  • Does God really love me? If we’re honest, this is a question we all ask ourselves. Because of our sin, our consciences, and the assaults of the enemy, we often doubt whether God really does love us. Is he not frustrated, fed up, and displeased with us? Does God really delight to give us good gifts? Does he really delight to save us? Jon and Justin seek to answer these questions from Scripture in today’s episode.
Semper Reformanda: Jon and Justin talk openly with the members about what keeps them going and also update the members on some exciting changes coming to Theocast!

I was depressed on my floor face down crying out to God one Saturday and asking Him if He is like car insurance with only so many mistake and he cancels the policy? The next day at church the Pastor said "Some think that their relationship with God is like car insurance and after so many mistakes he cancel the policy." He said "God is our father and is not like that!" TRUE STORY!

I am so encouraged when pastors are willing to share their own struggles with us. I have noticed that Pastors who tell us to look to our behavior for our assurance share very little of their own struggles.

Some of my favorite parts- 8:36 I like the way you explain the need for Paul to say “we don’t have a spirit of fear”. I am naturally an anxious person; this verse and ones like it, made me guilty not comforted.
11:10 this father analogy is so GOOD

I'm so thankful for preachers like you guys. I can't tell you how refreshing and encouraging it is to hear your discussions. I'm still unsure on some things you guys say, as I've listened to a dozen hours of you so far in the last month, but I'm beginning to see the things you preach clearly and consistently. And that always fills me with joy. Pointing to Jesus in all things. Using scripture to encourage, not beat people over the heads with it. God bless you and your ministry. Just wanted to say thank you. Don't know if you'll read this or not. I have a small grace group on FB and we post a lot from grace teachers. Andrew Farley, and some others. I've been sharing some of your videos with them too, and people seem to enjoy them, for how ever many are active in the group. So hard to not find just passive Christians who don't seem to want to participate, but at least they are seeing and hopefully hearing encouraging things. Anyways. Love you guys. Appreciate you both. God bless you and your families. May the grace and peace of Christ fill you continually. 🙏 ❤❤❤

Funny to hear you mention Twitter. I've been in the trenches over there. Just blocked by an Anglican who thought that a person can never be saved if they don't partake in sacraments like baptism. SMH.

Watched a few of your episodes, and it was great ! For this question though, does God really loves us? Are you referring to only believers ? Only the elect ? If so I find it very disturbing because it’s not scriptural in my understanding.

One of the disclaimers that you'd have to put on this channel is that Jon and Justin aim their teaching to those *assumed* to have accepted the Gospel. To the elect Church. To fine tune our understanding and teach those of the faith. If you are an unbeliever they are not talking about you. They would say repent and believe on the lord Jesus Christ. They're always talking at the beginning of their videos about "rest in Christ." That's to believers. For us to fully enjoy and take hold of what God has given us - both the privileges and responsibilities.

@@liberatingtruths777 You should do a youtube search for "What is reformed theology?", a teaching series by Dr. RC Sproul. He's about the most eloquent and easy to listen to that I've ever heard on laying out what the Bible says on salvation. On God's part and man's condition.

@@liberatingtruths777 they go over scripture that talks about "while we were yet sinners". God's love I think is shown to be for sinners here, but they also make good effort in encouraging those who already believe. Because we can still struggle with believing He loves us unconditionally too. Just because they didn't highlight God's love for the world, doesn't mean they are saying God withholds His love for anyone until they believe. We know Jesus didn't just die for the elect, but for every last person on earth. But it is only those who believe in Jesus for their salvation, that indeed receive salvation. By grace, through faith in Him.
