No EQ, compression, or processing of any kind.
Thank God he played a different song with each guitar so it was virtually impossible to distinguish the differences.

I bought a Br-140A and a Br-160A. One rosewood and one mahogany. Both with Adirondack spruce tops. Love them both!

Hey there! Know this is an older comment, but I was wondering if you still have and enjoy these guitars. I'm looking at these exact two models, but I'm torn between them. The BR-140A sounds beautifully articulate and balanced from the online clips I've seen, but it's kinda hard to tell if it has enough low end oomph. Then the 160A sounds like it has all of that low end sweetness, but is maybe a tad less balanced than the 140A. Unfortunately, none of my local shops carry Blueridge guitars and I'm having to purely go off of forums and video clips online. Which do you prefer of yours? Cheers!
That BG-40 sounds really good for the money! They're €130.- more than the BR-40 but definitely worth it. I have totally fallen in love with the slope shoulder sound, and you don't see them as often as the dreadnought models. If you want something recognizable among the hundreds and hundreds of natural dreadnoughts, these BGs are the way to go, IMO

Have owned a Blueridge BG140 for many years, these hold up well. As durable as they sound great.

I have BR 40 and it sounds better than my old Martin did. Maybe I just got lucky with a choice piece of wood or Luther. But. You'll never get me to sell my blueridge. It has that Marin sound for gospel and blue grass, that I like.
Nice, could be even more useful if the song where consistent between models and a mix of fingerpiking, soft and hard struming.

I recently picked up a BR40. It was one of 6 or 7 Blueridges I tried out. The other models were a mix of 40's, 43's a 163 model and 2 higher end Blueridges. I preferred the BR40 because it sounded the sweetest, wasn't too boomy, but has punch when you need it, and just had that good resonance that vibrates your chest and makes you cough. I love it....and I could have chosen from any number of Martins or Guilds
I bought a BR-40 for taking to classes and other events, and I decided to try some bone bridge pins to complete the bone ensemble (nut, saddle, bridge pins are now all bone.) Wow, really nice improvement in the sound for under $15. I wonder why the manufacturers don't just put bone pins in at the factory, it would be cheaper than $10 a guitar at scale.
i have a 160a should i bother changing the pins out ?
I have BR 40. And I fpund it at my local music store. I picked it up and couldn't put it down Then I noticed it was the last one they had long story short i went home with it. Best investment I ever made sounds better than my old Martin. Don't know if they all sound this good. But you ain't getting this one brother ,
I’ve had the BR-180 for many years and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I bought my Blueridge BR-160 back in 2003 during college when they first came out in the US market and it's still with me today. Sadly, I haven't had much time play it in the last few years due to work and family but I sometimes bring it out to clean it and make sure she's still ok. And when I strike a few chords, I immediately remember why I loved this guitar. Is she a Martin? No, but she can come close in terms of tone. Would I love to buy a Martin? Of course but perhaps another time. But for now, I'm satisfied with my BR-160. :)

BR-J39CE is all it states on the inside of mine Wish I could date it or find any info on it.... it's an electric/acoustic Black w cream binding Sounds fantastic

The smaller BR60 is great on depth of sound with 11;s do not use 12's

I don't think they picked the best guitar player to do these demos. These guitars sound way better than this. Way better.
Playing the same thing on each guitar would have been something useful.

The BR 40 is a laminate
where does it say it isnt? (actual question, not a smart-ass comment)
The back and sides are, but the top of an ordinary BR-40 has a SOLID Sitka spruce top, and the BR-40A has a SOLID Adirondack spruce top and is about the same price as a SOLD mahogany BR-140 with a Sitka spruce top, so every step up costs about €150-200.- extra. The BR-40 is a very good starter's guitar and so is the BG-40 (slope shoulder). You can enjoy it for many years to come. Guitars with a solid top will motivate a starter to study more, because the interaction with the instrument is better than when you have a totally laminated guitar... (although good laminated ones EXIST, but they are rare. You're really lucky if you find a good one).
There are NO Blueridge branded SAGA guitars with a laminated top. The totally laminated one are in a separate brand, called BRISTOL.
These are laminated guitars that DON'T demotivate the starter, which is important if you invest several hundreds of dollars.
