It’s crazy how these two women envied each other. Bette envied Joan’s beauty while Joan envied Bette’s acting abilities. They were both talented! If only they worked together more than they hated each other.
I think they hated each others
Bette Davis was a very honest person and I've never heard her say anything about Joans supposed beauty. Joan envied Bette versatile acting abilities, thats for sure.
Unbelievable that this movie masterpiece was wrapped up in 3 weeks. A testament to the hard work of everyone involved. Brilliant performances by both Crawford and Davis.. but also the supporting actors who cemented the movie with such strong performances. It has stood the test of time as a classic one-off.
Well, it was not just that. The producers had to rush it because the two women openly could not stand each other.
Not just a dead parakeet, a dead parakeet on a bed of sliced tomatoes!
Well done, Jane. Appealing food presentation is so often overlooked, unfortunately.
When I first saw this as a kid I hated Jane and empathized with Blanche. But Davis's nuanced performance shows how damaged and emotionally crippled Jane is that you end up sympathizing with her in a strange way, especially once the truth comes out at the end.
Yes! I cried at the end!
Jane was always the victim here. Blanche ruined her life and manipulated her to ensure she never knew the truth.
I never liked Blanche. Even as a kid the "you did it to yourself" reveal left little room for compassion towards her character.
Yup
Bette Davis is so good in this...
It's like a breathing living rag doll come to life!!!
How has this not been made into a broadway play??
Bette was stellar in her performance. This is actually my top favorite of hers. She really was amazing. She could play crazy like no one else LOL
She was so scary and just a crazy bitch! I’d like to see Meryl in this role too
It's even more shocking when you realize the real villain in this piece is none other than Blanche !!
Joan Crawford also deserved a nomination for her subtle yet powerful performance
Some nice little place where they can look after me?! 😂 she delivered that line perfectly
Bette owned this movie.
But Bette really really owned this movies🕸😀💚
ah no, it was a shared effort, if anything, Crawford's acting was much more "restrained" than Davis', Bette Davis essentially invented the concept of "camp" with her performance in this movie.
Fearless performance from Bette Davis, the hate for Crawford is actually palpable
Uh, ya think! But Bette willing to go to this dark, ugly place... remarkable. Oscar worthy, if you ask me.
Bette is the best..joan was always jealous of Bette- and many others.
@@davidfairbrother4292 I believe you.
@@davidfairbrother4292 Joan had become noted for starring in Grade B movies, and it was not until "Mildred Pierce" that she finally had a breakthrough. Bette had been starring in blockbusters since the very start.
Bette was so good playing this type of character.
This movie is such a classic!
Eatcha lunch, it'll get colt... I was cleanin' da cage...." the birt" got out.
It's all about plate presentation.
"You are DISGUSTING!" LMAO!
LITERALLY SO FUNNNNY
What is LMAO ??
@davidfairbrother4292 laughing my ass off
bette should have won the oscar
But then Joan would have been upset.
Joan was upset at the fact she even got nominated.
Bette Davis facial expressions oh my goodness!!!
This movie wasnt meant to be funny but after watching it so many times, I be cracking up!!
Yeah, unfortunately, it turned into a campy production with drag queens now doing parodies.
Bette Davis should most assuredly have won the Oscar albeit Anne Bancroft was good. Who could have played Baby Jane better than Bette with all her character changes? What a stunning piece of acting!!
+Darius Wilder why should Bette have won if Joan wasn't even nominated?
We all look at BJ more. Time is the true test of all.

Mark Whitman Hellary Clinton woulda been effective.
And to think the bankers wanted Elizabeth Taylor for the Bette Davis part. After seeing Virginia Wolf I could see that Elizabeth Taylor might have worked. But we'll never know.
Love you Baby Crazy Jane still watching 2020
I love that little dollop of cottage cheese on the tail.. Nice touch.
pfer1000 😂😂😂😂😂😂
It actually looks more like whipped cream (not chunky enough for cottage cheese), but so gross! Yet, so great.
Creme fraiche, maybe?
I am sure it was a dollop of mayonnaise. Mayonnaise goes with fowl.
mbazikos1 i checked the script, and you're right! it's mayonnaise!!
“Eat ya lunch it’ll get cold”😝
Bette Davis was remarkable. I played a loony in a high school play, and I won best actress. It's just terrific fun!
They are the most fun parts to play, congrats on win!
I like the look Jane gives Blanche the split second after she yanks the phone cord from the wall...somewhat of a "I just fixed your ass, Bitch" look.
02chevyguy 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The irony is that Blanche is going through the same torture that Christina Crawford was going through in real life!!! The victim in the movie was actually the perpetrator in real life... I guess Joan Crawford had some material to work on... hahaha!!! That's what they say sometimes reality exceeds fiction...
Christina was probably laughing at the scenes that her mother was abused in.
To anyone who critizes Crawford's acting, ask yourselves this? Could you have done it better? Could you have done it as well ? She is a great actress and she is as great as Davis in this picture. They are great in this with the roles they were given. Both of them. Their characters are both at fault and living in denial. I think that Crawford is an underated actress and deserves more recognition for her talent. David is great so is Crawford. This is true art
Josiah Brown I agree with you. Joan Crawford was equally good in this movie. Especially the scene wherein she had a telephone conversation with the doctor downstairs. She was truly exceptional in that one.
First time I saw this, I was home sick and frozen solid in fear during certain scenes. This was back when parents left their kids home sick alone. Terrified as a kid. 😬
He didn't call here last week, I know that too
He wrote me a letter
He didn't do that either
He sent me a text and smoke signals
OH, YOU'RE A LIAR, YOU'RE JUST A LIAR!
Lunch is shown at 03:53 Parakeet on a bed of what I count as twenty sliced tomatoes with a dollop of mayonnaise at the tail. That's more tomato than most people would eat in one meal. Mean Baby Jane probably added the mayo to look like a bird turd.
this is my favorite scene in the whole movie

Coke Guts Pretty much every scene in this movie makes me lose it! One of my top 10 movies of all time. You lost the DVD? It's one of my most treasured possessions.
NOOOO that poor little bird...:(
Great movie, but I have to laugh when Bette plays with her "hair' and gives it a "fling" (so obviously a wig)
It's easy to applaud Davis and overlook Crawford when Davis had the 'meatier' role. I think Joan Crawford did a fine job playing the straight character opposite Davis' insanity.
bette literally SPILLING her hate there, i love that
Bette the greatest actress ever. Love the Boston accent.
Feud made me watch this movie and now it's one of my favorites Jessica Lange did such a good job playing Joan Crawford I love Jessica Lange is one of the best actress ever......
3:56
I'm pretty sure that's a real dead budgie on a bed of sliced tomatoes.
It has all the appropriate feather markings. I doubt the "fx" department went out of their way to make a replica.
Those slippers are the best
"You've BEAN spying on me!" LOL I love the way she screams when she sees the bird.. lol.
Love Davis' lipstick & blonde fluffy hair
Why the fuck is this trending 9 years after it was uploaded lol
Booster let’s make UA-camrs aware.
Because of the new program Feud about their hate for each other lol
You've heard of peasant under glass? Well, this is parakeet on silver tray.
pheasant
@@timmiller1954 Thnks for the correction
Did Elvira make that delicious-looking bed of tomatoes? Or did Jane do that herself? She could have a career: Parakeets by Jane..
David Lewis 😄😄😄😄😂😂
Que fue de baby Jane
What ever happened with baby jane
A sequel would be so awesome! Jane would be on trial. "You're just a liar, ya always were! I don't know what your talking about." Edwin as a character witness: "Well, she certainly can sing..."
The egg salad behind the parakeets ass is the worst part
Travis Petersen 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Creme fraiche out the ass.
baby's hair flying lol
I think Joan did a great job playing the victim/undercover aggressor. Bette is an equal match as Jane. She seems fractured and broken but she also plays right into blanches victim routine.
Joan's problem is that this is all she ever played. Her typecast as the resilient and smiling victim quickly got stale.
Thank you for uploading this
I'm on Jane's side, after all Blanche was going to sell the house and put Jane in the funny farm...can you blame her?
she belonged in the funny farm
@masakasama she would have ended up there anyways.
"Oh, Jane. Don't you think my lunch is a bit, well, under cooked"?
Those tomatoes were a nice touch.
Have you noticed that the director has Jane point at Blanche and hold it for a couple of (unnatural) seconds? She does it in the scene where Jane says, "and you're never leaving it [the house], either!"
It always has me laughing harder than necessary😂
Love this movie, have the DVD always watching it, Jane used to scare me as a kid!! 📀😨
0:16 "Oh Blanche, you know your bird was in the cellar" Naaaa... I'll save that line for the rat xD
Thanks for posting~
Because Zulu, it is a classic!!!! Name one movie today that has mystery, drama, and two A list stars. This movie scared the hell out of me and there was no scary special effects!!! Many actresses today stood on these women's shoulders!!! Heart stopping action.
Davis deserved the Academy Award for this movie.
Love the way she says "you are disGUSting," I can think of a few people I would LOVE to say that to.
Bettie Davies we love you (vogue ) 😇😙
Happy Halloween 🎃🎃 legendary 💕❤️
Tweety bird! How cute. lol
i WONDER IF WHEN THEY MAKE THEE FILMS IF ANY OF THEM TRULY HAVE ANY COMPREHENSION OF HOW THEY LIVE ON TO SUCH A DEGREE. iT'S AMAZING!
One thing I've noticed...Blanche always refers to the phone as the "telephone". Jane refers to it as the "phone".
Eat’cha lunch it’ll get cold😂😂
Baby Jane Hudson, that's who! :)
I love real life sister types, these ladies are just like my family.
"One Of The Best Movies Ever Made!!Bette Davis Is Unrivaled By No Other!!!"🙏🏼🎬❣🌠🙌🏼
In china they call that an appetizer
NOW , NOW THIS IS THE Actors IN MY LIFE , THESE TWO I WILL NEVER FOR GET, THESE TWO ACTORS ARE THE BEST IN MY LIFE .
Parakeet on a bed of lettuce.
Fatal Attraction: Hold my boiled bunny!
fan de BETTE Y JOAN me fascinan las dos
When I first saw this I had sympathy for Blanche and hated Jane but, once I seen the whole movie I realized how Blanche was the real monster and broke her own spine accidentally when she meant to run Jane down since she hated and made fun of Blanche, poor Jane slaved away hand in foot and wasted her life when she should have gotten married and had children.
Yeah, remember Crawford always plays proper.
good film
The Birt got out,I made it for ya lunch Blanche,I'm sarry!!
Is it me or with the mayonnaise coming out of the parakeets rear Jane is basically telling Blanche to eat s**t lol?
Betty Davis is an excellant psyco actress.👍👍👍
Yes Blanche got everything she deserved from Jane! Always was more sympathetic for Jane and Bette sure played her magnificently! This movie really is hysterical although not intended to be. LOL!
The humor in this movie was entirely intended.
The old woman's voice is exactly how I picture how a witch sounds
both great legends off Hollywood, bettie Davies, Joan Crawford / real showbiz ladies 😇😇
Saw this as a kid..traumatised me for life....lol
If she was the older sister in the wheelchair than how come her younger sister is more older looking?
😄 wondered abt tht too. Joan Crawford was always a woman of style and grace performing. Bette Davis was more of a villain in her movie,, to think of it Joan was actually older than Bette in real life. Gr8 performance by both legends.
Renember The Blance character said at the end of the movie "you wernt always ugly i made you that way" By making baby Jane believe it was her fault thay she was crippled
Heavy smoking and drinking doesn't help...
Love her
Surely Bette should have gotten the Oscar for her role in this movie.
Joan's role was far more challenging.
Bette definitely should of won the Oscar for this performance but as always politics comes into play and has since day one.
I would have never served Blanche a parakeet on a bed of sliced tomatoes. It would have been on a bed of spinach with pines nuts. They just don't make movies like this anymore.
True story; This is how two of my oldest selfish, petty, and greedy evil old sisters Mary and Amalia Gomez are going to end up just like these two crackpot basket cases in this film. In fact they're experiencing it rightt now in the early and middle stages.
Sono pazzo di questo capolavoro tra due mostri di bravura !!!!!*******!!!
OMG did Jane really serve fresh budgie with sliced tomatoes and mayonaise? That is a culinary disaster! Who would do this?
I've known Southerners who really hated New Yorkers because fancy Manhattan folk would go around saying that poor Southerners ate dirt. I'd go, well just tell em New Yorkers eat pigeon. They do. Only they call it squab. Same thing just a different name. Besides, I have found that if you charge $95 a plate for it and serve it on the upper East side there's almost nothing that a New Yorker won't eat. That's just what Jane is doing here. Giving Blanche a little West Coast squab.
The more I watch this .. Blanche wasn’t as innocent as she let on..
Now only 8.99 at Olive Garden!
LOL Yes I do.........
It's one of my favourite black and white movies, along with Con faldas y a lo loco (Some like it hot). They are two celluloid "monsters" here in Spain when someone is a monster it´s because he or she is a supernatural being), although I'm more of a Bette Davies fan, I think it's great, she lived for many years, with her unique voice, hoarse from tobacco smoke. One of his last appearances was on a trip he made here to Spain. There was no one like her, she survived Hollywood, a place that can destroy you if you are not a powerful being, and she was. Antonio Cruz, Spain.
Now thats a close up 👽
@DCFunBud Regarding the tomatoes...don't forget, presentation is very important. :)
HA HA HA SHE CRAZY!
I like a lot of the dark movies they did. They had great careers in their older years. What were they worried about.
I bet that room had old people smell.
I never noticed this, but isn't it funny that there's a picture of Jane hanging on Blanche's wall?!!
Well...
Maxime Jacoby Nice butt Maxime...
@MPL029 You're absolutely right! I guess Bette didn't want to spend any more time than necessary with Joan.
