@Rachel Thee Hermit This was Londin circa mid '70s. The whole point of punk music there, at that point, was to strip back rock & roll to its bare essentials as a response to progressive, psychedelic and classic rock self-indulgence. 3 chords, a standard rock formation and a pop music song structure. It was subversive in that context, but not forward thinking. I can totally see why the music was too traditional to the ears of Orridge. Punk music didn't really get exciting until it reached Japan anyway.
@Rachel Thee HermitWrong, Punk came out when Genesis was a young man literally in his prime, so how can you say he doesnt like it because hes old? He lived through it. Theres an interview from 1979 where Genesis trashes Joy Division and calls them too conventional. Throbbing Gristle music from the late 70’s IS weirder and more experimental than any punk. My point is hes always been like this
I love interviews like this where at first the artist isn't sure what to think of Nardwuar and they're kind of dismissive towards him, then part way through they're like "holy shit, this guy really knows his stuff" and you can see their attitude change as they gain respect for him
RIP, Genesis P-Orridge, and Nardwuar, thank you for being hands down the greatest rock and roll (in ALL it's manifestations) interviewer of all time. This was beautiful.

take in mind the personality, the time, we change in many aspects with time, imagine a interviewer like that with a genesis during TG years, would be probably a mess.
one of the most interesting and funny interviews, a lot of funny and unknown things, Genesis really get that Nardwual is autentic and i love that he make a good research of the artist.

I saw Psychic TV live in Geneva a long time ago and at one point during the performance he stared me right in the eyes. That whole thing was an incredible weird eerie experience.
First exposure to Nardwuar weirdness. Not surprised Gen was a little taken aback. Still, the guy was extremely well researched & once s/he realised this the interview went well and was very funny.
it did make me happy there were a few things genesis clarified there that nardwuar might not have gotten the exact information right coming into this interview. gen was and is the greatest avant garde enigma, i'm glad for the times we got to hear just a little bit of her fucking insane life
