  • It's a Horsepower Monster field trip! We went to the Carolina Grudge truck dirt drag races and tug-of-war and had too much fun! Let us know if you think we need to put together the scratch and buy a truck to compete in this? And which event?

Fun video. I’ve wanted to build a tractor pull out of my ‘62 Power Wagon for a long time. I already have a 493” Chrysler RB for it.

That pully broke because of the stacked washers. If you look close all three cracks are at bolt holes. It was slapping back and forth under load.

1000cc Yamaha; 12000+rpm, timing stuff let go, pistons and valves started partying and uncle Rodney came out to play. Dude got off the bike and had chunks of aluminum in his suit, and shrapnel on the inside of his helmet.

I've only seen one do it and they said they determined the pulley became out of balance some how, which made the pulley hit harder on one side!I guess anything is possible,They craziest thing i have ever seen,i was at a small race track, car hit second gear and the transmission exploded and the fly wheel came out and went straight through a fence like a saw blade, lucky there was nobody on that part of the fence because it was early and they were just testing:-)

I've been to a LOT of drag racing on asphalt. Everything from NHRA, to IHRA, to TX2K, to smaller regional events, to Friday Night Drags, and I've never seen a pulley come apart like that. I've seen plenty of blower belts let go, but not pulleys.

Crazy that a gas powered small block non-dually went so far in the tug-o-war. You would think a diesel dually would have a major advantage on such a truck. And while I'm more of a car guy, I love all forms of drag racing. 1.20 60ft on dirt is SICK!!! Is it trucks only or could I show up with a built AWD car for the drag races. Love your videos bro, keep up the great work brotha 🤙

I suspect that one of the most important factors for the tug-o-war would be weight over the rear axle. Even dual rear tyres will spin if there's not enough weight holding them down on the ground. Might even be that the heavier diesel engines bias the weight towards the front and reduce overall traction.
Clearly it's also a brutal test of your transmission durability. On a related note, I wonder what it would be like if everyone was restricted to using manual gearboxes...

@@nerd1000ify Great points. If it were restricted to manual gearboxes only I would suspect they would be using a clutch slipper valve or a fully adjustable clutch like the Bangshift Billy clutch I have in my small tire Z

@@nerd1000ify I been thinking more about if they were restricted to manual gearboxes or at least had a manual gearbox class & along with a clutch slipper valve or a fully adjustable clutch you could use an ECU like the FuelTech FT550 we run to setup no lift shifts. While I bet a built automatic would likely always be better for this sort of competition I think you could definitely make a competitive manual truck.

I just see a lot of square bodies that should be restored.

Those pullings shatter periodicly & once in awhile even break the snout off the crank. Changin thm out once a year helps runnin that much hrspwr duh
