    Here are a few KEY next level tips for you to develop your digital art. As Ive been doing many recent studies of landscapes, I've come to realize that I wasted many years of my art career repeating the same mistakes. What if you could work more efficiently? You could save TONS of time by paying attention to how you are learning and how you are producing content. Avoid spending so much time repeating yourself on things like rocks and trees.

    These are amazing tutorials! It's crazy how I can be drawing away and suddenly one of your videos pops up addressing the exact issue I was just thinking through on my own. It's ZEN magic. I play these in the background while I draw to give me a little extra motivation. I'm on year 25 in the military so also catching up to start a second career full time after I retire.

    I think every artist who starts out is stuck on the „if you don’t draw every hair by hand you are no rEaL artist“ mindset, at least I can say that for myself. I always coughed me thinking, but is that real art? And YES it is! I think that is what divides hobby artists from fulltime artists. If you do it as a hobby, you have all the time to draw everything by hand but if it is your job you need to work (like in every other job) the most efficient, and that does not mean it is of lesser value or quality. Also, what people in the digital area often tend to forget, is that traditional artists also use „cheats“ to get different, faster or more steady result’s (I am looking at you, sponge, purposefully damaged brush etc)

    I draw comic book, and drawing fast with quality is very very important, be eficient is key. The first videos I saw from your channel I thought "man, that's not art", but then it came to me, "yes it is, the buyer don't want to know if you draw every grassblade or if you used a custom brush". Thank you for blowing my mind with your tutorials.

    I’ve taken a break from illustrating, drawing and whatnot because recently it’s been stressing me out a bunch. The expectation to produce something cool, the hard-work it takes to complete a piece are two things that are hard to repeatedly achieve at least in my experience. I’d love to be more consistent and stay motivated but it ain’t easy! I find I really need these breaks sometimes but can’t help feeling guilty that I’m not improving and working towards by dreams. I’m sure I’ll pick up a pen sometime soon but I need to rediscover the reason I draw first. Just wondering if anyone else gets the same thing and if it is something to be concerned about or something that just happens and that’s okay.
    P.S I love drawing... when I can! Seems to just magically happen one day but that’s not good enough for an employer!

    This was an excellent video. Coming from a traditional background in pen and ink, making illustrations... Making a component sheet is something I had never thought of until your video. It's so super stupid simple of a thing and thinking on it, I'm not a dumb person... Buts silly I never thought of that before. Thank you for the video!

    9:00 Right there! "I'm getting jobs! My students are getting jobs!" ... The problem with these purists/elitists is that they have more of a "hobby" mentality about art. And don't get me wrong! We all love art. Designing, painting and rendering. That's why we are all here. But if you want a legit career out of it, you are constrained by quality and time. And barring straight up plagiarism, you have too many tools at your disposal NOT to use them. If you've already painted something, why paint it 20 more times? Copy and paste as long as it looks right in perspective and fits the scene. You can always go over the areas quickly to dust on some surface level variations here and there. But if it turns 3 hours into 20 minutes, you are doing yourself a favor at that point.

    Hi! I've been watching you for about 2 years now, and I feel like you have taught me an indescribable amount, so thank you for that! I am in an art focused high school, finishing my last year now.
    I have been digging my claws into digital art for as long as I've been watching you, and I have been stumped on something lately. I have been improving at a steady rate recently, but I am not using Photoshop. I have reached a point where my workflow is getting hindered for not having the features that Photoshop provides, but I just cannot get myself to learn it. Every time I try to force myself to start using it for art, I just keep getting discouraged. I find it way too difficult and convoluted, also the constant crashes don't help, but anyways, I guess my question is this;
    Should I just focus on improving my skills in whatever software for now, and just learn Photoshop properly later, or should I just suck up and suffer through the first month or so of using it, and potentially hinder my progress in that time?

    • @Jadebones
      @Jadebones 2 роки тому +2

      If you know for certain that you WILL need to use the software in the future, learn it now.
      Putting it off will only build anxiety toward learning it later. Making it even more unnecessarily difficult to not only learn, but to just even approach starting that process in general.
      Learning new software is almost like gaming:
      Some aspects will be similar and feel familiar, but you still have to adjust to the different moves, abilities, button layouts, and limitations you may have within each new game....
      Don't put it off, go level up.

      I have been following your advice and creating character sheets that I draw often as background characters to use as crowd creators but for enviroment I still photobash reason why I was interested in more stylized assets for a potential spice that could come along with it
      But you are right I should slowly build up my own
