I'll try this tomorrow! I'm doing well so far in Halo: Infinite, but I really should use all 4 of those paddles. Although I am more used to the legacy settings since it's more natural for my fingers to use LT to throw grenades and to use my zoom on the right stick. I always ran with that. Other than that, thanks for the tip. I love my Series 2 controller.

At first I wanted to take it back, it felt uncomfortable and heavy and I was always pressing the paddles accidentally, Took me all day of playing but after that I was comfortable with it and I loved it
I'd suggest mapping XYAB to the directional pad halowise (vice versa) and then mapping those directional keys to the bumpers in the app. Since Halo is mostly about left stick you can easily integrate those buttons naturally.
Never knew how to get the correct sensitivity on my sticks until I watched this. I tweaked it to match the recommended but using the same rule of thumb you used. And my lawd. I feel like the flash.😂

Why don’t you use Radial considering radial makes movement/aiming speed for horizontal/vertical evenly. Most importantly Radial stays neutral to whatever your in game sensitivity settings are. The other 2 calculations aren’t neutral meaning whatever your sensitivity settings are in game these calculations raise them. With Radial it stays neutral. -Example whether your moving left right or forward back the speed will be equal. Doesn’t True diagonals make the speed difference from vertical and horizontal?
Great video, very helpful! This is just preference, but I like to set my thumbsticks to the farthest clockwise setting (most resistance) idk it just feels better to me. One question though... did you leave the max input threshold for the look thumbstick at zero?
I've been holding off for 2 in half years trying to stay away from these controller but once my razer wolverine ultimate went out I couldn't get a good one to replace it. V2 chroma, thrustmaster, turtle beach, vetrix gambit, and now I have elite 2. What's so elite about it. The tension on joy stick is crap. My thumb hurts from the strain of using my own thumb muscles as a tensioner. I've tried numerous settings and yours. I was Murdering people's souls with the turtle beach rekon on halo infinite. I get elite 2 and I'm lucky to get 3 or 5 kills a game. I use the tension rings by kontrol freak. One doesn't do the trick I have to put medium and soft together with high sense to make it feel remotely good. Just doesn't seem that responsive in regards to other buttons. R.I.P. wolverine ultimate. This controller I do not recommend.
I have had two elite controllers and one elite 2 controller and on every single one of them, the right bumper quit working. (Probably form playing to many Souls games and Sekiro) I use the top two paddles as LB and RB for every game I play because of the way the tension on the bumpers works. I hoped they would fix that with the Elite 2 but they did not.
So this video is awesome! I have slightly different move stick dead zones but copied your look dead zones and elite curve settings. I’m also using a tall right galaxy kontrolfreek thumb stick. Appreciate the content!
8:00 shows the paddles replicating the ABXY buttons - can these all be set to individual control inputs? My son had a series 1 controller and reckons he was able to move settings around, but after getting a series 2 controller, the paddles simply activate ABXY. So he can't remap ABXY to have seperate inputs to the paddles. What are we doing wrong?
Hey there if you manage to see this comment I was wondering if you could explain how much the curve adjustment in the elite series 2 (accessories app) correlates/impacts your max movement/look threshold within the game? For example should I have my curve adjustment at the lowest slider (0) if my max move input threshold setting on the game is also 0? Hope that makes sense
bottom left on the graph represents the stick at center and top right is stick at max value. If you drop your max threshold AND flatten your curve your sticks will feel more 'doughy' at inner and mid stick when compared to a default linear curve. This is optimal for mid ranged BR battles where you need to aim more with your strafe and want to minimize your overaim on right stick. I recommend smooth or delayed curves at 4.5 sens as these feel most like OG halo compared to the settings showcased in the video. Delayed is on the 'doughier' side and 'smooth' is a bit more moderate. The trick is to make your inner and mid stick smooth and slower while setting up your absolute outter stick edge to be high enough to turn on an enemy at your back or deal with close quarter melee scenarios.
@@TheNextGenNow it's funny I have tried the 700 gen2s and I have tried the ss primes and im on the 9x now but I still can't hear foot steps mabey its the game I'm playing but I can't even track where bullets are coming from and if I throw a grenade to my left and look forward it equals the same volume each side of my headsets and I have dabbeld with the setting and even reset them and double checked😅😅 to be fair I just started useing xbox but damm I never had this much trouble with ps
Maybe give some other games a go and see how they sound. The directional audio in Halo Infinite seems okay to me but footsteps are definitely very quiet. I have had some players get right up behind me and I haven't heard them (and they weren't invisible).
Great video! I just received my Elite Series 2 controller yesterday. I noticed that the A button is at times unresponsive. Not sure if the controller needs to break in. Anyone else have that issue? I ordered another one and plan to return my bad controller.
The buttons to which the paddles are mapped can be seen in the video when I am in the Xbox Accessories App. Each paddle is labelled with the corresponding button.

I only have the controller since a day so it takes some time getting used to it. I also thought first maybe it would make sense to have AB on the left and XY on the right side, but I like the standard configuration better. However I think most important is to settle for a configuration and then stick to it so you can learn it
With the trigger stops set so shallow, do the Plasma Pistol and Ravager charged shots work for you? They don't for me on a PowerA Fusion Pro 2 controller. Had to change the right trigger stop to default.
Anyone else having issues with right thumb stick? Not sure what I've done but it's so sensitive, I've turned my in game sens down by 3 points and it's still more sensitive that I've ever used.. any help?
I can't remember if it's True Diagonals or Axis Independent but whichever one of those that imitates the Elite 1/base Xbox controller is by far the most important setting IMO. Radial being the default gimps so many unknowing Series 2 users by forcing them to use a higher sensitivity than necessary just to compensate limitations of the Radial setting. You have to use a higher sensitivity just to be able to turn at the speed of an otherwise lower sensitivity. I'm gonna assume True Diagonals is the correct option going by the video. I'm completely out of my depth with it all but I recall reading that Radial is only suitable if you're using a custom aim curve. I played for a couple of years using Radial, thinking my age was getting the better of me. Reminded me of using a monitor with more input lag than I realised. That was a good few years of poor game performance too lol

The elite series 1 had radial and axial independent The latter is the default on all controllers exept elite serie 2 wixh uses radial standard And introsuced true diagonals
wait so the paddles replace abxy you cant assign them to other commands? like when you plug it in does infinite recognize 4 extra buttons or do you just use software to program the paddles to already existing buttons giving it a redundancy.
Honestly the best commands to map are ping, equipment, and slide/crouch and use bumper jumper so you don't have to use ABXY much beside reload and weapon swap. All personal preference though. Equipment on paddle makes advanced grapple moves super easy and ping helps when you don't know callouts on the map you're playing.

I’m question why you would also change the Axiel dead-zones. I looked up similar UA-cam videos and one UA-cam suggested leaving (max input threshold) & (Axial dead-zones) at zero and just change center dead-zones similar to the way you have shown.
Center and Axial work together to provide the overall deadzone. I was able to test 3 controllers (not all Elites) and I needed to raise Axial above 0 on them all to completely eliminate drift. Also, these are very small amounts of drift that Halo Infinite lets us see, but to me in testing it felt more natural in-game to have both values the same.
If you are testing it in Halo Infinite with all drift settings at 0 I wouldn't worry about that. I tried a number of different controllers and they all drift a little at 0. However if it has bad drift in all games that's a different story.
Was watching this whilst I opened my new elite 2 just now….I’ve been using the controller that came with my series x last year. I feel so lost on what even these ingame/out game settings do😆 I did change the vertical & horizontal values in game but anything else I’m completely lost. Within the controller app, is is useful to use the setting where it’ll predict where you will move the thumb stick? S I can’t imagine not using the face buttons but the paddles instead….I have a feeling the new controller will end up on eBay 🤣 I tend to play BTB & some arena…ranked is to sweaty for me but in the other modes I’m usually close to the top if not at the top. Though my stats say my accuracy is 38% but in k/d is 2.2…. On the 3 move thumb stick settings I have to have them all at 0, the first of the 3 settings even at 0.5 o get drift, assume that’s due to it being a new controller ?
@@TheNextGenNow thank you! My muscle memory wants to press A/B I have A on the right paddle & crouch on the left. Both top paddles, I’ll stick with two for now while I get use to it. See the benefit of using the paddles but I find it really awkward firing & having having to press the paddle to jump

I've had four elite 2 controllers become unusable due to bumpers becoming very unresponsive and sticks drifting. Great controller for the month or so that it is functional. Shame that the stock xbox controllers seem to be of much better quality. True diagonals is a nice and snappy feeling curve though. Anyone with an elite controller miraculously still working should try true diagonals. Very snappy feeling.
I have the accidental dmg protection plan which was only for an extra $20 and since the controller was discounted by $40 already it was as if the protection was free. So for 3 years I’m good. Should have done the same my dude 🤷🏻♂️

@@thebeast8429 You need to open the controller up first . Once you do that you remove this little plastic piece that is in between each bumper ( very easy ) , tweezers work best but you can use anything with a thin fine point to remove them . The plastic pieces are in the shape of a lower case " n " . After you do that you will need q tips and 90 % alcohol . i used 70 % and it worked but 90 % is recommended . Now take the q tips and dip them in alcohol , dab them on a paper towel so they are not dripping wet but are damp . Apply the q tips in and around the area that held the plastic " n " shaped pieces . Do this multiple times to ensure it is clean . after 3 to 5 times with the q tips on each bumper you should be good to go. Note : May take playing with the controller for a minute or 2 before you feel it fixed . helps to work out the debris . i will link you a video that shows step by step in case you have never opened a controller but it is pretty simple once you have done it
I can't play with the short or medium draw triggers. Too uncomfortable for my hands. I feel my right hand holds the controller more ergonomically when I have the trigger set to full distance. Your mileage may vary, but I'm just not willing to deal with wrist pain for an extra milisec trigger. Thank you for this guide though. I'm mostly MKB, but I want to play with controller too. I'm just so terrible. I'll give these a try tonight.
no sense in doing hair triggers in halo. max ROF for precision weapons like BR, pistol, and bandit are easily achievable without it. They're good for COD but not in halo
6:30. Wow. Why is there so much Stick Drift in a brand New Elite Series 2.? Necessitating such a large "Dead Zone".! I'm actually pretty sure it's the Carrying Case. The 1st Elite Controller Carrying Case. Had the exact same problem. And therefore the exact same issue with "Stick Drift" in the 1st Elite Controller. And they still haven't fixed it. That Mesh Net on the inside of the fold open door of both version of the Elite Controller Carrying Cases. When the door to the Elite Series 2 controller Carrying Case is "Closed". The "Mesh Net presses down on the Analog Sticks". Pushing the Analog Sticks "Off Center". In a mostly downward direction. And if there's anything stored within the Mesh Net. The orientation of the Analog Sticks are totally random. Based off of what your storing and the orientation in which it is stored. And then It just Sit there Like That for who knows how long.! Being put into different temperatures heated and cooled. Sitting in the same " Off-Center Position".! That is how you get "Stick Drift" in a brand new Elite Series Controller.! Because when they're tested off the assembly line. They are well within tolerance. Yet every Elite Controller I've possessed or owned. Has required a large dead zone. So that was your first mistake. Getting an Elite Controller. I would recommend looking into a 3rd party Pro Controller at the same price point. Which I can't almost guarantee will have zero Stick Drift. And therefore zero Dead Zone. There are other mistakes in your preparations. But that's the main one. Merry Christmas.! 🎄
Wrong...I have the look sense at its highest which even then it's a little slow for me, because I play games like rainbow six siege and COD if an use to medium to high sense and halo also offers crazy aim assist which makes it easy to get kills

There is no such thing as “too high sensitivity in halo” 10-10 feels like 5-5 in CoD (max sense in CoD is 20-20, while I’m using 14-13).

Great settings. I just changed the low tension to medium tension which feels better to me. The lowest tension feels too loose like iceskating 😂

What headset do u use? I have the 9x from steel and I don't hear which way the foot steps are coming from 😒
I am just using some standard headphones but the problem probably isn't your headset - I find footsteps are really quiet in Halo Infinite...

Turn on compressed mode in the audio section in settings you’ll hear footsteps a lot clearer
Dynamic mode keeps the footsteps really quiet

I've not had that problem but have seen it on other manufacturers controllers. If it's not working properly best to return it as you are doing.

I use recon and I think I really suffer for it, but I have used it since halo 3
missing out on bumper jumper. Worth the switch. Took about 2 weeks to get used to it when i switched to it in H3 from the defaults used in H1 and H2.

Can you make one for vehicles?
Anyone else having issues with right thumb stick? Not sure what I've done but it's so sensitive, I've turned my in game sens down by 3 points and it's still more sensitive that I've ever used.. any help?

I can't remember if it's True Diagonals or Axis Independent but whichever one of those that imitates the Elite 1/base Xbox controller is by far the most important setting IMO. Radial being the default gimps so many unknowing Series 2 users by forcing them to use a higher sensitivity than necessary just to compensate limitations of the Radial setting. You have to use a higher sensitivity just to be able to turn at the speed of an otherwise lower sensitivity.
I'm gonna assume True Diagonals is the correct option going by the video.
I'm completely out of my depth with it all but I recall reading that Radial is only suitable if you're using a custom aim curve.
I played for a couple of years using Radial, thinking my age was getting the better of me.
Reminded me of using a monitor with more input lag than I realised. That was a good few years of poor game performance too lol

@@thebeast8429 My elite 2 broke and i replaced it with an elite 1 as it was cheap, otherwise I'd have checked before commenting. Easy to figure out if you have a reg xbox one controller to compare with
The elite series 1 had radial and axial independent
The latter is the default on all controllers exept elite serie 2 wixh uses radial standard
And introsuced true diagonals

I'd try the Radial option on Series 1.

Have the settings assigned to one profile. Then have another profile with regular settings.
Go to accessories on xbox and create a profile there

Why does my xbox accessories app not have most of these settings? It only has button config. Elite Series 2

Vibration is a good way of knowing when you’re being shot! I had to turn mine on again cause I started dying more without it

wait so the paddles replace abxy you cant assign them to other commands? like when you plug it in does infinite recognize 4 extra buttons or do you just use software to program the paddles to already existing buttons giving it a redundancy.
Honestly the best commands to map are ping, equipment, and slide/crouch and use bumper jumper so you don't have to use ABXY much beside reload and weapon swap. All personal preference though. Equipment on paddle makes advanced grapple moves super easy and ping helps when you don't know callouts on the map you're playing.

Question for ya, on your elite controller, with deadzones set to 0...you seeing drift?
Got my elite controller just 2 days ago, found at 0 I got drift on both movement and aim, 2.5 for mine worked without any drift
I’m question why you would also change the Axiel dead-zones. I looked up similar UA-cam videos and one UA-cam suggested leaving (max input threshold) & (Axial dead-zones) at zero and just change center dead-zones similar to the way you have shown.
Center and Axial work together to provide the overall deadzone. I was able to test 3 controllers (not all Elites) and I needed to raise Axial above 0 on them all to completely eliminate drift. Also, these are very small amounts of drift that Halo Infinite lets us see, but to me in testing it felt more natural in-game to have both values the same.

I have my dead zones at max and still have look stick drift. 😭😭😭 but luckily my series Elite 2 comes in on Friday.

If you are testing it in Halo Infinite with all drift settings at 0 I wouldn't worry about that. I tried a number of different controllers and they all drift a little at 0. However if it has bad drift in all games that's a different story.

Was watching this whilst I opened my new elite 2 just now….I’ve been using the controller that came with my series x last year.
I feel so lost on what even these ingame/out game settings do😆 I did change the vertical & horizontal values in game but anything else I’m completely lost.
Within the controller app, is is useful to use the setting where it’ll predict where you will move the thumb stick? S

I tend to play BTB & some arena…ranked is to sweaty for me but in the other modes I’m usually close to the top if not at the top. Though my stats say my accuracy is 38% but in k/d is 2.2….
On the 3 move thumb stick settings I have to have them all at 0, the first of the 3 settings even at 0.5 o get drift, assume that’s due to it being a new controller ?
I'd expect the majority of controllers to get some drift if you have all the settings at 0 so don't worry about that.

I have A on the right paddle & crouch on the left. Both top paddles, I’ll stick with two for now while I get use to it. See the benefit of using the paddles but I find it really awkward firing & having having to press the paddle to jump

I've had four elite 2 controllers become unusable due to bumpers becoming very unresponsive and sticks drifting. Great controller for the month or so that it is functional. Shame that the stock xbox controllers seem to be of much better quality. True diagonals is a nice and snappy feeling curve though. Anyone with an elite controller miraculously still working should try true diagonals. Very snappy feeling.
I have the accidental dmg protection plan which was only for an extra $20 and since the controller was discounted by $40 already it was as if the protection was free. So for 3 years I’m good. Should have done the same my dude 🤷🏻♂️

i just fixed my bumpers pretty easy for the series 2 , works like new now

@@thebeast8429 You need to open the controller up first . Once you do that you remove this little plastic piece that is in between each bumper ( very easy ) , tweezers work best but you can use anything with a thin fine point to remove them . The plastic pieces are in the shape of a lower case " n " . After you do that you will need q tips and 90 % alcohol . i used 70 % and it worked but 90 % is recommended . Now take the q tips and dip them in alcohol , dab them on a paper towel so they are not dripping wet but are damp . Apply the q tips in and around the area that held the plastic " n " shaped pieces . Do this multiple times to ensure it is clean . after 3 to 5 times with the q tips on each bumper you should be good to go.
Note : May take playing with the controller for a minute or 2 before you feel it fixed . helps to work out the debris . i will link you a video that shows step by step in case you have never opened a controller but it is pretty simple once you have done it
I can't play with the short or medium draw triggers. Too uncomfortable for my hands. I feel my right hand holds the controller more ergonomically when I have the trigger set to full distance. Your mileage may vary, but I'm just not willing to deal with wrist pain for an extra milisec trigger.

no sense in doing hair triggers in halo. max ROF for precision weapons like BR, pistol, and bandit are easily achievable without it. They're good for COD but not in halo
6:30. Wow. Why is there so much Stick Drift in a brand New Elite Series 2.? Necessitating such a large "Dead Zone".!
I'm actually pretty sure it's the Carrying Case. The 1st Elite Controller Carrying Case. Had the exact same problem. And therefore the exact same issue with "Stick Drift" in the 1st Elite Controller.
And they still haven't fixed it. That Mesh Net on the inside of the fold open door of both version of the Elite Controller Carrying Cases.
When the door to the Elite Series 2 controller Carrying Case is "Closed". The "Mesh Net presses down on the Analog Sticks".
Pushing the Analog Sticks "Off Center". In a mostly downward direction. And if there's anything stored within the Mesh Net. The orientation of the Analog Sticks are totally random. Based off of what your storing and the orientation in which it is stored.
And then It just Sit there Like That for who knows how long.! Being put into different temperatures heated and cooled. Sitting in the same " Off-Center Position".!
That is how you get "Stick Drift" in a brand new Elite Series Controller.!
Because when they're tested off the assembly line. They are well within tolerance. Yet every Elite Controller I've possessed or owned. Has required a large dead zone.
So that was your first mistake. Getting an Elite Controller. I would recommend looking into a 3rd party Pro Controller at the same price point. Which I can't almost guarantee will have zero Stick Drift. And therefore zero Dead Zone.
There are other mistakes in your preparations. But that's the main one.

Wrong...I have the look sense at its highest which even then it's a little slow for me, because I play games like rainbow six siege and COD if an use to medium to high sense and halo also offers crazy aim assist which makes it easy to get kills
