I've only recently become a fan of Orange Juice and Edwyn Collins. I had no idea he went through this. He's gained a whole new level of respect from me. Cheers to you Edwyn. Hope you continue to get better.
Having heard him on the radio last week I'd say there's been a noticeable improvement in Edwyn's condition since this was recorded. Not a recovery, by any means, but his speech was much more fluid and coherent.
Went to a screening of 'The possibilities are endless' the other week at the edinburgh filmhouse. After the screening there was a QnA and he played a few songs. It was an amazing night, such an amazing an inspirational musician.
@darling67 ...you're damn right! Just go back to his OJ days, just go back to his early solo albums, and the rest and there y'll find the spark of scottish pop genius. Collins is a master of wit (so precociously evident for the world to see and ignore...). It's the nature of the world that bitter irony of fate strikes brilliant minds like his. But the man his strong hearted and hard-headed as always and it's with great pleasure that we see him recover! Postcard forever! Upwards and onwards!
How come only 21,675 have watched this? If we all watched it we might appreciate the spirit of humanity so much more. Life is fragile, treat it as a privilege & with utmost respect , then live it to the full, just as he does. EDWYN! Looking forward to seeing you live (alive) at the Royal Festival Hall tonight. Rock it out!
Wonderful to see himself and Grace - imagine what they BOTH went through in this. Like the way they share the interview parts, fill in the gaps for eachother. He deserved to that Ivor Novello Award! Brace determined man!
Prompted to look up Edwyn's videos after hearing "A Girl Like You" featured in the new M&S advert, I was shocked and saddened to discover that he'd suffered 2 strokes. I've watched these documentaries and I'm now full of admiration for him and his wife Grace and will encourage friends and family to watch. Love and very best wishes to Edwyn and his family - you truly are inspirational.
Voilà pourquoi je tiens il y a plus handicapé que moi et je regrette mon handicap pour moi c'est terrible et je le vois chaque jour et ça me gène chaque jour

his music is just ageless! It's hard to find some music touches my soul - but he really did and does!
I'm actually here because of Alex Kapranos.
What an inspirational and talented man, hes the Pride of Scotland. I think this video is narrated by Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand.
this guy,all crippled and fucked up,can make a better song than liam gallagher.now that hes doing better, hes better than noel.
what a strong wonderful person, the vitality of his music resonates all over the world, a true inspiration.
i can't be the only one that found it funny that Maconie described Orange Juice as being 'fresh'
Wow.. I had no idea he went thru this.. God Bless the Collins family.. I live his work..

An absolute superstar in my eyes and it was great seeing him "rip it up" last sunday in Bristol
I've been looking for a while for this to show up! Thank you, such a moving documentary without being sentimental or mawkish, just great.
I met Edwyn a fortnight ago, and he was utterly charming. A wonderful human being.

Hope and despair is one of the best albums I've ever heard...God bless you Edwyn. Glad you're doing so well again

Oh God,I wonder why.. I didn't know what happened to him..I can't express what I feel..just tears in my eyes😭😭😭😭
What a great woman to help him through it all. Think about how it must have felt for her when the person she loved doesn't recognize her! yikes...
very very touching!!! what a strong man! keep working hard, Im thinking about you!!!

So endearing. My mum too also suffered a stroke the same year as him and it's good to see that both are strong individuals.
Did his condition improve in comparison to this clip in terms of control over the right side of his body and speaking?
