You can tell Flawd ( don't know his real name sorry ) knows about music. Like for real, I've been subscribed for God knows how long, and this guy has made me appreciate and observe things in music I would never had. His facial expressions alone, following and watching every God damn reaction of his, his breakdowns and his commentary, the rhyme schemes, the messages. All of it. I know it may sound stupid, but watching him is like been given a key to a door of extra levels of understanding and dissecting music. Sincerely thank you for that. Have a good one, greetings from Greece.
Love this comment! Flawd was the first reactor I started following, couple years ago now. Before that, I couldn't understand why someone would watch someone else watch something, but Flawd showed me the light😅😎
This was James' way of working out his anger and despair . Someone had stolen a bunch of their gear right when they were going on their first big tour supporting Ozzy . In that gear was an amp James' mother had given him before her battle with cancer .
I'm sure a lot of people might know this already, but when this song came out in '84, many were concerned that this song would provoke more suicide. Apparently, the opposite happened. This song actually saved many lives. Haven't heard this one in a while. Thanks guys!
Impressed how she got it so right with the music at the end. The body is strugling to live while the soul is traveling to another place. I think the end involves a rope.
Fade To Black is a Masterpiece throughout the entire extent of the word, glad you heard it, I love all type of music but like you said, this type of music right here is REAL TALENT
I remember renting this music from the library in prison lol back in the late 80s got out in the 90s ended up seeing them live in Pittsburgh Pa July 22 1998 !
this album will live forever... just straight fire... got a chance to take my 8 year old son with me to see them live this year i could finally afford tickets... i told my son "you dont know what youre listening to but you have to come with me and youre coming with me because this is once in a lifetime for us" lol he loved it and is now a metallica fan. metallica is very popular amongst the latino community everyone knows who they are lol
@8:15 Thats exactly what Metal is meant to do. The instrumentation accentuates the lyrics like the score of a good movie - the music enhances the scene. Metallica is brought up a lot cuz they are the greatest metal band ever.
some of the best guitar work in any song... ever. not only is it great unto itself, but if perfectly fits the mood of the song and the story it propels. genius level songwriting from some 18yr old heshins! 40 years plus on and still holds up... still better than most stuff on the radio today.
I, 2 years ago tried to self delete and the first verse of this song was in my delete note. Explained how I was feeling perfectly. Happy to say, now on the other side of the pain and life is great
The lyrics in this song are deep, poetic, and philosophical. And they tackle some of the most important issues facing our society today. And instead of talking about that, these two discuss some rapper who has nothing to do with anything in this song.
Imagine in the early 80s, going to see an unknown band in a run-down movie theater ... yup, been there done that. The next time I saw them live - this ulbum - they played in a arena, the last time I saw them was in a coliseum. Good to be older then dirt. Cheers
I think Led Zeppelin's 'Stairway to Heaven' in 1971 was the epic masterpiece that most rock bands wanted to emulate - a song that started w/ acoustic guitars but progressed into heavier beats and guitar riffs w/ a blazing lead solo... Lynyrd Skynyrd had 'Freebird' in 1973... Deep Purple recorded 'Child in time' in 1970 - all iconic tracks. Judas Priest recorded a song w/ a similar structure in 1978 - 'Beyond the realms of death'... Iron Maiden wrote and recorded the song 'Remember tomorrow' in 1980... and we know that Metallica were huge fans of Judas Priest & Iron Maiden starting out. James Hetfield recalled the band jamming on the idea of 'Fade to black' and he wrote the acoustic part back in 1984 because he wanted to contrast the thrash metal songs on the album 'Ride the Lightning'... w/ a track that was a bit mellow and heavy w/ emotion... Hetfield said he first realized that the song was special when he went to visit a then-girlfriend at her home and her sister was blasting 'Fade to black' on her stereo, over and over again.
A lot of dark times behind me because of this song and I know there are more in front of me as well. Im not stopping until I got nothing left, which isnt much
Some metal heads try to discredit Metallica for selling out & softening up . But these guys earned their way early . Their early albums are fire. These guys had mad love in their early 20's . I happen to think this is their softest tune ever released & any Metal Head will agree this is straight fire
The first four metallica albums are all masterpieces... After Cliff died, and then money became the primary focus of the band, it has been all downhill since, but the original albums will always stand the test of time.
Welcome to the Metallica rabbit hole! This is only the beginning!! You can never go back now! Lol! Trust me and the other fans who say now you must dive into the whole album! Pick any song from the first 4 albums not counting garage days and no life till leather. You will not be disappointed!! I very highly highly recommend!!! Pulling teeth!! Cliff burton solo!!!!
My god I hate this 80s fashion of not finishing songs. So frustrating these solos that disappear into the distance especially on masterpieces! Please come back!
I know exactly what you mean. I hate the fact that Goodbye Stranger by Supertramp fades off right when the guitar is going nuts on a solo. It drives me crazy every single time I listen to it. It’s one of my favorite songs.
@@MyWORDisntGospel Oh yes I agree! It fits perfectly into this category. The one I want to get the studio tapes to listen to the rest. For Slash for example I Nightrain... but otherwise I also think Hotel California, Sultan of Swing...
Actually I think meralliquor should have been one of their nicknames. One was alcoholica because in their, early pictures, you could not see any of them without a drink😂
Another great reaction! Since you both have been getting more into bands I’d love you see you react to a live Phish video. The song You Enjoy Myself or YEM for short would be a great place to start.
The amp. was a big personal loss for James, but the band lost all of their equipment to theft (except for their guitars, I think) it wasn't just James's amp. The band thought they might be done, so James was very depressed at the time. This was their second record, so they didn't have a ton of money back then, and they weren't sure what they were going to do.
3/6 started all Trap , Rock guns n roses and Metallica Is trap music Just rock yes all Trap has rock In yet the kicks hard hats all I produce big names you're right Memphis Jay On Tha Track.
Bruh yall should check out Dio sometime. Don't Talk To Strangers, Straight Through the Heart or Rainbow in the Dark are great places to start. Always love your reactions!
Yeh. But I always say that “that’s from a vantage point of someone like you or I who have heard the song a million times “. … when listening to a song for the first time, and it’s in a live format with crowd noise and jumbled sounds in the background, it’s harder for them to truly appreciate the little nuances that you and I can easily pick out in a live performance, but new listeners may not have their ears trained to hear those little things. Thus, I always recommend new listeners/reactors to listen to the studio version first and get to know the music the same way that (let’s face it) you and I did before transitioning to live performances.
You guys mus lt check out Fade to black live in lincoln 2018 & Master of puppets live in denmark 2018 & master of puppets again in manchester 2019 in the rain 💥💥💥 real boss shieeet

Stand strong soldier. I got ya!
@@Rock6Delta13 Thank you for your service,Sir!greetings and respect from France.🫡🇫🇷🤝🇺🇸✌🏻
Now you understand when people say "real music", because the instruments convey the feelings and tell the story as much as the lyrics.
Aaah Fade to Black, one of their absolute best ones.
Kirk Hammet on Solo at the end was 21 when Recording it and 22 when the album released.
This was James' way of working out his anger and despair . Someone had stolen a bunch of their gear right when they were going on their first big tour supporting Ozzy . In that gear was an amp James' mother had given him before her battle with cancer .

Fade to Black is a timeless classic. Metallica music and lyrical ability is nothing short of phenomenal.
Hard to believe James wrote this when he was 20!
I believe
Never gets old 🔥 🔥🔥
"Fade to black" has always been my favourite song from Mettalicker.
Impressed how she got it so right with the music at the end.
The body is strugling to live while the soul is traveling to another place. I think the end involves a rope.
James Hetfield created the finest scores in Metal, Rock, music history
For sure!
And some of the worst too.

The song itself faded to black. I love a fade
6:28 Being in the middle of the crowd at the concert and going "oh oh oh oh" at this part all the way into nearly half of the solo...man!

This is one of my favorite Metallica songs! I jammed to this song a lot in my teen years.
One of my first real concerts. 1989 Manchester NH......during their prime.
Metallica exists since the 80’ , but yet no metal band can get that pure metal genius they had .

Metallica’s live performances are amazing.. since you just heard Fade to Black now watch it live .. you won’t be disappointed..
Probably their only song that I actually prefer live versions over the studio version.
Ride the lightning and kill em all are 2 of the best metallica albums by far....Lars is a menace on the Drums!
