- Today I am going to show you how you can replace the boot logos on most modern Thinkpads with your own custom boot image. Keep in mind that this process requires you to flash your BIOS, this could result in a bricked laptop so proceed at your own risk.

And the home page is a rick roll page that automatically goes full screen. And finally, sodder the hard drive (lol) and encrypt it so they can never format it and have to be Rick rolled on every boot

Wow! This method works on my E555! Too bad the image cant be as big as 1366x768. Im using your recommended resolution, that is 256x128. The image size is 17kb. I can see the new image in both UEFI mode and Legacy Mode.

If it's got a logo already, it supports logos... The hard part is finding the BIOS image editing tools required.
Asus used to supply MyLogo with desktop boards, which was a real quick and easy way to change logos... But I don't think it ever supported laptops. Could download the latest and try opening your laptop BIOS update image with it... Worst it will do is say it can't open it.

This works on the T430. It only seems to work with GIFS, but that isn't an issue, as long as you aren't over 30 KB.

Hey there! Been watching your videos for quite some time now. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for a cheap laptop for daily usage & light gaming preferably less than $150 w/ upgrades. The reason for needing a laptop is because someone stole my macbook from my car along with other things while I was at work... it's the holidays & there's people out there smashing cars and stealing stuff.. ugh
Get a x230 if you don't need a DVD drive, just make sure to upgrade to an ssd and that the screen is ips
I picked up an X250 with a 128gb SSD for $250 on eBay. I get about 6 hours of battery no problem, and that's with a nearly 4 year old battery. Solid laptop, handles all my business and school needs just fine. Can even play League at medium settings. CS:GO? Not so well. At least, my i5 model can't. I've seen the i7 model perform a bit better though. Just check on eBay. You can find a lot of good stuff there :)

Have you done much programming on the W541? The off-center keyboard makes me hesitant to buy one. I do a lot of typing and don't know how much it could affect my posture. I'm currently using a T440p which is fantastic. But an extra inch on the screen wouldn't be a bad thing!

Yeah, and I know that the only reason why it requires you just to have that certain low color and low rez logo, is because the BIOS is outdated and the motherboard manufacturer doesn't want to waste their time and money of updating their outdated BIOS. It would've been really awesome if they would modernize their BIOS.
It's not outdated , they keep the shitty formats for legacy compatibility , so that a sysadmin at a business does not need to make new logos or relearn a new bios.
Every bit used for a logo is one less bit that can be used for something useful.
If bootup logos are your biggest concern on a BIOS, you've led a sheltered life.

TomGreen 99 No. The BIOS has an advanced algorithm that checks if the image is a meme. If it is not, a SWAT team will invade your house, and your computer will blow up.

Assuming you don't stuff up the process, it shouldn't... However if you flash a corrupt BIOS image, you may brick the laptop, and since you did it on purpose, you're probably stuffed then.

Hey AACAT, have you ever experienced WiFi drops with your x40 series thinkpads? I have been experiencing extremely frequent wifi drops with my T440 thinkpad and it has the Intel 7620 .11n card im out of idea on what to do as Lenovo gave me the royal whitelist middle finger, ive had this laptop for 4 days and im already tired of it. Any ideas on how to prevent this from happening or just a replacement card that would work in this laptop without triggering it?
