- this 1966 Buick Skylark commercial was created for Buick but never aired. it came out of an Estate of a former Advertising Executive. it appears to be only a test concept. It really actually doesn't work very well on many levels. But somebody clearly liked it enough to save it. The music is "The In Crowd". Hence the shirts that say " In". The "In Crowd" did become an official Buick Theme two years later in 1968
What a beautiful car...we'll never see new cars designed like that ever again...sad
Very cool and innovative. Nice long header at the beginning - I collect those!
My first car at sixteen was a '66 Buick Special red (like this one) with white top/interior I bought in '76 from an elderly lady in the neighborhood that no longer drove - only had 19K on it and I gave her $800 for it. The ladys name was Myrtle so I named the car "Myrtle" in her honor which really tickled her.
I'd still like to see another one in person!
it's cooler than today's my grandpa used to own a Buick commercial.

It's easy to see why it wasn't used, you simply don't see much of the car until the end. Cars sold - and still sell - mostly on their "visual" appeal. Thus if you don't get to "see" the car, the commercial is not going to be very effective.
Please understand, this was never intended to air, it was a concept study for an Advertising Campaign....it came from the Estate of the creator.
There's nothing wrong with it being a test or an "idea" for a commercial. But I still believe that it wasn't used because it simply didn't show enough of the car. Thus it was never used.
yeah, I'm again missing your point I guess, I'm saying it was never intended to be use as a commercial although parts of this commercial were used in the Marketing Program at Buick. The whole idea of "The In Crowd", the song and the words on the shirt were incorporated into Buick's marketing program. "The In crowd" became a theme in their paper ads and also their brochures for the 1968 model year.
Groovy!
That was my aunt Maude's car .
This is when Buicks we're really cool cars unlike the Modern Buicks that are made in China 🇨🇳.
Can see why it was not used. Confusing and rather annoying. The car however is stunning. Absolutely beautiful automobile.
That has to be one of the absolute worst advertising for a car that I've ever seen. Oh...1960's,....you were so silly! LOL
I guess you didn't read the description, this wasn't an advertisement to air on TV, the Ad Agency, Erichson & McMan was just testing technology and concept, here in this the blue screen effect and also the music being the "In Crowd" which was a conceptual marketing campaign by Buick that never got used.
@@OsbornTramain Yeah, I saw that. I didn't mean to disparage. I've enjoyed watching your videos since I stumbled upon them. 🙂
Not a lot to do with the car
This was just a "concept" created by the advertising agency. It's from 1966. The actual marketing slogan, "in Crowd" did make it's way into the advertising of Buicks in 1967. That's the name of the song, "The In Crowd"......the word on the girls shirt, "In".
@@OsbornTramain ... yes I caught that (concept) ... I still enjoyed it ... heck I've seen worse
