Not being an american, it took me some 20 seconds to figure out that "greyhounds" are the buses. I thought for a moment that he brought racetrack dogs along with him on tour
This was very bitter sweet. I live in Knoxville TN and like so many others discovered Jay just a little too late. You can learn more about him from this than watching 30 other Jay Reatard UA-cam videos. RIP Jay save me a seat in punk hell.
Wow, knowing that he passed away makes me quite sad, he seems like one of the nicest and most personable interviewies ever. Also wow, red ringed xbox in the background.
Oh my god,I just clicked this,it's incredible. I always thought about how cool this would be. Thank you,Nuardwar. From the bottom of my cold wretched heart. Bless you. Bless you.
He doesn't seem like the massive asshole everyone made him out to be. Definitely a little cynical, but he seems like a really smart guy. So sad to lose him so early.
He was a bad alcoholic and drug addict. You can be the nicest person on the planet, but until you overcome those demons you'll always be overindulging and turning into someone you're not
The sheer amount of feels seeing him alive and well is insane. AND there's a red-ringed Xbox in the background; as if the video wasn't upsetting enough.
Heard that Jay was hard to work with sometimes. After his band quit he called them fat, stupid, and said they couldn’t play worth shit. Those two dudes were from a great band called The Barbara’s.
I asked you a couple years ago on Twitter where I could find this interview and you linked me the audio to it on your website! I had no idea that this was recorded on video as well! This is awesome Nardwuar, thank you for this!
I saw them on one of the very last dates of that final tour, it was fucking phenomenal. My friends & I met him that night & got a pic with him. He was super humble & nice. A few weeks later he was gone…. I still remember getting the text when I was at work. It sounds lame but I walked out to my car & cried hysterically….
I get sadder every single time I realize Jay died..What an awesome, chill as hell guy; the man was a god damn prolific songwriter, breaks my fuckin heart. RIP Jay, I love you, such a great down-to-earth, great man. Fuck, now I'm heartbroken again..
**But thank you Nardwuar for releasing/uploading this interview. Doot Doot Da loot loot, you're the shit, Nard "stay hard" wuar(d) (As Snoop once said).
@@stinkyboy69514 the single albums? matador singles '08 and singles 06-07 from in the red. the metal one is winter coffin and only released one song. but he's got TONS of other singles too
I got into Jay Reatard at the age of 17, and I'm now 23. Man was an absolute music legend. God rests his soul. Wish I got into his music while he was still alive.
We are fortunate that we got so much from him in such a short period of time. Dude cranked out music like he was running out of time and it turned out that he did.
It's seriously heartbreaking to see him just beaming talking about his plans to branch out into indie rock and metal after punk, with the intention of conquering all those genres. Considering his work ethic and talent, along with that ambition I have every confidence him and the reatards would have had every corner of the music industry on LOCK, and they would have had a blast doing it. Tragic.
"You start dating and the next thing you know, you're playing a synthesizer" ICONIC
This breaks my heart. He was a kid, man.
yeah. a 28-year-old kid
+Maxi Navarro A kid who liked black tar heroin just a little too much
+brruh bruh jay wasn't a junky, he died of cocaine toxicity.
+Andrew Rutledge 29
uhhhhhhhhh he had a toxixity to it, meaning it was bad for him, yet he took it..... thats how you die from toxixity bra, he deff was a junky

Fuuuuuuuuuuck I really miss Jay. Still think about that dude a lot. He was a hell of a talent.
Yesiamblind guy's music was fast yet melodic!
this is seriously the most coherent nardwuar interview ive ever seen
Jay was at his best here.
they're both from the punk rock scene, it's really perfect for nardwuar
Not being an american, it took me some 20 seconds to figure out that "greyhounds" are the buses. I thought for a moment that he brought racetrack dogs along with him on tour
same here!
👍😂
My first thought during that conversation was "how do you bring band equipment on a Greyhound?" Man, those buses bring me back...
That actually made me laugh out loud LOL the Reatards & race dogs
They’re pretty much the only bus company that’s available
“They were a prog rock band and the b-side is unlistenable”

Jay was just getting started. Who knows how many great albums he still had in him. Depressing.
Jay Reatard is one of the best musicians to come out of last decade
