@@stevepowell6503I’m from the uk, I lived in Canada for two years, it was when gord passed, I’d literally only just gotten into them. But now they are one of my favourite bands, actually prefer gords solo work though.
I wish I could have been there for this. One of my favorite songs from the Hip sung from another one of my favorite bands. Thank you Eddie and Pearl Jam.
I LOVE "DAUGHTER" AWESOME TAG, TRAGICALLY HIP GORDIE DOWNIE 😢 HE WAS AN AMAZING FRONTMAN!! HE IS TRULY MISSED AND LOVED. I LOVE CANADA AND I LOVE CANADIANS 🇨🇦 BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE TO GORDIE DOWNIE!! AND THATS PEARL JAM, BEST HEARTS 💖 ALWAYS CARING FOR PASSING MUSICIANS!! BEAUTIFUL GESTURE PEARL JAM!! 😊💓🤘✌️🇨🇦
I would have given my right arm just to be there that night to hear Eddie and PJ's tribute to Gord and the Hip. If Pearl Jam ever does an all Canadian tour again after they're done with the Dark Matter tour, they have to at least do Bobcaygeon or Ahead By A Century as covers. Or Grace, Too. Anything. It once again exemplifies how Pearl Jam, like The Hip, have pure class and integrity and how they have total respect for each other.
I love Pearl Jam and I love The Tragically Hip. I bought tickets to their show in Hamilton before covid and sent them an email asking if they could do a Hip cover for us Canadians. The show was cancelled due to covid and I waited two years for the show. Finally, at the re-scheduling if the show they entered to Gord’s Secret Path music and made special mention of him and the Hip during the show. Thank you Pearl Jam. It means a lot to us coming from you. I can’t imagine me writing had anything to do with it, but it was wonderful.
Adore PJ …always remembering and remaining mindful of who and what’s important to them and in this case to many of us. I felt the same emotion at the TOR show, 2022. The place all in darkness, then a Secret Path song began to play. During the show, Ed, as he does spoke of loss and memories of Gord D., Chris C., and Ed’s own brother Chris. Very emotional for many of us. Acknowledging Gord and band 💜Jeff wearing a GFD t-shirt. That show touched me deep. I mean 32 yrs later as a PJ fan and solo! As I’ve viewed a lot of footage over the years, I finally saw, heard and felt the room when Ed spoke. The same feels when the audience joins in to sing lyrics…it’s fcking amazing🤘🏻Like a throwback to the earliest of Hip shows. It’s freaking sad to say, we’ve lost so many musicians already💔 …I’m ‘relieved’ the band is still going strong. Enjoy while they’re here and so are we🤘🏻🎶✌🏻…thanks for posting this. Clear footage!
I know I'm not the only one who wants to bubble wrap EV - SO much loss from our favs,. We were at the show with the ol'man (with a busted heel and two surgeries down) on crutches - ha - we waited 11 LONG years and were not going to miss it. Ed taking us to Bobcaygeon was very cool. Big ups and much respect to Ed Ved. - such a classy dude. Know what you mean about the crowd singing every word at both Hip & PJ shows- love it. We saw TTH 20+ times over the years and went to both of the ManMachine (two last) here in Van. Both were fantastic, yet heartbreaking. GD certainly was one of a kind. Your TO PJ show would have been a real experience I bet - Secret Path and talking Gord and CC and his bro - forget it - I would have been a mess! ✌Have a good one 🤟
I've always explained my love of The Hip to my fellow Americans as if you took the music of Pearl Jam and combined it with the lyrics and voice of REM. So glad I got to hear this!
How bobcaygeon isn’t a worldwide hit il never know, one of the best songs Iv heard. Thanks ed for that tribute to gord.
Same. I wish I would have started listening to the Hip earlier. I only heard them by watching the documentary about their last tour.

Amerigance?
Ed's paying homage to Gordie's unique freestyle mojo ... so cool!
Keep in mind Pearl Jam was performing the night of The Hips last show and acknowledged them. These guys are big fans of The Hip
This brought a tear to my eye.
Pretty cool of PJ & Eddie to do that little tribute...
❤awesome
He wove the Canadian national anthem in to Daughter - beyond cool.
I wish I could have been there for this. One of my favorite songs from the Hip sung from another one of my favorite bands. Thank you Eddie and Pearl Jam.
Damn. Got me all teary.
could've been the willie nelson, could have been the wine...

Yes it was a great tribute. But... Nobody called him Gordie. It was just Gord.
@@redspice55 MY MISTAKE SORRY, RIP GORD DOWNIE 😊💓🤘✌️
Very cool tribute. I saw a video from the night Gord passed of a Pearl Jam concert and they showed their respects to him then too.

Your effort to write them has everything to do with it. Good on ya Dougie. Thanks for sharing that.
Amazing
that was awesome. Def one of the Hips better songs, not sure why it wasn't a massive hit everywhere.

What a show. A very cool tribute.
What I love about this is he's riffing inside the song, just like Gord singing The Kinks or Bowie or whatever else was moving him at the time.
I live in bobcaygeon 😁

So glad I got to hear this!
3:53 to see the Bobcaygeon section
And now my turn for the tear 🥲
Damn thats clear me son
Goosebumps.
FANTASTIC!
Crazy moment when the better band is played as a tribute by the lesser band.
I always said they should cover a hip song… I’ll take it.
that's fucking terrible
what is wrong with you
I think he means like their rendition was terrible.
Next time keep your negativity to yourself and go scream into the void!
@@James-hn7vxbitching in UA-cam comments is kinda the definition of screaming into the void 😂 but yeah weak on his part
Ya it didn’t sound to good 🤷🏻♂️ but I love the attempt
This is really beautiful!! Thank you Eddie 🍁
