This round was the first golf round I ever saw live. I was 15 years old and went with my dad and brother. I remember distinctly watching Tiger on #2 and then we stayed and saw Dustin’s collapse on the same hole. It was a great day to see in person and honestly I believe this era of golf was the best era. Not just because of Tiger, but because of everyone that was playing, the clothing style, the NBC and CBS broadcasts, the announcers, etc. thanks USGA for uploading these! It really takes me back!
NBC really did a great job with these broadcasts. They made it a show and they created drama where it could be made. Something I think TV lacks these days with sports
Is it just me, or do the greens here look bloody awful? Looks to me like the greenskeeper at one of the most prestigious courses in the country might have been out looking for a new job.
There supposed to be like that. Its Poana grass , it grows well in that soil and climate. The greens were also most likely firmer and faster cut shorter for the Open and that may make them look more blotchy and brown spots. Lots of great golf courses around the World don't always have perfect green grass has nothing to do with green quality just the type of grass being used and the climate the course is in and how the course management wants the greens playing.

That's bc Johnny Miller was part of it..the best golf commentator ever..the ones today are bland and boring
1:46:42 Big Cat playing tennis
15:31 Shaun Micheel albatross
i miss johnny miller
Dustin Hoffman!! 😅😅😅
@1:15:30 Phil's lone highlight of the day
Forgot how much of a blood bath this was
It didn't take away from the drama of the event
Always felt like Ernie should have won this one.
Love Ernie, but if he should have, he would have.
Only Phil can look classy wearing pajama bottoms.
Dustin Hoffman got off to a rough start
He got rattled when he saw Mrs. Robinson in the gallery.
Micklesons trousers are a fucking crime

I think they look awful. I watched swwog, 1963, nicklaus vs Snead & they were so much better
I think they look interesting
Poa cut fast and prepared to be firm. Tough surfaces west coast thing.
