Great reaction. The easy symbolism: The black leather jumper is similar to Elvis' outfit he wore on the 1968 comeback special, the red guitar is exactly the same one he used in that same special, and the iconic beehive hairdo is the same one Priscilla Presley made famous in the 1966-1968 timeframe. My interpretation of other symbolism - the removing of the dust covers signified dusting off an old classic and revitalizing a beloved song from a long ago era. The little girls, who were her two cousins and her sister depict her life in music growing up and developing surrounded by the old classics which shaped her love of music. Angelina is the classiest, most authentic, musically intelligent, and talented artist I have had the privilege to witness in my 57 years. This performance was a masterful re-interpretation of this iconic song. Mad respect to the King of Rock and Roll from the Queen of Jazz.

What a glorious production, praise to everyone involved, so perfect for Angelina Jordan she rules the universe with her talent. Again, the great talent of Rob Christie playing the piano. The Cinemaphotography, a total MASTERPIECE, Excellent ART Cole McCarthy! Great touch, the cousins and sister get a cameo. Mery, you should be so proud, AJ's grandma produced this. (This red guitar is identical to the one Elvis played in his 1968 concert on TV.) Oh, the tears, and loss of breath, she is like no other in the universe. Here is a classic example of what this ethereal talent, Angelina Jordan, can achieve she takes a mundane song and turns it in to phenomenal classic. Angelina at 16 is the MASTER of her universe, she is top priority for both Stargate, and AJ's voice has been unique since she was 7 years old and now at 16, she controls us as an audience, leaving us hang on every word and phrase

When you said this made you spellbound, I thought about how Angelina mesmerized the audience with Bohemian Rhapsody. This is the 2022 equivalent of that performance. She sings the same lyrics as Elvis and Freddie did, but the emotional impact is completely different-and we’re spellbound by the way Angelina brings the lyrics to life with her uniquely beautiful voice. Angelina’s gift to us is making us not just hear the lyrics, but we also feel them. Any lyricists should hope that Angelina chooses their song because she delivers the message like no one else.

The song was written by Mark James. In the Wikipedia entry of the origins of the song, he is said to have remarked "That late one night, he was fooling around on his Fender guitar and using his Hammond organ pedals for a bass line and came up with what he thought was a catchy melody. At the time, he was married to his first wife but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart, who was married back in Houston. James's wife had suspicions about his feelings. He felt it was a confusing time for him and that all three were "caught in this trap that they could not walk out of."
Other singers covering this song invariably base their performance on that of Elvis, in that it is very "upbeat". Angelina took a very different path in that she read and understood the lyrics and what Mark James intended when writing them . To my mind, her rendition is much truer to the emotions of the song.
The children appearing in the video were Angelina's cousins Aurora (first) and then Athena - daughters of her uncle Michael Astar, and then her sister Juliette. I would hazard a guess that they were included to emphasise that children are very important to Angelina and her family.
Confession! I have never been a great fan of Elvis Presley, although I do like some of his earlier recordings, and I had never heard of the song "Suspicious minds" but knew that Angelina would completely take ownership of it, and she did. It was beautiful. After listening to it several times, I decided to download the lyrics to see whether she kept to the original structure. She didn't, and the song is all the better for it. For me, that she started with the Bridge of the song is very significant and, I feel, very indicative of Angelina's "up front" transparency. She was declaring that it was important that their love did not die, and then carries on to say why she feels as she does. Others first say how they feel and then, almost as an afterthought, assure their love they don't want it to end. For me, it is whether I feel the singer is genuine about the situation and wishes it could be resolved or whether the singer understands the situation but thinks the blame is on her/his partner but feels the need to assure them they don't want it to end (until somebody else comes along).
Yeah! She’s something special, isn’t she? Pure Velvet Perfection! This vocal arrangement was all Angelina, I have no doubt in collaboration with a stellar team including Rob Christie & Mery Zamani her Grandmother. She is a Master Storyteller. The video is shot in the same Antique Store that she did 'My Funny Valentine' on Valentine’s Day. I believe it is in LA near her home. I believe the girls in the video represent Angelina's Journey from infancy to present through the classics of music history. Thus the Antique store, She grew up studying and performing these classics. Did you notice that right foot raise it''s heal to cradle the guitar a couple of times in the performance. I was waiting for her to throw in a little shake to it in homage to the King. Could that have been intentional? That is Rob Christie on piano. Sister Juliette and a couple of Uncle Michael's Babies. I think that makes them cousins not nieces. Full Black Leather Bodysuit, the guitar from his concert in 68 and the hair a homage to Priscilla Presley. Yeah! She can bring tears to your eyes. Epic. AJ deconstructs a song then reconstruct it to make each individual hearing it feel it was written for them, a love letter to their comfort zone. @@larrypifer1103 Im sorry but every cover she's done, and there are lots were perfect before she decided sing them otherwise she would'nt have chosen them , just because she puts on a gravelly voice that makes it hard to decipher the words doesn't mean she nailed it . I admire her talent but haven't you seen this stuff lots of times on talent shows . I would like to hear more original songs instead of the well known standards which obviously draw in an audience because they know the song and are curious to see what she's done to it. When are we going to see her hit the heights of Amy Winehouse or have those times gone ?

My interpretation of the symbolism of this music video: First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 16 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances. In this video we see her as a married woman in her mid to late 20s. As the video starts out, we see dishes, and it is a symbol of a home. As AJ sings the phrase “Were caught in a trap, I can’t walk out” we see 3 small children, this to me is a marriage where the children come first. If it were AJ by herself, she would not stay in a relation without trust.
AJ adapts the performance to pay homage but then makes it her own and so much better than the original.
Love that she dressed like Elvis on his comeback special 68. The guitar, the hair, the dress. It’s like you can see Elvis soul in her eyes.

This video production is pure Angelina Jordan's Genus in full display filled with symbolism from the dust on the piano representing the past, to Elvis's leather jumpsuit and the Red guitar he play during his comeback 1968 tour. Angelina's hairdo style that Priscilla Presley wore in the '60s was called the Bumblebee. The lyric "she was just a child" Priscilla Presley was 14 yrs old, Elvis was 24 when they met in 1959 at a party when he was serving in the Army in Germany. They were married in 1967 at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas she was 21 and he was 31yrs old. The song "Suspicious Minds" represented their relationship beginning to fall apart due to Elvis's drug addiction and numerous affairs, and their marriage divorce in1972.

She’s from Norway and they’re just on the border Road and the sun were the best at the soccer championship. In many of Angelina's covers, she will pay tribute to the artists of the songs she covers. In this one, she is extending homage to Elvis. She also does her arrangements or, at least, has very much input into the way her music is done. In this case, she departed from Elvis by slowing the tune down and singing it in a way the lyrics actually ask for. Elvis made it a virtual pop "dance" tune even though the lyrics are a sad, emotional and heartbreaking tale of an impending breakup and lost love. Angelina sings the song as it should be performed.
In this video she is dressed as Elvis was in his " '68 Comeback Special" TV program. Leather from top to bottom. Her hair is done up in a "bee hive" style that Elvis liked his wife Pricilla to wear.
The red guitar is a contemporary Hagstrom reproduction of a 1967 Viking II. Elvis had borrowed it from Al Casey, one of the session musicians of the Comeback Special band. The original guitar recently sold at auction for over $660,000.
The piano and mic are like the ones in the Sun studio in Memphis, where Elvis started his recording career. The piano player is Rob Christie, a studio exec at her label, Republic Records.
The young girl(s), Angelina's relatives, are a nod to Elvis's and Pricilla's kid, Lisa Marie. The last segment of the children shows Angelina's sister, Juliette, as a 9 year old Lisa Marie. That was how old Lisa was when her dad died.

A couple of additional symbolic Elvis Tributes in the video are that many believe the boots she wears in the opening scene are blue suede shoes and the pianist is wearing the same suit as Elvis' band in the "68 Special. At 58, she is the only artist whose covers of Elvis' I absolutely love!

Hi Schnell, first and foremost, your little one is the most important. Second AJ gave a bunch of concerts in Norway, now that she finished school. She is now a professional. She was so happy in Norway, she giggled, laughed and cried happy tears. Sarah, her mom told in an interview, I think, her album of AJ´s original songs, will come out next year. After Norway, she visits Japan, her grandad´s home country, for concerts and family.
In Norway, First she was at Alsang Pa Grensen for 2 songs, than she did her concerts in Sandefjord, Kurbadhagen, than Kongsberg and again Kurbadhagen. The organizer there asked her family back, because they sold so many tickets all around the world, they had to. You and your fam, get well, stay safe and please react to the new Angelina. Great to see you back again! I know having covid and a new family to care for plus work and life in general takes up a huge amount of time. Wait till you're parent of two with 9 grandkids along with all of the extended families. I had to retire so I could keep up with the birthdays and every known holiday.
Elvis did this song as a cover and kept it in the original upbeat style. Angelina listened to the story and arraigned the song to suit the mood as it should be. Genius! And her voice is the best it's ever been.

When I was a kid I used to be a big fan of Elvis Presley. Maybe my parents had something to do with it. This beautiful song reminds me from childhood when my dad was still alive. Angelina does what she always do. She turns everything to gold or even better.

I had commented on one of your reactions to Angelina that you pulled your hair back on your right side just like she does so I jokingly said maybe you two were related with the same last name and all. In this reaction I see you twirling your hair with the left hand. If you watch Angelina's live concerts in Norway last month you will see her do the same thing multiple times! Jordan and Jordan? Thanks for your reaction. I had the pleasure of attending one of Angelina's concerts in Norway. And WOW it was amazing. Angelina was so happy to be back on stage. The difference from a 13 yo to a 16 yo Angelina was that she communicated much more with the audience. It was wonderful and there was so much love in the air. She also sang "Suspicious Minds" here. ❤
