Nor are prenatal diagnoses of the pregnancy timeline and due date necessarily a promise. There was an episode of paternity court, where the due date that the OBGYN estimated for the mother was a moving target as pregnancy progressed. This was the source of doubt in Father A's mind, and the mother admitted that Father B is also a possibility. The judge called on an expert to give an explanation for the due dates being a moving target, and what the likely conception date was, based on those facts. The expert identified the timeline indicated Father B would be most likely, but Father A ended up actually being the father.

I had two episodes last year, both had to be taken out via ureteroscopy. Worst pain I’ve ever been in, at it’s height IV oxy wasn’t even helping 😫 the stones themselves were actually really small (2-3mm) so I should have been able to pass them with maybe some extra fluids but my damn urethers are apparently super narrow so had to get knocked out to get them fished out. Wouldn’t wish them on my worst enemy

    • @caterscarrots3407

My closest thing to labor that wasn't labor is severe menstrual cramps. I could literally feel contraction after contraction on top of an already painful, crampy baseline. This was back when I was 18 and it was only ever this bad once. The best way I could describe it is "low mid-abdominal, pulsating pain, almost like a heartbeat". I was literally crying cause I was cramping so much. Having had menstrual contractions that strong, I'm scared of how intense labor is going to be if I do ever get pregnant.
In comparison, the kidney stone that I once had was nothing like that one super painful bout of menstrual cramps. It was constant, just like my cramps were, but it wasn't a crying in pain severity by any means. Only reason I knew it was a stone is because the pain was moving, slowly, about an inch down my back a day. By day 4, I had no pain at all upon waking up, meaning it went into my bladder. And then my morning urine was sandy, meaning that it just spontaneously dissolved.

I remember one delivery where there were like 15 people in the room-family, friends, even several children around 8-10.
As an RT, we only go to high risk deliveries. Can't remember what this one was, but I remember thinking how unsafe it was. It was certainly chaotic, 2 people were filming, one with a tripod. Kids running around, I noticed one dude pulled out a flask-grandpa I think, he was just over in a corner looking disgruntled. Crazy.

The doctor who delivered my first was awful. I had never met him once (the practice was so large that I only met each doctor one time). He augmented my labor for no reason, made me push when the epidural was so high that I was too numb to feel contractions, and refused to tell me how bad the tearing was (it took me two months to heal). When I got pregnant again, I went to a new practice...they cared more, there were 5 of them so I saw them multiple times), and when I went into labor they were very hands off in a good way. I didn’t feel rushed the way I did the first time. I was very glad I switched instead of staying with the first practice.

I agree! I am an adopted mother and would love to see more recognition for women who are brave and self-sacrificing enough to make an adoption plan. Also, I have been told about how poorly they can be treated by nurses and doctors who don't agree with their decision (thankfully this was not my daughter's birth mother's experience). It would be great to educate on this. Creating an adoption plan should not be shameful, it should be respected.
