that are desperate for the bags make it gross. There are plenty of emotionally healthy people that have a chill view to the bags. They are the ones that try for the bag but their life and happiness doesn't revolve around it. The ones not spending heaps of money on useless things in the hopes of getting a bag.

Up to $250k??!! yeah unless I can live inside that Birkin, I'll use that $$ to buy me some real estate😆

Ok. I will say it bluntly. Hermès treats people like shit and their brand deserves to go down in flames, along with their imperious, haughty attitudes, piss-poor customer service, and their shady linked-selling tactics. This last is illegal in many jurisdictions, but everyone knows you have to buy a boatload of other Hermès products even to QUALIFY to buy a Kelly or Birkin. Especially for all you ladies who care about supreme quality, luxury, style and accessories, if you are willing and able to spend a huge amount of money on a handbag, you should permit no company to treat you with disdain, imperiousness or indignity. If they do this to you even once, WALK AWAY. May Hermès, LVHM and The Arnaults learn the cruel lessons that their subornation of mistreatment has caused their customers.
This bag reminds me of The Emperor's New Clothes. I jusr saw on UA-cam this pretty young woman so excited about getting her first birkins. She said it proovrs that she made it. It brings her so much happniess. But i only saw this pretty young lady holding an black boxy ugly thing!
The style, the lock the work, the craft, the use of material, I respect all that. But the exclusivity and price is ridiculous. People who keep the poor poor in order to buy these bags are more ridiculous.
The ridiculous price is more about exclusivity. The rich want some things all to themselves.
Luxury isn't worth it, you're paying for the name and status not just the leather and craftsmanship. I get any luxury goods from TK Maxx if I need things anyway, I wouldn't specifically buy things to just show off. No one is interested in the label you carry that's just in a rich persons head that people care.
TK Maxx does not sell luxury products, at best they sell premium brands such as Ralph Lauren and DKNY. You would never find an LV, YSL or Hermes bag there. Second, many people are interested in brands and usually it is not the really rich people but the aspiring rich because they see it as a way to gain status, the real rich dont need it.
If these bags were at Walmart, would people buy them?
Hermès customers should not have to engage in the equivalent of ongoing Adult Continuing Education in order to "show" the SA's their "commitment' to the brand. It's a purchase, not a pilgrimage to the Holy Land ffs.
My dream Birkin or Kelly is a very very used one. They look better beat up. The pristine ones you see parading down the street with scarves, twillys and funny horses hanging off them are ridiculous and frankly, childish.
Depends if the bag is sellier or retourne. Sellier looks nice with a few scuffs but nothing extreme whereas the retourne looks good when used and more slouchy.
In the early 80’s my parents were off to Europe & asked if I wanted anything. Birkin I said. Dumb & twenty, my mom laughed. I got perfume instead. Nowadays they’ve been cheapened by the likes of Kim/Kylie & every Rapper out there. Thanks but no thanks. Shame

Maybe I’m a philistine, but I just don’t get it. There’s nothing remarkable about the Birkin, to me. There are lots of bags under $1k (heck, under $500) that have great quality leather, perfect stitching, beautiful hardware - so why?

Besides celebrities, real rich people could care less about Birkins. In fact, they are considered tacky and mainly for the nouveaux rich to impress each other. In sex and the city, there is an episode where Carrie has a green Birkin and SJP admitted it was fake.

I’m little bit confused about the little tiny locks that are on the front of all these purses ? it seems that either they are just for decoration or they actually have some functionality in which case you would have to carry around a tiny little key with you might easily be lost ??? !
What kind of features would you like on a purse that you might be willing to pay two or $300 for?
It seems to me that it should be bulletproof against small arms fire, be extremely durable, have an inside battery that you can easily connect to your phone, when not in use, be reasonably attractive, but not ostentatiously so, have lots of interior pockets for organization purposes, I have a fingerprint lock or a lock that is connected to a ring that the user wears, It should also be expandable so that if you suddenly find yourself needing to carry a somewhat greater amount of crap than you normally carry, the bag will be able to accommodate that…
I’ve watched several of these Birkin videos on the bags so far and it’s curious that none of these videos address any of these issues !
A Birkin bag isn’t that expensive they’re only 8 to 10,000 and they re-sell for 40 to 60 depending on which one you get
People who spend that insane amount of money just to tote around things are basically trying to boost their own self confidence. They are certainly nice looking, but so are many others that cost far less. And guess what, ladies...when you are walking down the street nobody knows what brand your handbag nor do they care!
