As someone who picked a Deluxe over a Twin (as a country guitarist), the Deluxe is a brilliant amp. Like any Fender amp, they’re great pedal platforms. The built in reverb and vibrato inside of them are both so vibrant and lush. It’s got the classic look. The circuit sounds phenomenal and well balanced for whatever you could want to do without needing a “gain” channel. And not to mention, it’s about 20-25 less heavy than the Twin Reverb, which comes in handy for touring/gigging musicians ;)
Yes. The rule of thumb is a killer amp will make any so-so guitar sound great. With the DRRI, make sure you either upgrade or bypass the bright cap on the reverb/trem channel. The stock one is a tone destroyer.
Just watched his vid about playing pickless. Went to church to play in worship band and tried it off and on all service. Kinda like the different sound and feel.

I got one of the Danelectro '59M NOS+ models with the faux Badass bridge recently, it's a fantastic deal for $325ish new. The pickups seem a little hotter than the vintage Silvertone I had but not overly hot, they just sound good for everything you'd use a single-coil for. It's nice to have a truss rod and some ability to intonate, too.
I have one and it’s killer. The tuners are only okay, so you do have to tune somewhat frequently, but that’s the only indication that it’s a cheaper guitar. It sounds and looks amazing
I have that guitar in CAR and it’s a serious player, not the greatest tuning stability to be frank but I think that’s more the fault of its bigsby than the design itself.

I bought a G&L Tribute Legacy (Think Stratocaster) in surf green recently from Reverb. I got mine at a steal for under $400 including shipping. If you're looking for a Fender Stratocaster, this thing turns out to be a fantastic option. Instead of two passive tone controls, these are actually a passive treble & bass controls instead. The neck is a little flatter at 14" radius, and the thing is heavy at just shy of 10 pounds. Over all though, it is a fantastic import guitar that does the "Strat thing" for not a lot of money.
Knights of the Hobby Table I picked up the matching ASAT in surf green this year as well and absolutely love it. It’s MFD pickups (P-90 ish) sound ridiculously good through my 1979 Vibro Champ and it’s become my go to guitar for months now. The quality of the bridge and tuners and overall build quality for under $450 was a knockout.
Have a tribute S-500 and absolutely love the neck on that thing. $275 is what I paid....it does need a touch of shielding work for the wiring admittedly but an easy fix.
The Epiphone 339 left me dumbfounded, an absolute steal for the price. The G&L Asat classic is worth mentioning as well, $539 new, on par with fender standard. Great sounding pickups. The j Mascis Squier Jazzmaster is another killer selection for $500 used.

I have several usa made guitars but one of my favorite guitar and made in china is my epiphone sheraton II pro. Hell of a guitar, a steal for what you got
I bought a Squier Tele Custom exactly like the one played last year. An amazing playing and sounding guitar for the money! Would the Fender version sound/play better? Probably. Enough to justify the extra $1000-1500? Not to my ears and hands!
I clicked on this for the soul fact there was a Dano shorthorn on the cover. And I was not disappointed. And Andy, please make a vid explaining ur invisible pick thing I wanna learn how.
I gravitated towards that black tele and that gretch. Just badass. I own a 66 Danelectro. Cant decide between the tele and the Gretch as my second guitar.
Gibson and Epiphone have always done it for me, and I own several, and in spite of this, my daily player is an American Strat. As much as I love Gibsons, when it comes to comfort, the Stratocaster is in a league of it's own. It's nice to play for an hour, and not have a crease in the skin of your right forearm from the guitar body.
As long as a guitar will stay in tune and intonated all that matters is how it feels in your hands and if it speaks to you. The amp makes much more of an impact. A crap amp will always sound like a crap amp.
I just sold a 1963 two pickup Silvertone/Danelectro with the 5watt tube amp case in great working order for $5000 USD. If you search you can find the originals usually under 900 bucks.
Hi Andy! Amazing playing, by the way! The theme of this video is super interesting! And you've just got the point right in the opening text. Congratulations to you and Reverb!
I would've been furious if the Epi 339 wasn't on here. Got a P90 pro model on Reverb for about $320 and it might be the best bang for bang I've ever gotten. Replaced the wiring harness and bridge and it sounds and plays absolutely brilliantly
Used guitars under $500 are plentiful and many are great. I think a big factor is if you can do your own tech work. I installed better pickups, did a nitro refinish, set up, Frey job and rewrire on many craigslist guitars that beat out off the rack USA guitars but that’s a lot of what you’re paying for. The attention to detail in higher end guitars. Most guitars are cut from the same CNC machines in USA, China Mexico etc. Great Video Andy Love the Squier VM teles
There are so many good cheaper guitars these days - I might add G&L Tribute Line - I have a wonderful MIK Fender Showmaster, and keep an eye out for older Washburns - was able to pick up a MIJ 1982 HB22 for $175! And it has almost become my main guitar. I have played MIM tele's that resonated with me more than higher end ones. It is so subjective and you do have to try them. At the lower price point you can upgrade the pickups / electronics / tuners /etc. to improve and personalize. These kinds of guitars are the best 'giggers' too, as you don't have to be so worried about them.
amazing! so glad they included a squier in there, I think us squier players are so self conscious considering the cheap rep squiers are given. I love the vintage modified series, even more than the classic vibe, and i would highly recommend a vintage modified squier for anyone looking for a unique take on fender instruments. (you gotta tune more, big whoop) totally unrelated note, Andy might be one of, if not, the best gear demonstrators out there
I own a CV Tele custom... I absolutely love it. If I had to buy another guitar it would be a SQ strat or jaguar no doubt. They even released Starcasters recently. Squiers are really nice for the price. I am also in lovr with the Streamliners :9
I got my PRS SE Standard for $350 in excellent condtion on Reverb. I saved $150 just because the guitar had been played a handful of times. If you're looking to save money on a guitar I would highly recommend looking around Reverb for a while because eventually a really good deal wil pop up!

One of the best axes I ever had was just a $400 Ibanez hollow body. Great bang for the buck
Your right hand technique is incredible. You should do a video series on it. Unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
Love my Danos, but I wish Danelectro made other colors than black for lefties.
I always though that Danelectro guitars are about 1000 $. Their guitars sounds uniquely well.
The secret is a plywood body.
Facts.
@@6stringbravo616 no. It's the pickups which are completely different from the others. Also their position is also unique
@@lgiorgos1 roger that sherlock. Tracking all.
I just sold a 1963 two pickup Silvertone/Danelectro with the 5watt tube amp case in great working order for $5000 USD. If you search you can find the originals usually under 900 bucks.
in the andy's hands even the brazilian guitar tonante will be very cool
Tonante is always cool, man
I could easily see a Memphis in his hands
@@Transcendentalx kkkkkkkjjjj ó os cara
I vote for the Danelectro. I had one a few years ago and traded it with some $ for a rickenbacker 360. Thinking about getting another one.
Hi Andy! Amazing playing, by the way! The theme of this video is super interesting! And you've just got the point right in the opening text. Congratulations to you and Reverb!
Used MIM fenders. I found a used fender esquire mim for $300. Heck of a lot of bang for the buck.
Gobi Grey he didn’t say best used guitars did he.
Well when you're Andy and run it through 3k amps of course it will sound amazing!
Thank you for bringing that up for us less experienced guitar people to understand👍🏽
Fender Deluxe Reverb is around $700 used. Fulltone OCD can be bought for $100 all day.
Great choice of inexpensive but awesome guitars and great playing!
I like the green Streamliner best of all. What a great guitar for under $500.
Got impressed by that epiphone being an owner of a Lennon casino ....just loved it ; the pick ups are good enough ?
Is Andy playing The Lovetones' “A New Low” at 2:07?
If so, I'm even more impressed than usual by his deep cuts.
Sure sounds like it.....great song :-)
I'd highly recommend a Gretsch G2622 👍
I would've been furious if the Epi 339 wasn't on here. Got a P90 pro model on Reverb for about $320 and it might be the best bang for bang I've ever gotten. Replaced the wiring harness and bridge and it sounds and plays absolutely brilliantly
I went down the 339 rabbit hole after watching this video. Crap! The Casino Coupe is 339 sized. My wallet is in serious trouble!
What's the neck like?
I'd love to find an affordable ES style with P90s and a chunky neck.
@@IvorThomas It isn't like a Les Paul level of chunk but it has a bit of heft to it. Its not a fat neck/not like a baseball bat
The Epi 339 is my main gigging guitar.
Wow that Gretsch has a solid sound and Danelectro gives you that grudge/folk sound. 👌🏽
The pickups in that Epi punch way above their weight! Impressive
squier vintage mod/classic vibe stratocasters are great
Damn I could listen to Andy play all day...
God damn that Tele is awesome
2:20 did anyone get MCR’s “Helena” or is it just me?
That Epiphone is a beautiful guitar. Something about hollow-bodies is so classy.
My dad has that squire tele and he bought it before I was even born but it sounds absolutely beautiful
amazing! so glad they included a squier in there, I think us squier players are so self conscious considering the cheap rep squiers are given. I love the vintage modified series, even more than the classic vibe, and i would highly recommend a vintage modified squier for anyone looking for a unique take on fender instruments. (you gotta tune more, big whoop)
totally unrelated note, Andy might be one of, if not, the best gear demonstrators out there
I own a CV Tele custom... I absolutely love it. If I had to buy another guitar it would be a SQ strat or jaguar no doubt. They even released Starcasters recently. Squiers are really nice for the price. I am also in lovr with the Streamliners :9
Wow that Ibanez looks stunning for the price
You can give this guy a rock and can still make it sound good
Fender MIM 52 reissue telecaster road worn model can be found for $500 and those are amazing guitars
I have that exact Gretsch Streamliner, in Torino Green. Bought when they came out last year. Plays well above its price. Great choice.
I got a Mexican tele for 500 even with shipping. Great price!
That gretch sounds amazing im getting one for sure or a duo jet sparkle jet white penguin maybe idk one of them
I own the tele in sunburst and i have to say its really amazing
I got my PRS SE Standard for $350 in excellent condtion on Reverb. I saved $150 just because the guitar had been played a handful of times. If you're looking to save money on a guitar I would highly recommend looking around Reverb for a while because eventually a really good deal wil pop up!
