HELLO mr SNAKE-Oil why ur boots dond have movement speed ? maior Fail..... if u can move out of AOE skils of enemys its 100% deff of this skill ...................... never ever have boots under 15 % try to get 30% mov speed .....
A few others to consider! 1) CC - There is slow, blind, freeze, stun, and a few other more rare/niche ones. These can be great and cheap to pickup. 2) Kill Stuff - Dead things do no damage. If you can't instantly AOE most trash mobs you'll take a lot more damage. 3) Glancing blow - A bit niche but some builds have some nice synergies. Can easily be better than armor in some builds. 4) Damage negation - The best in my opinion. I've only played marksman but some abilities give invulnerability for a duration or charge. Super powerful to just be able to stick through a spell or two from a boss and dish massive damage without having to reposition. 5) Summons - Surprised this wasn't mentioned. Having things like decoys or minions can really reduce the damage you receive, becareful as some monsters ignore these if they have "targets players" as a modifier. 6) Block on hit - not mentioned in sustain or cherry section but way more powerful than you think, especially for swarms that do low damage and BoH can even make swarms give you hp.
Quick tip for all the primalists players. Your spriggan can give you 72% crit avoidance by just having it summoned, aswell as some dodge if you are stacking attunement, pretty dang nice untill you get blessings, especially if you are playing hardcore. The spriggan healing aura also heals quite a bit
Thanks for this video! I was thinking that Endurance was more of an “extra” defensive layer. Thinking about it as more of a central one has made rethink my approach to my current build. I also realize I don’t have a lot of extra health on my fear, so I’ll probably work on that. I’ve been having trouble simply surviving in empowered monoliths, so this video came at an opportune time.
My sustain on my paladin comes from regen and direct heal from smiting Javelin. Can bring be from a 90% of hp pool hit to full in like 2 casts. Also heals my manifest armor to keep it in the fight. I have looked for throw leech or (usable) fire/elemental leech to match my attacks but haven't found anything. I am looking to build very tanky build as I am now further than I have been before and now fighting bosses blind. I will need room for learning mistakes so I dont lose that all important 'deathless' tag.
I have endurance question: Let's say you have 1k life, 50% endurance, and 500 endurance threshold. If you're in full life and receive 1k damage, will you receive -750 life or -1k life (because your life is not below 50%)?
Question - does going over Crit Strike Avoidance help negate EmpMono modifiers that make the mobs crit harder? Or is 100% just that - can't be critted? Curious if it works like elem pen/armor shred, where the mobs can go through you defensives easier.
I think with launch around the corner now would be a good time to go into defenses 102. Things like Crit dmg reductions, glancing blows, less multipliers like Aspect of Boar in Primalist or Dancing Blades arena, etc. And maybe some good numbers to strive for as far as LETools ehp calcs. Most of the builds I've theorycrafted lately are around 10-12k ehp and I have no idea if that is good or not. PS Is 4-6k life actually possible while still getting decent dps? I'm usually in the 2-2.5k range lol
Great video, thanks for the info(all of your videos on LE have really helped me)! I do have a quick question - as far as working towards each of these things, do you recommend trying to get each cap in order that you listed them? For example do you recommend in early end game that I go for health first, then cap resistances, etc or is it more just a - do what feels right at the time?
lol i love your vids and you come off extremely knowledgeable and you are! but that 70% max resistance thing is crazy considering the amount of time you have played this game hahah :P I of course say this with luv.
So I have some comments and/or possible concerns. So on my Necro I have all resis at 75% and 15% from armor on top of that, so in theory I should only be taking 10% damage from physical and like 15% from any magic source yet that number is apparently enough to 1 shot me, like I might be the crazy one here but if 15% damage from an attack is between 1,500-2,000 damage that means a boss is hitting for like 10k-15k on an attack from a non-empowered mono...does that not seem WAY too over tuned or is it just me? Also if you have pure survivability on your gear and most of your passive points are in survival as well, do your minions do enough damage? I feel like they would be wailing on a boss for 10-20mins before it finally dies, or is there something I'm missing? Also also you are at 97 doing empowered mono's, I am assuming, with 2k health and most resis not maxed, how are you surviving? Is it purely all in crit avoidance? I appreciate the videos they have been very helpful and I have enjoyed playing this game (at like 200 hours) but I am so confused by the way this game operates. I feel like they need to have a nerf patch on boss damage and one-shot mechanics so every class doesn't need to hard build defense and can have more fun with build diversity.
I'm running your fire necro, with the recommended staff and gloves but no Will (i.e. one golem). Heorot is kicking my butt due to him leaving me in the blizzard (I'm 85, he's 90). Let's see if you can save me by the time I finish watching this ...
i had the same problem for a bit. I am running the same build but was at 83 when i fought him. I went back and put about 300 more hp on my toon which helped alot. The other change i did was watching him and waiting for the dash to make sure i had TP up for when he would. When he says something about this is a charity or whatever, stand back for the first blast then just walk right under him for the next 2. You should be able to avoid all his damage from that. Hope this helps, and good luck!
I believe its cause reduced damage shows up sooner then avoidance when leveling/story. One big probably with games like this is there isn't much of a reason to play the story/campaign except once. Then you power level everything else and have dead stats.
🤢🤮switch out minion damage..... MINION DAMAGE!🤮🤢 BLASPHEMER! GUARDS SEIZE HIM! you forgot the most important core defense mechanic. army of minions to body block! lol im looking over my golems shoulder calling orobybus a bitch and hiding!

Good points. #6 u meant to say life on hit, not block on hit.
heheh... the classic "You just kill them before they kill you" scenario 🙂
Upvoted for this man's unrelenting dedication, thank you for all your hard work!
I do love that while there is a mechanic that we all need to be aware of, almost every building is going to do it differently. That's awesome!!

Hey ho, really enjoyed the video but you forgot an important layer: "reduced damaged over time taken", which will safe our arses in higher corruptions
There are also some gear that gives you straight dmg mitigation. Like "-15% dmg taken when using a 2-hander".
New player here, this and the offense guide were really helpful for plugging the holes in my build. Thanks!
Thanks, for this entire series. Very helpful.

Today is the day indeed. Great video, learned a lot, thank you!

Appreciating your informative videos! Thanks
Excellent video. Sums defenses up nicely!
for some reason, staying alive song from The Bee Gees popped into my head at the start. lol

Great video deserves more views
Oh ok. So life is the most important! Gotcha!
Thanks so much for the video! they are awesome! Btw got a video of your necro build? Cheers!

Unrelated question: How did you make your minions become that different from normal ? In the shop there is no minions appearance changers.
Great info.. Thanks!

Lmao I noticed that every 1 of his videos and intros he keeps raising and lowering his microphone it's hilarious
Very informative 👌
if i run a map with like "enemies have 125% extra critical chance x2" am I still crit immune with 100% crit avoidance?
Still immune, Unless the enemies apply Critical strike vunerability
base life - the only form of life a nerd gets in his life
I just wish getting gear was easier. It feels like just hoping for a break 😢
check out the crafting guides, this game has an awesome crafting system that helps a lot with getting the right gear
Nice hoodie 🤘🍀

@@4thshot595 Thanks. I'll try building up my life a bit more.
As a new player, I got the basics but you lost me about blessing / monolith. Great video though.
Nice
Ahuuu💪
This is a trap Aaron dies alot don't let him fool you!
Great video ! This should help everyone die a lot less :p
Okay
If most characters are maxing out crit strike avoidance, why does reduced damage from crits exist as a stat?

Why should we eat Oranges when Apples are available?
