Šibenik & The Krka Waterfalls: The Best of Croatia's Dalmatian Coast

- Šibenik is a true hidden gem in European tourism. While tourists flock to cities like Dubrovnik and Split many miss out on this wonderful Croatian town. Šibenik has an incredible cathedral (St. James) with a UNESCO World Heritage baptistry in it. The Šibenik City Museum is one of my favorite small town city museums in the world, and Šibenik is known as the children's city of Croatia. Also, just outside Šibenik are the Krka Waterfalls and the Krka National Park. A must see for nature lovers heading to Croatia.

The Šibebik Children's Festival dates back to the 1970s and is legendary
This is my town! Thank you so much for saying such nice things about it! Greetings from Šibenik! 😊
You have a terrific town. We loved it.
Would Croatian welcome people from Hong Kong?
@@wilsontsang2005 of course we would! We get so many tourists from Asia, everyone is welcome! 🙂
My brother and I took a guided day trip to Krka and Šibenik last summer. Easily one of my favorite days of that vacation. The view from the top of St. Michael's Fortress overlooking the city and the bay are amazing.
Wish I would have stopped here and seen this city when I visited Croatia this time last year! An absolutely gorgeous country when it is nice and sunny out, and very cool history. Would gladly go back again some day and spend more time on the Adriatic and visiting the islands and more small towns like this.
Gorgeous architecture. I'd love to visit.
No one does travel like you guys.
Sibenik is stunning. Another georgous town to visit just down the coast is Primosten, sort of a miniature version of Rovinj.
I was going to go here this summer 🥺
Mark...I had read tat beautiful sunset is at Zadar n its true..as I had witnessed last year..
N the sound from the sea organ is cool..Not to miss Plitvice n Krka in Zadar !!
Wolter - I would say the style of St. James Cathedral is decidedly Romanesque - which contains elements of Gothic design. Renaissance...ahhhh - No. One cannot escape the legacy of Rome throughout the entire Mediterranean, and Beyond!
Lovely place!
I stayed here for two nights, well worth it.
Croatia was my travel destination this year! Unfortunately flight for September was cancelled 😞 For now will watch your video and take it all in!
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope we can give you some inspiration for when you go next year!
Sorry to hear that! Stay safe and God willing this will pass sooner than later! Croatia won’t go anywhere in the meantime 👍🏼
Looks so beautiful!
Its gorgeous
The Dalmatian coast has a lot of cool spots!
It really is great
Wow, this is nice! I've been up and down the coast (Rovinj, Zadar, Split and the islands, Dubrovnik etc), but I just went right past this place. The waterfalls are definitely on my to-see-list now.
That looks like a kayakers dream!!
It is gorgeous but can't kayak the falls :)
Great report, tnx.
Thank you
Two in a day.. spoiling us! 😂 again, very helpful as we’re looking at a med cruise at the moment and are looking at ones with different ports. Hope you are the whole Wolters family are well 👍
I'm glad I could show you some new spots. I'm trying to put out a bunch of nice smaller destinations for the next few weeks just trying to give people new possible destinations.
The Visovac Island Monastery is great to check out in Krka park as well. The Roški waterfalls at the top of the park have little restaurants at the site of old water wheel powered flour mills and you can dine with your feet in the running water to help beat the heat. From the Roški falls there is a boat once a day at noon that will take you up the Krka river to Krka Monastery and your guide will give you a tour of the catacombs.
Too bad you had that bird upstaging you, but that was one beautiful waterfall. :)

Now say it fast!
Can you do a review of Istra? Thanks
We have one from Rovinj but not the whole area
We went to the Krka falls three years ago and last year again (Both times in August or September. We tryed to give them a second chance) . The prizes are high and the place is completely overpopulated. First time we were disappointed, second time it felt even worse to be robbed again. Another day we had a nice dinner at a Konoba and payed not even 50% of the ticket prize. Don't get disappointed. If you go to Croatia in Summer and if you are not a fan of feeling like canned fish, skip it. It's not worth it. Sibenik on the other side is really worth a visit.
What the hell are you talking about?
Some scenes of Game of thrones were shoot there
Do people swim at the Krka Waterfalls?.
At the very end there were people swimming. But higher up it is not allowed
@@ProfessorWolters would it be safe to swim at the end?.
@@cianomalley7049 yep,but its slippery though..close to the walking bridge u can !!
Its safe to swim there, there are a few lifeguards who keep an eye on everything. And you're not allowed to come to close to the water falls. Only up to 10/15 meters or so.
But it's really nice!! (And freezing cold water ofcourse haha)
@@cianomalley7049 there were quite a few families swimming at the end of the falls, like in the last pool
