    I don’t ever understand why Bette Davis gets all the credit and I’m going to be honest, I mean yes Bette Davis is a legend and deserves lots of praise, recognition, appreciation, and respect for her work but I do believe and feel strongly that sometimes she is overrated and given too much praise and Joan Crawford I feel is always given too little. I know people always say Bette was the better actress and Joan was more of the star and beauty but I completely disagree with society. To me when I watch Crawford and Davis they are without a doubt equally amazing in their work and both of them are screen legends. Crawford definitely was a a great beauty and a star but she deserves as much praise for her talent as Bette Davis does and sadly doesn’t get it much from audiences and people. Davis deserves much more appreciation for her beauty because I think she was more more praise for her beauty than given credit for. I thought she was really pretty in her youth in films like Jezebel and All About Eve. So to sum it up both actresses deserve more credit in the areas they are not recognized in. Crawford for her immense talent and Davis in her immense beauty. Just think it’s important to put this out there because I love both of their work both wonderfully talented actresses

    Also bare in my mind, it was also Crawford’s idea to Robert Aldrich to work with Bette Davis for this film. After working for Bob for his 1956 film Autumn Leaves, Joan did have lee way to have discussions with him and have opportunity to revitalize her own career and In a way Bette Davis career as well. Both of their careers were fading by 1962 when his film was made. She wanted to work with her and approached her while Bette was performing in the theatre. They needed each other to make the picture work. Without Crawford there would be no baby Jane and without Bette There would be no baby Jane. The two of them are great in this film and no one could do justice to these two divas.

    • @klassicalmuzik
      @klassicalmuzik 6 років тому +4

      maszlagma I’m not too surprised they did that. From what I understand Joan Crawford had 6 of her molars extracted when she was on her early 20s. So she probably couldn’t have made the munching noises as loud as she could have due to her lack of molars which are obviously used to help thoroughly chew your food. Does that make sense?

    • @jameshoughton7509
      @jameshoughton7509 6 років тому

      klassicalmuzik Yes, I agree.

    • @nassauguy48
      @nassauguy48 6 років тому

      Well, eating actual chocolates would not have produced that type of noise. Joan was really eating pieces of meat, and since meat is moister, the sound is correspondingly accurate.

    • @obscurelyvague
      @obscurelyvague 2 роки тому

      @@nassauguy48 and @klassicalmuzik I guess it could be an individual thing but it seems that the fewer teeth you have the more you cannot control certain movements of your inner cheeks and lips and it seems that your inner cheeks and lips would be more likely to make smacking sounds without teeth in the way, but also it seems you can use your tongue against the roof of your mouth ( try it). And it did not seem so much like munching sounds than breathing a certain way as Blanche savors the taste. As far as meat being moister than chocolates, well if those chocolates were in a drawer than in the refrigerator they would be soft and perhaps almost melted. It seems that the climate that this particular scene depicts, it is warm or even hot so the chocolates would be "moist" in a significant way. Now somehow I cannot help but ask this, what would you want to eat if you were acting out this scene ? Even though you would supposed to be eating chocolates, would you want to act out a scene in which you are actually eating chocolate ? Oh, another thing, what if you were actually in Blanche's situation? Your sister is not giving you food and you are hungry? Where would you go to find food?

    This is the one scene that has me wondering about cutting and edit. Jane is driving the Lincoln out of the driveway but is somehow able to shift the car from first to second while making a 90" turn to the right. A Lincoln of that year was not able to to do that. It had to be in first gear to do that turn while using the clutch, otherwise it got the hiccups. But Jane was clearly seen shifting from first to second while going down the driveway. This gear head will just keep watching Feud and point out the differences.

    This is the only reason why Jane, as much as she hated Blanche and living in that house, stayed on. It was never out of guilt about what she thought she did to Blanche. She did not have that type of conscience. She knew that Blanche was the "sugar sister" and could not admit that she could never have lived on her meager earnings as a child star.

      No it’s both theirs and to be honest if Joan Crawford did not exist Bette Davis never would have done this film and the film would have never happened. I know this from all my homework and studying about these two women from this time frame and even in the tv Show Feud this is the case. Crawford is sadly very undermined and underrated as very talented actress and deserves way more credit than she is given. She and Bette are equal but in a very different ways. Just my opinion and Joan deserved to be nominated. She is very vulnerable in this film and she brings a lot to the character of Blanche.
