Sarah Stay away from the dealer. They will always rip you off, stick with the mechanic you trust. And those shocks, get rid of them when it's time and get a good Rancho shock or equivalent. At least they will last and you wont have to have them rebuilt all the time. I've been a mechanic all my life so I know. Have a nice trip.

Oh my gosh I LOVE Gloria. I have contact with an orphanage in Kenya and they are always so grateful and do such wonderful work with the beautiful children. They just bought 2 cows and have been building some dormitories. Gloria, thank you for everything!

In fairness, you actually use your 4R off-road a lot. Most people don't. Dirt and cycles are very HARD on those seals, but I have no idea about those particular shocks. Good job dumping the dealer. Gloria is adorable. Stay awesome, Huss.

Rinsing the shock is what you would need to do. A weed sprayer would do a great job and cost a whole lot less than multiple car washes. You could even take a small hand held with you on your trips. The hand held can be purchased with spray head extensions to reach into the shocks.

An off-road rig set up with those kind of shocks are for guys who like to tinker and work on the rig regularly. I would put on a less expensive version and set it and forget it till they leak and replace.
$1000. to "rebuild" 4 shocks? Rip those puppies out of there, and put in a set of heavy duty Monroe shocks. They come with a limited lifetime warranty. NAPA has them for your Toyota. Much cheaper to buy, and not so delicate and finicky. Your regular mechanic can put them in. And, you can get them replaced if need be, almost anywhere. As for your weight gain, don't fret, Sara. You look just fine, as always. You're active anyway.
Its lifted, Monroe's as far as I know are OEM shocks and will not work. It has to be another after market shock of the same length but better . Old Man Emu or Bilstein . Look at the video its a long shock with a longer bump stop.
I just put Fox shocks on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler and my 2006 GMC 2500HD. They are shock absorbers,........if they leak they need to be replaced. I bought them when they were on sale from 4 Wheel Parts in Las Vegas, NV.. They did a good job, reasonably priced. They work on 4 wheel drive vehicles of every year, make and model. Looks like quite a few people with ICON shocks complain of them leaking. Rogue looks like a very cool shop! I'll have to try them.
Lifted means more maintenance in every regard. I learned the hard way. Stock height from now on. Everything lasts as it should and mileage doesn't fall off as bad.

You bought racing shocks, they need lots of maintenance, frequently. Get a more basic shock for off road. Talk to some of the more serious Jeep owners for suggestions. Rancho and Bilstein are respectable shocks. Make sure they are oil dampened, NOT AIR DAMPENED! Also, slow down off road, damn it! Hot dogging it fast and slamming into rocks and stuff wrecks suspension equipment, especially front end suspension stuff.

Shock absorbers ensure that you ensure that your car remains steerable and that keep your tires in contact with the road. Would you not have shock absorbers, you will bounce off the road. Cheap shock absorbers do the same as the expensive version. When you go to that ghost town, realize that it is only haunted if you pay attention to it, as soon as you ignore them they disappear.

Find an off road retail shop. They can help you with all of your suspension needs! These shops usually have mechanics that can do your suspension checks, etc.
Seems like you have done just that at Rogue Off Road! Any time you have a question about your 4runner, mention it on here as it seams like a lot of your followers have extensive experience to offer some great advice. Adventuring is really big now and we are a large family that likes to help one another.
if you have used an old hand held bike pump in just a few pumps they get hot from the compression. shock absorbers do the same and get so hot if you felt one after a bumpy off road ride you would burn your hand and the heat can ruin the shock. Thats why everyone that goes up to the racetrack ruins their shocks. Its impossible to determine a mileage how long they should last because basic shocks will last for years just driving around but there are two conditions that will destroy them new or not 1) bumpy road with alot of shock bumps 2) the bumps will not harm the shock at all unless it goes on for miles where the shock gets toasted because it cant dissipate the heat fast enough. another issue is high air temps--if you are going along bumpy road in hot weather such as to go to racetrack virtually any shock will be destroyed-new or not.

Shock absorbers ensure that you ensure that your car remains steerable and that keep your tires in contact with the road. Would you not have shock absorbers, you will bounce off the road. Cheap shock absorbers do the same as the expensive version. When you go to that ghost town, realize that it is only haunted if you pay attention to it, as soon as you ignore them they disappear.

Find an off road retail shop. They can help you with all of your suspension needs! These shops usually have mechanics that can do your suspension checks, etc.

Any time you have a question about your 4runner, mention it on here as it seams like a lot of your followers have extensive experience to offer some great advice. Adventuring is really big now and we are a large family that likes to help one another.
if you have used an old hand held bike pump in just a few pumps they get hot from the compression. shock absorbers do the same and get so hot if you felt one after a bumpy off road ride you would burn your hand and the heat can ruin the shock. Thats why everyone that goes up to the racetrack ruins their shocks. Its impossible to determine a mileage how long they should last because basic shocks will last for years just driving around but there are two conditions that will destroy them new or not 1) bumpy road with alot of shock bumps 2) the bumps will not harm the shock at all unless it goes on for miles where the shock gets toasted because it cant dissipate the heat fast enough. another issue is high air temps--if you are going along bumpy road in hot weather such as to go to racetrack virtually any shock will be destroyed-new or not.
