Great video. These past two years I really started paying attention to soil health. Gabe Brown's book, Dirt to Soil is a real eye-opener... Deer hunting is so much more than just sitting in a tree on October 1st, it has to be one of the most fulfilling hobbies, for sure!

@Ojibwa62 x I did the same this year. Tilled one clover plot and only raked the other. The raked plot is doing much better. Thanks for that tip for no tilling👍

Thank you for showing the wind history website. I didnt know such website existed and will be a major player in how I hunt a property 3hrs away.

Good video my man. Actually just planted my northwoods whitetails fall forage blend with forage radish last weekend, and this gave me confidence that I was lacking.

I put in clovers, radishes, kale, purple top, kale, buckwheat, and peas in mid July north of oscoda. Shocked by the growth. I broadcasted wheat over the top a week ago.

Fantastic video!! Learned a lot! I had a couple huge bucks spot my trail cameras at night. I feel they ruined a couple of my best stands and removed them immediately. Contemplating not even putting them out this year. I’m after 150+ bucks and you can’t make mistakes. Wish they made a trail camera that didn’t take pictures at night…. What good are night time pictures anyways? Thanks for the video! Cabin and land in Wapacua county but live a couple hours away, nice tip on the rainfall and winds but if you’re a hunter you know what the predominant winds are.

Great info! I use cereal rye in Mid November here in Alabama to provide new green growth and fill in spots in the plots. How would chicory, radishes, Buck Forage Oats, small burnett, hairy vetch do? I am planting the first round in September. Then I am doing oats in October and then top sowing cereal rye before Thanksgiving.

Can you do a video on the three strip method? Basically you do a strip of brassicas, a strip of grains like rye/wheat/oats, and then a third strip? What is the third strip - clover?

This is a very informative video. You mentioned you separate planting of brassicas, grains and nitrogen producing plant. Any suggestions for planting a great one acre plot?

Somebody else watches Jeff Sturgis from WHS. Great advice that’s exactly what I done this year johns brassica blend on one acre at 6 lbs per acre. And Johns fall forage on the other half acre of the plot at 100 lbs per acre so I planted 50 on half acre.

If you inadvertently plant too much brassica and the plants are crowded, is there anything you can do to correct it? Lightly disc? Spot spray roundup? Etc

drive over it in a criss cross early to crush plants and kill them.

I live in iowa and just because it's a fantasy state doesn't mean you can just be willy nilly with cameras a bigger tip than getting the camera high is putting it on a tree wider than the camera

I do not look at the calendar... just look at the grass and trees around your house if the grass and trees start to change some color to yellow then it is time to dig and plant your food plot because rain is coming , coming very soon to help these trees and grass to change the season or if you want to plant in the springs to feed the deer look...look at your truck or car. If you see yellow pollen on your truck then it is good time to dig and plant because rain is coming , coming to help the grass and trees to grow.. if you have a food plot your food plot will grow very well.
