All the zones that repeat were like that green hill(although it's sonic 1 green hill zone), chemical plant and oil fields. The first 50% of act 1 is a carbon copy of the original and the second half is different, but similar in tone to the otiginal. Act 2 is just a completely new take on it. They left out my favorite zone from sonic 2, metropolis zone, would loved to see what they'd do with that.
@@jadem3111I know, it’s because of the whole obstacles in general, sonic 2 was mainly supposed to fix the problems that sonic 1 had, and the main part was all the obstacles, however metropolis still has those robotic obstacles which can annoy the player and ofc we can’t talk about the 3rd act. That’s when people got truly pissed off about the whole level in general
That would never happen in genesis sonic 2 unless the entire level was rendered at once. Once your in a certain range it starts it's pattern, and tested for the run.
Wow I can't believe that world's favorite game "Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine" has been updated in the final boss of chemical plant. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!!!!!!!!
Not Sure if anyone is gonna read, or even agree with me on this, but I can see alot of complaints especially for Moments 1:30 and 2:30. I try to make it short in case anyone will read my explanation to these and wants to complain to me that I'm wrong: 2:30 The easier one. It's called Beginners Trap. I am pretty sure after several Tests that moving objects are not on a global Timer but first move when they appear on screen (Further explanation on 1:30 later). That is made to punish the player for simply running and not trying to avoid danger. Something you would notice more likely in Modern Sonic Games since it's easier to implement. The players just don't see it coming if they keep boosting. But in Classinc Games it's harder, which is why there are not too many Beginners Traps. For most of them you have to know they are coming. But they are usually not too harsh and you just lose momentum or get damaged as you see at 2:30. Obviously that was Tails his fault in that case, but it most likely happened to others as well. Those traps are very common in Lava Reef Act 1 where some of the Lava is perfectly placed to hit to if you move with a normal speed. Like avoiding an obstacle and keep going just so it can hit you 3 seconds later. A way to teach the player to play careful, learn and also strengthen the reflexes a little. That's where the Replay Value comes into play and you play Levels over and over again until you know how to react. There are probably way more of those perfectly placed, but because the Levels are so big and everyone can take different routes, most of them are not too well known 1:30 That place tho is a bit of Bullshit. But I would't say it was planned. If I would have to guess, they were planning to push Sonic down if you run up to there while simply holding right, so that it would just be harder to get up, but realised that it could be a bit too hard from that far down if you don't know exactly what you are doing. As I said before the objects don't seem to move on a global timer, so they decided to put the Blocks a little lower to simply stop the player instead of pushing him down, which actually works with normal speed most of the time. But there is a faster way to move. If you hold down on slopes and roll the whole way like in the Video, you gain much more speed, and since the Blocks first start moving when they are on the Screen, you arrive too early and get squashed instead of simply stopped. Accidentally perfectly timed. Maybe not Playtested enough. In older games like Raymann 1 that was an issue as well. There was one Jump that had to be Perfectly executed but was REQUIRED to reach a Cage. They probably tested it once, luckily got it and moved on not realizing how hard it really was. So it is likely, that this happened here as well and no one got there with full rolling speed. So not too unfair, just not well planned. And as far as I know the only real problem in this game. the rest is fine. Well that was longer than I planned... If you read till down here: Fist Bump!
Brings back memories from Sonic 2. I’m happy they remixed it but kept the original theme and song but the song was a bit different. #Bringsbackmemories
The green goop hyper bounce sound was reused from sonic CD. In the wacky workbench zone the floors made you bounce really high up (like the green goop) and had the same sound. Nice callback.
I would've loved to have been the musician who remixed all the original songs for this version. Chemical Plant Zone is one of if not THE greatest level song in gaming history
I know you were focusing on a short video to a complete playthrough but not going into the bonus stage at the 50ring level. VERY cool incorporating Robotniks magic bean matching game from the genesis sega days. I played the Sonic mega collection combo game on the Nintendo game cube.
I wasn't expecting to see the boss fight being literally Mean Beans Machine, haha. Robotnik probably didn't expect to be beaten by Sonic when using the smarts.
Whaou ! The quality of your videos is perfect ! :-) I'm not from the FBI, but do you think you can answer some of my questions please ? :-P - What graphic card do you have ? - What settings did you use in the game ? (None or Clean filter ?) - With what software do you capture videos of your games ? With which color space (YUV 4:2:0 or RGB) ? - With what method do you encode your videos ? Sorry for all my questions, but really the quality of your videos are great ! ;-) Thanks for your answer !
For me the camera always moves down when I’m on the second part with the floating blocks so I have no idea when the block ahead has actually moved so I end up dying over and over again

I know
Those parts were annoying in the original zone, but their even more annoying here. Definitely needed more playtesting.
It's the reason that I am never able to beat Sonic 2. I either keep falling off and drowning or I get crushed lmao.
I got crushed in my foot and then I died
That and the part where the water rises are the reasons why I never made it past this zone in Sonic 2 as a kid
I like how act 1 was the standard old stuff and then it thrusts you into act 2 with the gels and such with a new remix of chemicals plant.

You haven't played Sonic 2.
@@Emu_505 lol I was just thinking this. Its legit the same with maybe slightly increased difficulty (timing and spacing)

I never thought i would play tetris against eggman.
This whole game is "I guess this is the right way"
The intro of Sonic shaking off the chemical drop... I'm dying!!! - That was fucking adorable
I love how they remixed the classic theme in this game
A 2006 Microsoft Train Simulator Trains Vs. Cars video from the UA-camr Ronthecyborg introduced me to this.
That part at 1:49 is cheap as hell and much easier in the original Sonic 2. What the hell were they thinking?
I know right, like WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU MAKE IT HARDER
It's the second zone, you really want them to make it harder?
the death yeah i don't remember ever dieing from that just on it from drowning in sonic 2
Puyo Puyo at the boss battle!
