I'm from Sierra Leone, West Africa. How can you eat food without pepper? That Garie we call it "Acheke" in Sierra Leone when mayonnaise, spaghetti, ketchup, lettuce, onions, peppers stew, and fishes are put over it. We can eat spaghetti, ketchup, mayonnaise, fishes, fry plantain, and put peppers stew over the beans as well. But we don't mix Garie and beans together. These are the two food I will like to eat whenever I go back to Africa from the US. For Sierra Leone, rice's what we have for breakfast since it is our stable food. But we also have bulk of people who drink tea for breakfast as well. West Africans are people with hospitality, receptive, and accommodating. Thanks Wode Maya for taking good care of her. You have taken good care of her than she did when you visited her.
Sallieu Munu acheke is also a dish in the south western part of Ghana usually eaten by the Nzemas eaten minus the ketchup and mayonnaise but with avocado.

I was born in the Caribbean, and now living In New York, and I really find you two to be very interesting since you're each from Ghana and Kenya which are the two African Countries that I've always wanted to visit.
Hi April, you have to be clear. waakye isn’t breakfast. It just so happens that people eat it anytime of the day. A country with a majority working poor, most people can’t always afford to have a proper breakfast, lunch and then dinner. That’s why some go for something a little heavy to start their day so it keeps them going for longer. Some Ashantis do like their fufu first thing in the morning and yet you won’t call fufu breakfast. Woda needs to be a little more nuanced in disseminating information of this kind. It’s misleading
Joseph Antwi No I disagree . There’s no rule book that states what breakfast , lunch & supper should be in a country like Ghana . You eat what you feel can take you throughout the day . Who determines what should be eaten at what time of the day ????
The Undisputed This is not about what you can and cannot eat. My point is that, do not put it out there that it is a type of meal Ghanaians see as breakfast, because it isn’t. It’s a staple dish that people enjoy at all times. Go to any restaurant and ask for a menu and see if you’ll find waakye under the breakfast category. Some people enjoy their fufu first thing in the morning so will you say fufu is a breakfast meal?
Joseph Antwi Yes fufu can be a breakfast meal. There’s no cast in concrete rule to that , besides restaurants are not the standard to determine what breakfast, lunch & supper is in the Ghanaian context . I’ve been eating waakye , rice & stew , etc since childhood as breakfast. No one determines what breakfast is and isn’t .
The Undisputed I get it. It’s the stance, not the truth, that matters to you. Why don’t you call your Dad, your mum and your sister, your wife? We haven’t passed any laws to stop you doing that. Strange!
